I am getting into golf again and golfed at Windy Hills for a second time in the other day. I enjoyed the layout of the course the first time I was there and told some of the guys I worked with. We ended up playing the course the other day. I showed up late for the tee time and they had already teed off(I stopped for some corn and struck up a conversation with a young guy walking across america from Maine.) I paid in the pro shop and I said I would walk out there to meet the guys on the course. The woman in the pro shop who was the owner offered to give me a ride out to meet them with a cart. I tanked the second hole pare 3 with a snow man and then began the best round I ever had. Some of the holes were a little buggy but we had a lot of rain earlier in the week and did not bring any bug spray. We completed the round and ate some food. The two of the guys raved over the burger and fries, and one brought a to go for his girlfriend. I like the course and so did the guys I work with. They play quite a bit of golf compared to me. The two who liked the course a lot and have both have shot rounds in the mid or upper 30s at difficult courses and have played at least 30 plus different courses. Bar area was nice and layout and table was integrated well. They were thinking of expanding since it was on the small side. Out door area was nice spot to have a beer. Overall consensus was everyone wanted to play the course again and the food was good. Star rating should be around 3.58

(1) The staff is unwelcoming and rude. (2) The distances are marked incorrectly. (3) There are swarms of gnats and horseflies everywhere you look. (4) A "tee time" means very little as groups tee off seemingly at their leisure without any starter or ranger to monitor pace of play. (5) I have never been this displeased with golf. I mean, its golf! It should always be enjoyable enough to at least finish the round, but, sadly, that was not the case at Windy Hills. I played four holes in about 2 hours and was nearly struck by poor shots three times. (The locals dont seem to be very good, which is completely fine except that they stand over putts for two minutes and hold everybody up.) (6) As I walked off the course, the same staff member who rudely greeted me when I had arrived made eye contact and was apparently unable to even ask if there was anything wrong. Everyones experience will surely differ, but I was extremely disappointed with the poor service, lacking quality of the golf course, and the unregulated pace of play.

I enjoy playing golf every time I play at Windy Hills. The holes are challenging and the setting is outstanding. Many of the courses in the area suffered from the difficult 2014 winter but Windy Hills is in good shape. A family run course that sets a high standard for how these operations should function.

Fun course. A little tight on some holes but a very reasonable price. The food and bar were clean and had a good selection of beverages and food.

Its a great course. Its tough in spots, lots of elevation change and on a nice day its a great place to spend your time.
