Fellow New Jersey golfers -- the holes here at Tamarack are 4 and 1/4 inches in diameter, just like they are at Augusta National, or Plainfield C.C. Of course the conditions are bit shaggy. But lets look at Tamarack as an opportunity to hone our skills when faced with difficult lies. This is not the course for coddling pampered players. Therein lies it charm. For $20 and change, a Middlesex County resident can find hours of pleasure chopping away at these 36 holes. Lets just look at the front nine of West: 1: Even topped drives will dribble 50 yards down the fairway. A fine opening hole. 2. The tee shot gives one a lot to ponder, a slight pull and youre wet. A slight slice and youre in the woods. 3. A gorgeous hole, I dont care if youre a member at Plainfield. Did George Washington lead his army across this wide expanse of fairway? Who can tell me he did not? 4. Short par 4. An endearing hole. Beginners will love it, because it lets you carry a pond without ever really feeling threatened. 5. I love Tamarack, but this is a rather bland par three. I dont think it has an inch of elevation change, or interest. Unless you play from the very tips, and then the branches on the right will pose a trajectory challenge. 6. So, you want to play golf. OK. Step up to this par tee. Heres your driver. Now lets see what youve got. Woods to the left. Woods to the right. Classic test. 7. A great par five that takes position as well as power to reach in regulation. 8. Bend your tee-shot to the left, if you can. If you cant, then you better take an iron or fairway wood off the tee and hope you can reach. 9. A wonderful par 3 that requires careful club selection and a steady hand over your first and second putts.

LOL. To say this place is mismanaged would be paying it a COMPLIMENT. Good old cronyism at its finest. Its comical how poorly some of the employee treat people....mind you these are COUNTY employees... residents pay these peoples salary! Just a tip of the iceberg on the mismanagement... they will not sell anyone more than 2 range tokens at a time because "people hoard them".... now a token costs $3 and a machine shop could probably make them for about 10 cents a piece. Rather then be happy that people are hoarding something they paid $3 for which would cost 10 cents to replace, these geniuses DISCOURAGE the practice. LOL, any wonder the place is a dump.

Middlesex county course, it is cheap ($20 weekday, $28 on weekend) if you live in middlesex and has their county card. They have two golf course, east and west. West is over 7000 yard long and east is little over 6500 yard. everybody want to play west, so west could get busy on weekend. Course condition is not that great. make things worse, most of golfer here dont know the etiquette of golf. they dont fix divot or rake sand trap. staff here are pretty nice, if you try to get to know them, but they could seems as offish at first.

Nice Muni courses (East and West) with chipping, putting areas and driving range. Unlike the other reviewer I often buy tokens 10 at a time and never had a problem. Once you get to know the staff they are really quite friendly and joke every time we see them. However their sense of humor may be misunderstood at times. The course is always in really nice shape and the greens are excellent. Where else can someone play 18 holes for 13 dollars ? (weekday registered resident senior rate)

Tamarack seems to space their tee times so close that the course is so slow it is not worth it. I also found the condition not competitive enough to justify the prices. Management has not made the right changes in my opinion to stop the courses decline since 2008. Its quite ironic since I live 4 miles away. Im envious of anyone who lives in High Bridge Hills. The county course there is 1000 times better.

I think Tamarack Golf Course is a very nice place to play golf and also to practice your driving and putting. some people do not appreciate our county for having a nice golf course in a very reasonable price for everybody to afford and enjoy a day of golf. I hope someday we can open the restaurant. max madridejos

My home course its good if you arena member. If not go elsewhere like Rutgers. For the price of s golf cart here you could rent a real car for the day!
