I have 5 children (4 still at home) and buy yearly passes almost every year. All the kids from 3 through 11 years old love, love this place. We often bring friends on playdates and sometimes they arent sure if itll be cool enough for them, but the Discovery museum has never failed us! We love that it changes periodically, but wish it would change a bit more often. My kids always hit the cloud climbing structure first but then we end up going directly to the craft/project room. On the ride to the museum conversation often comes around to speculation as to what creative crafts theyll have. Sometimes there is not enough staff/assistance/supplies for the craft room, and as a mom of 4 littles, that can be tough. Overall, still a great bang for the buck. I always feel like its clean and well kept. Great indoor outing for days that are either too hot or too cold.

The museum is great, but lately the staff are arrogant and rude. Possibly due to being mismanaged, or as a result of hiring staff with little social to no social skills. On the particular day I was here, staff were reprimanding any parent they saw that were not sitting on top of their child. While everyone understands staying with your chidren (and there is always that parent who never watches their children), there are more appropriate ways to address people. Very disappointing as I come from Virginia every year to visit this museum and my hometown. I doubt Ill be returning any time soon on future trips, nor will I be encouraging friends and family to visit who live in the area. Maybe new staff or some hospitality training is in order.

Lots of things to do here and very kid friendly! Clean, helpful staff, building feels very new and you can easily spend a couple hours on here and not be done! Magnets, earthquake activities, building, Nevada and Reno area topographic activities, humongous cloud formation play structure to climb! Wave simulation where you can race little boats and floating devices as they are carried by the current. Two stories with stairs, ramps and elevator access. Great little family room for moms with little ones who need to nurse or get ready to nap! Only $10 admission but a steal for a family annual pass! Will be coming back!

The Discovery Museum reminds me of the Exploratorium in San Francisco, on a much smaller scale of course. There are many hands on activities that are both entertaining and educational. I lucked opted to go on an adults only night which made the experience (for me anyways) that much better. People totally expect you to let kids go first, even when you waited in line to play with something! Check out their schedule if you are like me and have an aversion to the spawn, they have adult nights on a regular basis.

This is a fantastic place for both kids and adults! It is all focused around hands-on learning, letting the kids (and aduilts!) touch, hear, see, and interact with things from mining history to bridges to renewal energy. They also host "Social Science" events every couple months which is a 21+ late night event where everyone drinks wine/beer/soda, eats food, and explores all the exhibits (even climb the cloud structure!) without those pesky kids judging us for having so much fun.

Excellent museum for the whole family! Hands on exhibits make it fun for kids which makes it fun for everyone. The exhibits are working examples of the laws of math and physics that beg for interaction. Everything is designed to play with and it turns out it is more interesting to physically experience the laws of math and science rather than just reading about them or even just watching. Reminds me of many childhood hours spent at the Seattle Pacific Science Center.

My son had his 5th birthday party today and our experience was great! The room was clean, spacious and right in front of everything. The staff were great on checking in on us every so often. when it got too hot they brought us fans, and when we needed chairs and high chairs they brought us extra. Great experience. Was really happy that us and our guest had access to the museum all day. Great staff, clean and help things go smoothly.

This museum is very much geared toward children, but as two adults we easily entertained ourselves for a couple of hours. Unfortunately a number of the exhibits were broken and non functioning. At times the purpose for various activities was unclear. For the price of entry it was worth it, but there is very little here that you wouldnt find in any other science museum.

Such a great place. They have a huge water feature playground, lots of interactive exhibits, painting, crafts; plenty to do for kids of all ages (and us adults who havent quite grown up yet)! The cost is inexpensive, and children under 1yo are free, but a year pass is definitely money well spent. If you live in Reno and have a kid dont pass this place up!

Really cool place for kids around 2 years and older. Sadly many exhibits are broken or missing pieces which makes them unusable and really detracts from the overall experience. Even with our military discount we paid $31 for our two year old and ourselves. I wish it was better maintained but is still worth visiting. The kids painting area is awesome.

Ive visited Museums, Historical sites and National Parks all over the US, and this is hands down one of my favorite childrens museums. Beats the Franklin Institute, Childrens Museum of Philadelphia AND the Exploratorium in SF for display, interactivity, scale and presentation. A thoroughly enjoyable place to spend the day with 4-12 year olds!

Lucky to have this in the area for the kids. Very nice building, with lots of interactive exhibits. There are some that dont change and some rotating new things to keep people coming back. Good deals on annual memberships for the family. Convenient location with decent parking Available although parking lot may get full during peak times.

Bought the family pass so we can go every week!

Our favorite activities include playing with water so the hands on running water truckee exhibit was really fun. The cost was a little high considering 4 large classrooms of children came in to play during the time we were there. If you are sensitive to loud noise this place might not be for you. #Autiseeme #Autisee

The grandkids(1/5) and I had a great time. The youngest even found plenty to perk her interests. MY G-son especially loved the cloud walk and excavation area. Both loved Sue the T-Rex. Well worth spending the afternoon. The only drawback was no snack bar or anything, think next time Ill pack them a lunch.

This museum is a little small (compared to bigger to bigger science centers), but my 8 year old had a fantastic time here. The cloud climbing structure and the "Truckee connects" river were the biggest hits. We will definitely be back!

What an amazing addition for the Reno community. Five Hearts Preschool will definitely be making field trips to the Discovery Museum as it is set up so well for a day of preschool adventure and quality learning. The staff is wonderful!
