This is a monument to Zebulon Vance. It is in the middle of town and offers some street views of the city and Pack Square. The monument is just a stone obelisk and is not really anything to look at. Basically this is just an enlarged median in the middle of a busy intersection with a monument to an old Confederate/Governor with a bronze pig at the base.

I was born and raised here in Asheville, NC! The monument itself is amazing but, the fact that it commemorates Zebulon Vance is a disgrace! He was a confederate officer and our 37th and 43rd governor! He was also the son of a plantation owner and he not only defended slavery but, owned 18 slaves as well!

No matter what time of the year, this place always has something interesting going on...from street music to art festivals to outdoor venues, this location is a happening place at the center of Downtown Asheville.

If you are into celebrating confederate Civil War officers, you might like this monument. If you dont like that sort of thing, you may still have to look at it because of its size and location.

Great place to be in the center of things! Awesome bronze sculptures randomly placed around Vance.

Nice little plaza for walking around. Its decorated with Christmas lights during winter season.
