While visiting my old hometown of Reno (now in So.Cal.), I went to visit the NMA on Liberty St. Dont waste your time going inside the building this summer (2015). The architecture and 2 pieces outside the museum are the only things worth seeing. Third floor was closed due to construction and there is nothing on the first floor. So we went to the exhibits on the second floor. What a waste of time, other than a few distinguished pieces. Outrageous that the museum actually charged regular admission for such a small collection of art. Definitely wait until all construction is completed in August before going in the museum. Drive by it. Exterior was the most interesting thing about the museum.

Smaller than expected. Lots of abstract art. Not my favorite. I probably wont return unless they have a special exhibit which I am particularly interested in. When I visited they had a large exhibit of US colonial art (e.g., furniture, jewelry), a large exhibit of somber (mostly monochrome) abstract paintings by a contemporary Japanese artist that I was not familiar with, etc. My favorite exhibits included a room with colonial US paintings (the only part of the colonial exhibit that I liked) and an exhibit about an outdoor art installation of multicolored neon rocks outside Las Vegas.

Great museum. There is always interesting art. A little bit of modern and classic so youre sure to find an exhibit you like. Theyve also had some very big gets - like the emancipation proclamation and ai weiwei. I love that they showcase lots of local Nevada art. There is such a strong art community here and this definitely includes the Nevada Museum of Art. Going is always an enjoyable experience. There is an easily accessible parking lot, and great gift shop. If you plan on going often, you can join as a member.

There are a couple of things here that make this museum definitely worth the 10$ entry fee. The Maynard Dixon exhibit was excellent and provided a cohesive overview of the famed illustrator of Western tales career. Some of the pieces in this exhibit are truly excellent. The other part not worth missing is the sky gallery, the museums open air roof deck. The view of Reno is stunning. There is enough to see here for an hour to hour and a half.

Had the opportunity to visit again during the "Barrio Block Party" which is part of the Artown events and had a really good time. Loved the "Miradas" exhibition and we also enjoyed "View from the Playa," & the "Maynard Dixon" exhibitions. Didnt care for the "City of Dust" with jars of broken crack pipes to be considered art but thats just my opinion.

A variety of exhibits provides something interesting for everyone. The exhibits change somewhat frequently making repeat visits a pleasure. Unfortunately, no photographs are permitted inside the galleries. The roof deck may be closed due to ice in the winter, so check ahead - the views of the city and mountains are very nice.

Do yourself a favor and go to the top floor. Awesome view of the mountains that surrounds the area. The exhibits are well put together and quite spacious. Sad this museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday when I went, but make sense it opens on the weekends. Definitely worth visiting.

My daughter was soooo excited to come here! After waiting for over 20 minutes a couple walks in and the hostess seats them and tells me their all full and theirs no seats available. Crazy! I guess we wont experience this place and I definitely wont recommend it!

Great place great exhibits. Parking is fantastic if you are the only people there. But if more that 5 people and the staff are present the parking lot is useless leaving you to find parking on the steet. But the building is great for all sorts of event.

We have only been here for special events and brunch but have always enjoyed ourselves. They always have interesting installations, the staff is helpful and the facilities are clean. Watch out for the absinthe flights with brunch, makes for a crazy morning!!

They should having a warning that they really only have 1 exhibit. Took my visiting family to go the the museum to see art, not a documentary on the burning man. Not only was it yawn it was a RIP OFF. $3 a person, maybe but $10 a person..come on!

I really enjoy this museum, even as a broke college kid I would come here to enjoy the exhibits. I was always impressed by the quality they hosted there considering Reno is not a huge town. Highly recommend spending an afternoon exploring!

Gorgeous modern museum houses the best in modern art. Courteous staff and the new Sky Roof offers superb views of the city and Sierras while maintaining the peak of modern architecture, and a nod to the nearby Black Rock Desert.

Great views from the top floor giving a good view of the city. Fantastic art work that includes a variety of modern art. They also participate in the BoA free museums on us program. Fantastic staff that were extremely nice.

Not really a museum, maybe Ive been spoiled by Houston and NYC. ONE exhibit was available today and nothing else. No parking was available, all spots were full, had to pay to park and walk over. Meh, not impressed.

The museum is a wonderful place for art, community, and refining your aesthetic sensibilities. We enjoyed the live music and brunch on Sunday, then an old movie themed in with their current focus of horses.

Great little museum. Parts were closed off due to a party, but that was ok because there was plenty to look at. I really enjoyed the photography. Plus, they are a receptacle museum, so we got in free.

Great museum. I came for an NCET event, and they donated entry into one of their exhibits. It is an absolutely lovely place to visit. Quiet, with high quality pieces that they regularly change out.

I loved the exhibitions going on. The architecture of the museum inside and outside. Great location surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants. A lot of place to park.

The museum is always updating its collection and frequently changes its exhibitions. First Thursdays co-sponsored by the radio station KTHX are a local favorite.

"Nevada Museum of Political Statements" is more like it. There was one room of genuinely good art, but the rest was bland if not politically charged rage-bait.

Renos best art museum with a nice permanent exhibition, and often with very good special exhibitions. Admission is free every second Saturday of the month.

This place is an American West Classic! Always something thought provoking in there! Put it on the short list of things to do in Reno!!

Ate at the little cafe here. The food was very good. That Saturday they had a DJ spinning 70s rock. That was nice. Love the atmosphere.
