Last Christmas my wife and I saw Sherlock Holmes at the Grand. We both had trouble "seeing" the movie. It was extremely dark and out of focus, and the action scenes had a ridiculous amount of judder/motion blur. We both wondered if it was just a problem that particular night or in that particular theater, or perhaps it could have even been the films fault. This past weekend we saw Iron Man 2 at the Grand and experienced the exact same problem. This time, however, I had a point of comparison because I had seen the film only a few days prior at another theater. We once again had trouble seeing the film because it was extremely dark. There were focus problems with the projector throughout the film. And worst of all, the action sequences in this action-heavy film were nearly unwatchable. There is a scene in particular with a character in a dark outfit doing martial arts in a hallway that is painted white from floor to ceiling. In this scene you can see a trail of motion blur and ghosting every time a punch or kick is thrown. In the other theater this scene was amazing, bright, and clear. At the Grand I couldnt even tell what was happening other than some dudes were probably getting beat up. Im not completely ready to write off the Grand, I will give them one more chance. I would advise caution though, especially if you are somewhat picky about visual quality and are going to see an action-heavy flick. Thanks.

Ive been to see Movies at this theatre a lot! I really like the seating and sound quality of the movies. The things Ive had a problem with are Ticket prices being a little too high, along with very high priced concessions that make it hard to budget with a movie price or two. One time I had a incident with someone disrupting the movie by throwing candy down on the front row where i was sitting hitting me in the head.. I told the manager on duty that night who was a long brown haired young woman..She told me that she would go check on it...after all of this I didnt get no sense out of the movie from being so disrupted! I asked if she would give me a pass to come back to see it again since this happened.. but she denied that!...I was really ill about this, so I called the district manager, who only wanted to talk to me on the phone ...and never offered me a ticket to come back.. So the unfriendly way I was treated during this event really turned me against how they are running things here.. You know as well as I do that there shouldnt be any problem in letting a regular customer who has spent a lot of money in this theatre come back and see one on a pass when it has been ruined for me...Im not sure if the management are that strict on such things or they are just playing hard ball?

Ive only been once, so take this review with a grain of salt. I thought the place was very nice, though unnecessarily expensive. The sound quality stands out as one of the best Ive heard. At Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, we actually thought something horrible had happened to a group of kids behind us, but it was just the surround sound of a mermaid attack. Quite astounding. Sadly the one thing that stands out is not the sound quality, but the announcement verbally made before the movie that if they saw the light from our cell phones for ANY reason, wed be kicked out. Im pretty sure they did this because of a ruckus I heard earlier in the hallways from someone complaining angrily to management that there was no "warning", though, at the time, I didnt know what he meant by that. I can understand the whole thing about cell phones during a movie. Theyre not necessary. But being that I was trying to finish texting our plans to the family we were meeting up with later, with every intention of turning it off when the room went dark, the whole announcement thing made me very uncomfortable. I dont go to the movies to have a conversation with friends. But neither do I go to be scolded by the staff. I think they couldve handle the whole thing a lot better.

First of all there is only a few select movies I deem "Theater" movies so I do not go that often because of the expense. With that in mind, The Grand 18 is my go to theater. It is very clean and the employees are helpful. The prices of concessions expensive but they have deals and a membership is offered so you can lower prices further. All the theaters are comfortable and roomy. Each have very good video and sound quality. The only negative is that if at a quiet part in your movie, you will be able to hear the other theaters movie playing but this does not take a way your experience. All the theaters have stadium seating with all the chairs able to recline a bit. The last movie I saw was in IMAX 3D. That theater was outstanding in picture and sound.

We come here whenever we go to the movies. Never had any major issues, although now that they have remodeled and most of their theaters have reclining seats, they have started a program where you choose your seat row and seat number. Our first experience with assigned seating was TERRIBLE. We came in the theater and there was a group of people who were in our seats. They refused to move so we ended up having to sit elsewhere, when the people who had purchased our seats arrived we explained our issue and then those people chose to sit somewhere else as well this started a giant chain reaction all due to a few people not doing what they were supposed to. That idea is good in theory but first come first serve is always going to be easier!

Theater itself is nice enough. Usually pretty clean and relatively modern. Nothing dirty or disgusting like some other places I have been. However the customer service is lacking. Tried to call the theater several times to verify a show i was going to see (30+ min drive) and no one would answer or return my call. Left several messages for GM but no response. Also........THE IMAX IS NOT TRUE 70mm! Its disturbing these guys get to call this an imax theater when they only use IMAX digital. Truth is they dont want to train real projectionists and profit off of teenagers making $7.50/hr Would rather drive to Charlotte for real 70mm for a once-in-a-lifetime release like Star Wars of The Hateful 8.

The theatre had the most comfortable seats. I would return for the reclining feature. I attended a 9:00 feature and purchased the large combo with one refill on the popcorn. I was not informed of the last opportunity of the evening to get the refill. As I was exiting the theatre I expected to be able to get more popcorn. The consession stand was completed shut down. I dont recommend purchasing the large popcorn and two large drinks. Couldnt finish the drink and was extremely disappointed that I didnt get my refill or have the opportunity to purchase the bucket for the inexpensive refills on my next visit.

Eco-criminals? Flicking spit. We just went to the Grand and had an AMAZING time. The sound quality was FANTASTIC and the screens very clear and brilliant. The "poor, innocent" person who had spit flicked at them was probably sneaking in stuff, got told "no" and now is some environmental martyr. Lesson to everyone (especially the whiner): you can not bring in your own stuff. Its a RULE!!! Obey the rule!!! We did, and had an awesome time. (Then, *sniff*, the mean manager "sucked her teeth" and then "flicked her lip at me to delibrately propel spit at me." Whhaaaa!!!! Hahaha!!!)
