I have always gone to Knights Play. I grew up in Apex and can remember playing there the first week it opened and all through grade school. Having said that it is not what it once was... I received a very poor experience to say the least on my last trip there. I went to knights play on a monday night around 9:45 after class, since I am a college student and have little time for golf any more. They claim they are open till midnight... but that is a front to get your money. Upon arrival I went in the clubhouse to request three rounds of 18 holes, for my two friends and myself. I was told that they dont allow people to play 18 after 9:00. I was taken aback because form experience it doesnt take more then 2 hours to play a par three course when you are the only one there. After talking to the employee I had the feeling like he had made an exception since they were not crowded. He charged me for three rounds of 18 for me and my friends. We headed out to #1 and played the front 9 in under and hour.... We then went to 10 to finish our 18... At that point the ranger pulled up and demanded what we were doing in the most rude way possible. I informed him that we were finishing our 18. He responded "Uhhhhh, No Your Not." I told him we had payed for 18 and he responded that we did not have the right tags for 18 and that I would have to take it up with the employee that rang me up. We drove back to the clubhouse to talk with the employee at which point he said you only paid for 9 when clearly my credit card bill says 55 dollars. I did not receive a receipt so it was his word against mine. I asked him if I could pay for 9 more holes for each of us, in an attempt to stay peaceful. At this point he said we dont allow people to play 9 holes after 11:00, it was 11:05. I was hot at this point. And he said they were there 16 hours a day and they did not want to be here till 12 every night. I find it hard to believe that each employee works 16 hours a day. At that point I asked if I could at least buy some driving range tokens to hit balls till 12. He then informed me that they stoped selling driving range tokens at 11:00 as well. Needless to say I was not happy again. After a few seconds of awkward silence he offered me two range tokens which was in my opinion the least he could do after he took me for 20 some dollars. In the end, Knights Play is not the same at night. The service is adequate during the day but the night crew is not friendly or hospitable in the least. My recommendation dont go to Knights Play at night.

Went yesterday. Course was nice, though very crowded which was fine, it was a 70 some degree sunny day in February. Tee boxes could use a little work but Im guessing with so many people coming and going the grass doesnt get much of a break. A bit pricy for a par 3 course, but it is Apex/Cary so also expected. What I didnt expect was how rude the staff were to myself, my wife, and our friend. We came in wearing regular street clothes and not carrying full sets of clubs. Its a par 3 course, we dont need our full sets with drivers, fairway woods or long irons. We each took a select few from our own bags and put them in one bag for simplicity. We were all 3 playing the same holes at the same time as a group. I suppose because we werent wearing pressed slacks and knit shirts, and because I decided not to bring my 300yd driver on 100yd holes, we have no idea how to play golf and should be treated as such. We came to have fun, not to impress anyone, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome and out of place by making comments and odd looks at us, and treating us like "peasants" who will hold up play and dont belong. Really pissed all 3 of us off and ruined the mood for the whole experience. I am not sure we will go back, which is a shame since we enjoyed the course but were so off put by their attitude. We may give them another chance on the hopes that we just caught them on a bad day. When we usually play a par 3 we go to Par Golf on 401 in garner. Its smaller, older, and not as well kept, but those guys are glad to see you come in and promote having fun for everyone. We wanted to try something different for a change and I am glad we did, we now know the course is fun if the people in the clubhouse get their heads out of their back sides. 2 stars total. I give the course 4 stars, it is winter I know the grass isnt the best at the moment, and they cant do too much to stop overcrowding. 0 stars for staff. The only one actually nice to us was the man at the cart return and I thanked him for that.

Im not a golfer by any stretch of the imagination, and due to the advertising of "kid friendly" and odd hours I figured this would be a great place to play for fun and even take my 10yr old child with me. I along with my son and friend went this past weekend. To keep it short, though this place is intended for beginners, we were rudely yelled at for taking to long. I understand the rules and allowing people to play through, but in this situation we were the only people on the entire 18 holes. Initially we started with the back 9 because there were a few people on the front, and we knew that we were going to be a bit slow teaching my son. Unfortunately the staff did not see it the same way and informed us that not only were we taking to long, but it should only (even with 2 adults, and one child) take 10 minutes per hole. Clearly they have this down to a science. We were told, rudely, to move our game to the front 9 (empty at this point) to play the last couple holes. We were also told that it cost them $75/hr to have us play with the lights on (clearly this is my problem?). So we moved as demanded and finished. After we finished, they shut down. This was well before the "midnight" close time that they claim to have. 1. I suggest firing that rude old man because he isnt helping your business. If he happened to be an owner, then odds are youll go out of business. 2. You advertise that you are family oriented, then dont give your customers crap for taking time and teach the youth. 3. If you have a problem paying your bills and staying open as advertised, then I would suggest changing your hours in the off season. I nor others I know will be going back. Dropping $70 to be pseudo kicked out doesnt work for me.

A friend and I were very excited to head out and play a round under the lights on Saturday (12/03/2016). We arrived at around 7:30pm and walked inside to get going. Our excitement was quickly soured when we requested to play 18 holes and a very grumpy old man started shaking his head no. Another employee came out and explained how they were not busy and due to this they would be closing early. He did say that if we hurried we could possibly play 9 holes. The grumpy man behind him said "it would be better if you just hit a few balls at the range." We chose to go and play 9 holes and shortly after we started a couple came in behind of us. The whole time they were playing they were rushed by an employee in a cart. When we finished our 9 holes and the grumpy man was in his jeep sitting on the cart path. I have to say this was not a good experience at all, and I really like this course. I have worked in the golf industry and in customer service for years, I understand how if business is slow you shut down, but to be rude to clients, rush them and make them feel unwanted was shocking to me.
