The Minnesota History Center is a wonderful place for families and anyone interested in Minnesota history as well as history in general. The exhibits are always perfectly done and work for people who want to stop and read everything and those who just want to look and move on. There are several permanent exhibits, such as "The Greatest Generation " that features the World War II generation and the fascinating childrens exhibit, When, Where, How" that is just as interesting to adults. There are additional exhibits to explore that are enjoyable. Besides the permanent exhibits there is a feature exhibit that focuses on a specific topic that may be relevant to Minnesota history or of national interest. One of my favorite activities at the History Center is Nine Nights of Music, which features free outdoor concerts every Tuesday, July through August. The evening features a live band and dance lessons. Dancing is optional, but it is so much fun to watch the kids doing their own thing. I cant say enough good things about the Minnesota History Center. The History Center is free after 3:00 and open until 8:00 on Tuesdays and free for Minnesota Historical Society members and children 4 and under. Admission is $12. for adults, $10. Seniors, Active military and college students. Hours are 10-5 Wednesday through Saturday and noon-5:00 on Sunday. There is an on site restaurant that is open during museum hours. Parking is available for a fee.

While I would not consider mine to be a refine pallet, I would have to say this is probably one of best places I have eatten ina While. I ordered the grilled Chicken Salad. Being an extremely picky eater is what I can bay is my Claim to fame. just ask anyone of my siblings or significant Other. If I dont know what is in it forget about it. Well wouldnt you know it, they slipped something By me. They put figs into my salad. What a delightful surprise. I normally would have been a Nay Sayer, but this fabulous explosion of flavor exploded into what would have been a drab piece of salad greens, butadding the chicken to the mix meant no dressing required. Finding the vinegarette to be a bit robust. Wonderful experience overall.

A fantastic museum that was equally enthralling and fascinating to a three year old, a middle aged MN native and my English wife. Notable highlights: ALL of the Inclement Weather exhibit (the tornado room was excellent), the Mine/Mining experience (my little one spent over 20 minutes drilling and blowing things up, no really), the dissectable Buffalo, and finally the grain tower is a great way to burn energy off the little one. Why 5 stars and not 4? The level of interaction on every exhibit was incredible - very few history museums offer this kind of experience. And the staff are lovely.

Went with my BF for the Gridiron Glory exhibit. We had so much fun seeing the history of the sport and exploring the other exhibits! Our teams are rivals and it was fun to fight over that rivalry and see who truly reigns supreme (unfortunately it was him). It is a great place for kids to interact with educational activities and it was interesting enough to keep adults engaged as well.

Dont miss the Tuesday night live concerts and dancing in the summer months. They had a great swing orchestra, space for old and young to try out their dance moves, one of the best views in the city. 1,200 people showed up tonight with lawn chairs and picnic suppers and it wasnt even crowded--its a big space. Also, free admission Tuesday nights to the History Center exhibits.

Its average. The exhibits are always thoughtful however theyre not always good overall . Some of exhibits are outstanding while others are unimpressive. The thing thats most striking is how much money must have gone into constructing the building in the building which is monumental but it hardly seems like the Hub of activity which would have Justified its expense

A childrens museum! ?!?. What was this person looking at? Yes, there are things for children but there is so much more. The Greatest Generation exhibit or the Civil War exhibit was very much for adults. The Society operates many historical sites all over the state. They also house the Gale library which contains historical documents you will find no where else.

This was the best museum Ive been to in a long time. The Greatest Generation exhibit was terrific with some great hands-on experience , the world war 1 exhibit was very Illuminating (mind-blowing to think of all that has changed in 100 years). We planned on only being there for 2 hours but that quickly turned into four. Could go back for another four!

Excellent interactive displays. Beautiful building. Very friendly and helpful staff. A good way to learn about the area. The tornado exhibit is a must do. I have never been in a tornado but this interactive exhibit gives you an idea. The sounds, the way the room (basement) moves and the TV set with the news alerts; way kool!

This place is a treasure. I used to assume all states had a history center as dedicated as MHC--not so, as I discovered on recent travels. The center staff develops great exhibits--interactive, imaginative, and educational. We go to the center three, four times a year. The family membership fee is more than worth it.

We used the Minnesota History Center as a venue for our wedding about a month ago. The space was absolutely incredible. Our guests were so impressed with everything, and the space made our wedding very special. We would highly recommend the Minnesota History Center for a great wedding experience!

This is among the many must-see destinations in the Twin Cities, especially if youre a Minnesota resident. Fantastic hands-on exhibits make it fun and engaging for the whole family. My daughter had a blast there for her school field trip and still talks about it months afterwards.

I always love this place. They have great exhibits and interactive events. Their research website is outstanding. Parking may or may not be a problem depending on when you arrive. I have always obtained a great parking spot. The snack bar has some good stuff

We went to the World War 1 exhibit there yesterday. It was a project by this Museum that will end up touring the United States. Very thought-provoking. It was about more than the war, it also went into social issues spurred by the great war to end all wars.

I loved it the first time I was there 5 years ago. Only 1 exhibit changes, so it was almost exactly the same thing, except this time there was a table full of CAIR pamphlets ( Council of American-Islamic Relations ) in the lobby, which turned my stomach.

Great place to learn about local history, and they are always having special exhibits. My kids loved the what-its-like-to-be-in-a-basement-when-a-tornado-goes-by. Also has the best state history library: free to use, but you cant check anything out.

We went to the WWI exhibit and loved it. I visited here two years ago for the WWII exhibit which was emotional for me as my father is a WWII Navy Veteran. Both exhibits were fantastic and I learned so much more than I knew before.
