Our visit began with the front desk staff informing us that the suite Id booked 3 months in advance had been given to someone else. They left us with 2 options, to either switch both nights of our stay to a room that was lacking the one feature I specifically requested when booking, or to take a similar room to that which I had booked, and then switch to the room we reserved the following night. I chose the latter because the sole reason wed chosen the Peppermill was for a jacuzzi room. The front desk girl offered nothing to make up for the inconvenience, and I had to ask to be given something for the trouble, which amounted to a piddly $25 dining credit. She told us that itd be just a few minutes while she had someone check to see if the room was clean, and if it wasnt, theyd put a rush on it. Fast forward half an hour. We still hadnt heard anything, and after having the whole first part of our stay ruined by their horrible reservation system, I was literally shaking with anger. I tried my best to calmly return to the desk, and was greeted by a smug blonde who told me that itd take half an hour to do the check and cleaning. When I told her Id already been waiting half an hour, she was wholly unapologetic, shrugged at me, and told me shed call again. That process ended up stealing an hour from our stay. Once we got up to our suite, I stripped off the comforter and decorative pillows, as I always do. To my horror, there was blood on one of the pillows. Not wanting to spike my blood pressure again by asking for help from their seemingly incapable staff, I sucked it up and moved on. This is the second time weve stayed at this hotel, and the second time weve been given a room where there were unhygienic, bordering on health hazard-level things left in our room after being cleaned. Thats 0/2, for those following along. The transfer to the other room was relatively uneventful, thankfully, and the room Id originally booked (#1749) appeared very nice. What wasnt very nice was walking barefoot around the jacuzzi, between the tiled area and the carpet, and having nails from the carpet tack strips stabbing the bottoms of my feet. I kept forgetting (not that I should have needed to remember to not walk on certain parts of the floor for fear of being poked), and of course the inevitable happened and one punctured the bottom of my heel and drew blood. Our entire stay was abysmal, and it ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful, romantic holiday weekend. The service, the cleanliness, the repair of the rooms - awful. In fact, Ive made it a point to tell everyone I know who goes to Reno on a regular basis (were up from the Bay Area every weekend during the fall) to avoid this hotel, and Im warning you, whoever you are, if youre reading this. Weve only stayed in their suites, and if this is how they maintain their higher-end rooms, I cant imagine what the rest of the rooms are like. Maybe weve just had a run of bad luck, but we wont be back to find out. Oh, and as a souvenir of our trip, I got to spend $40 on a co-pay so that I could get a tetanus shot today because of the carpet tack strip*. Yes, Im serious. *In addition to another freak injury I sustained at Sushi Pier on the way out of town - both involved metal going into my skin, and blood. I wasnt taking chances with either incident.

Checked in around 3:30pm on a Sunday for a 2 night stay to celebrate our 14 year anniversary. We stayed in room T1211 (which is a suite with a fancy European bath tub), after asked the woman at the registration counter for a room that didnt include a view of the parking garage. Our view is now of a nice pool and some mountains in the distance, not bad. The Tuscany tower suite is very nice - Im serious. The room is decorated in fancy shmancy Italian details with what looks like Venetian glass, gold lines, textured wallpaper, dark woods, and special attention to scroll/swirl details. The bathrooms hosts his and her sinks, separate room for the toilet, a full size shower, and a fancy tub. Did I mention there is a flat screen Tv in the bathroom? The room itself hosts a large slat screen Tv, work desk, sitting area, bed, and 2 night stands. They also have a snack tray and mini fridge - all managed by weight sensors and time limits or else it will be charged to the room. I appreciate the note letting us know about these details. We were in our room for literally less than 10min - didnt have a chance to unpack - when there was a knock at the door. A plumber! He tells us he was asked up by housekeeping for a clogged sink. Well this sucks, I think. I did manage to arrange my toiletries and makeup along the sinks in the bathroom in the few minutes we were here, so Ill move that. 30 minutes after some splashing, plunging, and really black water everywhere, the plumbers job was done and he would send housekeeping up. 15 minutes passed and no housekeeping. We were kind of anxious to get out of our room and check out the hotel, so I called down to housekeeping, and they sent someone up right away. After some questions on what we needed cleaned and what happened, the housekeeper very nicely cleaned up the plumbers mess. Unfortunately, this unwanted and unexpected plumbing/housekeeping situation kind of put a damper on the start of our stay - especially because we had no clue; why book us in a room that needed some extra maintenance and wasnt ready for guests? I called the front desk and they comped us $50, love the customer service. The casino itself reminds me of the Bellagio in Las Vegas; its very heavily Italian themed. Everything seems of great quality, it looks like a lot of money ha been pushed into this place to keep it fresh and nice, something I notice in details like shot machine chairs, extra added details to the columns and structures. In short, its a nicely well kept hotel. Gambling wise - I won $82 on a THE first a lot machine I sat down to play after playing for 3min. Go figure! Overall, the stay was great, the hotel is amazingly well kept, staff was kind and hospitality was great, and I appreciated them making right on the inconvenient plumber needed to come to our room within minutes of arrival.

Will never stay at the Peppermill again. Rooms are very nice and food in the various restaurants is decent. The smoke smell is terrible throughout the casino. After a couple of hours in the casino we both experienced terrible headaches and troubles breathing. Went back to our non smoking room to recuperate and our clothes, hair were so saturated with cigarette smoke it stunk up our room for hours. The sound proofing is terrible. The last two times we stayed we had neighbors from hell. First room the Villa Suite with a separate bedroom. Thank goodness we could close the door to block off the sound from 2 loud obnoxious women and their out of control kids next to us. They all must of been on speed. Womens voices non stop, you would of thought each one was at the end of a football field trying to yell at each other. Last room we rented was a Penthouse room. Very nice. Long 8 hour drive and 45 minute check in. Very tired and looking for a hot shower and a little time to relax. What did we get?? About 30 adults in a room just down the hall screaming and yelling with their door wide open partying. Went to the room to ask them to keep it down and close their door. Response was we are here to party so tough luck. Called security and Nothing WAS DONE. We left our room to get away from the constant yelling and dreaded coming back to the room and this was a penthouse. Got back and the party had stopped except our room smelled of skunk. We could hear the peoples TV in the room where you have the adjoining door and we could hear them talking. They were not being loud but they might as well have been in the room with us. Went over to the adjoining door and at the bottom of the door was a gap about 3 inches from the bottom of the door to the floor. Turns out the smell was them smoking pot. Once again we are forced to close the door to the bedroom and stay in there and waste the rest of our space. Twice in a row now in expensive rooms just did us in for ever returning to the Peppermill.
