Its a large green space, with lots of trees & a filthy pond. It has some great trees, but it had better ones 50 yrs ago. Unfortunately, it is very poorly maintained by the park Dept. But, still, it serves as a good place to take a walk. The sports fields are too numerous, & the players make lots of noise. However, they are only a problem on weekends. It offers great potential, but it is being allowed to disintergrate by the DeBlasio administration. Beam, Dinkins, Koch, & Guiliano, also neglected the parks. Bloomberg recognize that they existed, but that was about it.

In all actuality I loved this park because it is local to me, but my worst fears came true one day because of unleashed dogs. On July 31st 2011 at the Valley west ball field I was playing baseball with my 8 and 6 year old boys, and two unleashed dogs aggressively charged at my two boys and I had to fend off the dogs with a baseball bat and glove. Luckily no harm came to the children or the dogs. The free spirited dog owners at this park should obey the law and leash the dogs.

Lovely picturesque park. Its never crowded and theres plenty to do and see. Just beware when sitting on the bench by Buz ORourke park, theres a huge wasp nest right above the Gymboree where the little kids played. We were afraid that it would fall on us so we moved on.

Great place for taking pics and just chilling. Me and my brother and friends like it there during the summer. Its also a great place to go running and get some exercise and its nice placed near the highway and the body of water bordering Great Neck.

The park is great, but not good for barbecues (not allowed). I must agree with Chris in that the unleashed dogs are a nuisance. Although they are for the most part peaceful, I did get bitten once while jogging one morning.

A lovely oasis in the middle of Queens. Not the biggest but doesnt have to be. A good time for runners, joggers, tennis players or quiet meditation for the whole family and your friends

A decent size park by the water. Reminds me of Owls Head in Brooklyn. Im sure people like this one more as theres no water treatment plant next to it (that I know of).

This park is a hidden gem for dog owners. Big and beautiful and in close proximity to the water through a bridge that traverses cross island parkway.
