This place is really intresting the staff is really nice and happy. If you have military ID of some sort, government issued they will let you and one other in for free! I really liked it alot and will return in a few months to see in exhibits. So funny thing when you get your ticket to enter outside then you enter the building to get checked in at the front desk. Well between the entrance and front desk there is some pink streamers hanging that we didnt knew was art. My little brother and older brother start batting at them like they are struggling through a forest. The lady behind the desk in the most sweet kindest way yells out with a smile "please dont touch that art work!" She was a nice to us and told us the rule of 18" between you and art. So to walk away we had to limbo with the pink streamers to see the rest of the museum lol, Why out the pink streamers there at all lol?

MCA has a lot of challenging exhibits, more than many contemporary museums Ive been to in the US. They get some great, major exhibits like Weegee and, recently, Kerry James Marshalls Mastry. However its worth noting this isnt really the best place for kids. Theres almost always one exhibit that has warnings all over it or an employee standing outside to warn you about violence or imagery - sometimes things show up without warning. One time my son walked into an exhibit with a bunch of sexual imagery and we werent expecting it....it was a hallway from one space to another. I dont mind nudity - but not being able to decide to view it before we hit it, or contextualize it, was horrid and annoying...and I found it such a worthless installation, on top of everything. The permanent collection is decent if youre into mid-century contemporary, like Rothko, Johns and Warhol.

One of the worst museums in the United States. Went to the location on Grand and half the museum was closed for renovation or whatever excuse the ticket window gave us. We were compensated with tickets for free admission to the other location and were told we could visit that today, we walked half an hour through a dodgy area and when we get to the Geffen its not even open because of renovation. Do not waste your time or money on this poor excuse for museums. Will be calling their office this coming week and filing a complaint. Very sad excuse for customer service, try educating your staff on what your museum is actually featuring and when.

Everytime I come to LA I go check out whats happening at the MOCA. Its not a huge Museum but big enough to spend a few hours in if you enjoy looking at art. The museum is divided into two sections, the modern and contemporary art. I come specifically to see whats showing in their fully rotating contemporary arts gallery. Ive seen some great exhibits there. I definitely recommend the MOCA if youre curious about what artists are currently up to (plus a few years back, Ive seen Warhol exhibits here too). Great stuff, I always leave inspired.

Stellar museum! Even though this is a compact museum, it offers a great range of work both permanent and visiting exhibits. All underground - it can be a bit disconcerting to walk down stairs to go into the museum, but its well worth it. Add to that the pop-ups, workshops and events, and you have a bustling museum in the heart of DTLA! Pro tip - come weekdays if you want to have a very quiet experience, it can get busy on the weekends and later in the day.

This is a must-see in Los Angeles. The museum has an incredible range of heart and its exhibitions are world renowned. If your a resident or if youre visiting from out of town this is a place you need to go. Its free to visit on Thursday after 5 oclock. But if you do try to make a contribution. When youre in the museum ask to be on one of the guided tours. The docents are amazing at their Wrath of knowledge and how they make the group Interactive.

Sehr schönes Museum mit wichtige Werken von Andy Warhol und andere contemporary Künstler, aber ich fands etwas zu klein und zu wenig zu sehen. Ansonsten wunderschön, nette Mitarbeiter und sehr schöne Werke.

Very small gallery, and expensive for the quality of artist they present. It mainly presents new artist who creat very poor art with pictures of violence and sex. Of course Its not for kinds. The worst thing is that they advertise that they have Jackson Pollock, Juan Miro etc but they have only one work of art of each. But the big question is...why we are obliged to see Jackson Pollock and Miro with the rest trash of art?

Although comparably small from all the other nearby museums, this place has a lot to offer. I usually come here for special exhibits and they usually have great collections. Plus, the same tickets can get you to LACMA if you have time. They also have free days with Wells Fargos sponsorship, so make sure to check it out. The gift shop is upstairs and you can find many interesting artifacts and books.

Uno de mis museos favoritos en Los Ángeles después del LACMA. Hay mucha obra de artistas como Andy Warhol y Jackson Pollock, no dejes por ningún motivo de visitar este museo.

Surprisingly small. Not necessarily a bad thing, just know that theres not a lot here. The things that are, are first rate, big name-brand artists, and thats great. And the gift shop is excellent! Combine this small paid museum with the larger free Broad for an afternoon of art. Parking is odd--park in the rickety structure at the end of the block.

The Museum is pretty cool. It is small and concise. It focuses on Black people and most of the art is of literal black people(not even brown). I didnt like how repeative the arts were. However Im the type of person who doesnt appreciate art at all. Kind of Ironic given that I just took AP Art History last year and passed the class.

Amazing!! The art was FANTASTIC!! So mind blowing! And they provide chairs if you want to sit in front of the art and write about it or draw it! So awesome! And at the exit is this cute little resteruant kind of place called lemonade. Has a great selection, the lemonade is great too!

Breezed through fairly quickly. For some reason I thought the museum was much larger. Could be because they closed half of the museum for a new installation. Cant complain too much though, I went on freebie Thursday. Probably shouldve taken my time to really take in the artwork.

El museo es exelente. Tiene algunas salas medio pretenciosas para mí gusto, pero en general tiene obras muy piolas

I want to rate it lower, but I cant deny much of my dislike is for the art and not the musem. With that being said, only real connoisseurs of contemporary art will enjoy this place, while the rest of us will flee back to the safety of LACMA and the getty.
