Im 67 years old, a left handed golfer with a relatively high handicap. I have played Torre Pines, Kapalua, most of the fancy resort courses in Minnesota, many courses in southern Missouri, Trent Jones Trail, the Gulf Coast, Myrtle Beach, Nicolas and Palmer courses, $10.00 courses and $300.00 courses, courses with sand greens, courses where the stimp meter is running above 12, desert, mountains, bogs, forests, frozen lakes, and more. The layout at Teddy Wirth is one of the few on which the holes are evenly split between holes which favor leftys and rightys. It is a public course. If you want cart paths paved like freeways, pay more taxes. I prefer the rustic, natural track. You may get your $1000.00 PGA Shop togs and shoes a bit damp or mud spattered and you wont find a lackey to polish your clubs, so bring a towel. If the rough is too deep, hit your ball in the fairway. Decide first if you want to slam alcohol or play golf. Alcohol? Utipils Brewery is just 5 minutes down the road. Golf? Stride on, swing away. Walk the front, drive the back. Wave and smile at the marshals then hit the ball. Ready golf will keep you out of trouble. The Teddy Wirth experience is golf the way it was meant to be played once the aristocracy was conquered. A wonderfully everyones course, challenging but playable for all skill levels. Affordable, beautifully natural, ever evolving urban wilderness in which we are allowed to intrude temporarily to play this silly game we love. And yes, the downtown skyline views are spectacular. The deer, wild turkeys, geese, muskrats, beaver, raccoons, mink, honey and bumble bees, and uncountable species of birds and bugs all agree. Wear a hat and a little citronella. Did I say I love this Teddy Wirth course?

Disappointing. This course has TONS of potential. It has a challenging layout, especially the back 9 where it seems every hole is uphill (the most underwhelming part of the layout is that 18 is a par 3). The condition of the course was lackluster. Fairways were just ok, the rough is LONG, making it challenging to find an errant shot, the greens were in below average condition. The cart paths were atrocious, and in more than one spot were flirting with being unsafe/dangerous. We didnt see the beverage cart until the 13th hole...But we did see the rangers on almost every hole, who harassed us about pace of play every chance they could get. P.O.P is important, when the course is busy, which it was not on this day: we kept up with the group in front of us and the group behind us never had to wait for more than a few minutes. The rangers were rude, overbearing, and crass. I can get over the poor up-keep of the course, because the scenery is pretty nice (a lot of trees, and some nice views of the MPLS skyline in the background) but I will not return to this course because of the way we were constantly harassed by the rangers. This course could benefit greatly from higher volume of beverage sales and profit that could be put towards upkeep, and less ranger interference. Tons of potential, hopefully some day they figure it out. If you are looking for a challenging course, this could be your place. But if you would like to actually ENJOY your round, look elsewhere.

The course has overcome many things over the years, but its heart is intact and still one of the best layouts in the city. A true Minneapolis landmark, rich in history with a skyline view golf courses across the country would dream of having. Every time Im in town on business I will make a point to play when weather permits. Is the course challenging? Sure, but pick the correct set of tees best suited for your game and enjoy the experience. Do round times get long at times? Yes, but golfers of all abilities will use the facilities. If youre a newer golf I would strongly suggest honing your skills on the par 3 before taking on the "big course". I only wish the city would do whats right and stop using the golf course as a jumping off point for other outdoor activities as it only detracts from the true beauty of the course. If you have your sticks, play here!

We paid for 18 holes of golf (+cart rental), but did not make it past the 6th hole due to rude behavior. The ranger was on a complete power trip and was continuously harassing golfers to speed up their game. I will concede that I am not a golf pro, but I was definitely going at a reasonable speed. This was not a problem until the ranger circled us several times with his cart within 2 holes and berated us for our golf skills and etiquette. He made our golf experience at Wirth Golf course miserable and we were unable to enjoy our game. We spoke to the people at the clubhouse and received our full refund. Unfortunately,we did not receive much of an apology. We are very disappointed with our experience and would not recommend the course to others.

Worse golf course experience i have ever had. Group ahead of us was a little late which was no big deal, so then the grounds crew was working ahead of us so we waited 10 min. Meanwhile we were courteous and let a 2 some go ahead of us. Then we got scolded by the ranger and he followed us for 4 holes parking right next to us just staring at us. We explained what happened but he didnt care said he was going to follow us all day of we didnt speed up. Complete jerk, never going back. Worst experience

Whiners, do not play Wirth if you want flat straight fairways and easy holes. The desert is a nice flat spot for you. Use a cart if you are not able to walk up hill. Golf players that truly enjoy golf and the view of nature, will appreciate every time you play Wirth. Sorry for the rant, but that review that was all about Wirth having hills, caused me to shank a ball.

We enjoyed our walk, but when we returned to our car (parked in the beach lot), the window had been smashed and our belongings taken. There was glass from another smashed vehicle window a handful of spaces away (hindsight is always 20/20), so clearly the thieves have a pretty good system set up. Avoid this park until they make it safer.

They should really post of their website somewhere that the back 9 is under considerable construction. Random greens mowed into fairways on holes 11, 12, and "17". The real holes 17 and 18 are completely shut down. Disappointing to not figure this out until you walk up to the hole.

Course in horrible shape. Even with a 2 for 1 green fee it wasnt worth it. Such a beautiful piece of property so poorly maintained. Either the city should put more money in the courses or turn them over to a private developer.
