We stayed at the Holiday Inn West Bay in Traverse. Lovely hotel. Would stay there again! Lots to offer, EXCEPT for the dinner we had there at the DayClub. My husband and I ordered the Louisiana Fried Chicken. Was suppose to come with Garlic Dill mashed potatoes, braised greens and honey black pepper gravy and cornbread. First off no mashed potatoes, so they offered Yukon fries. When the plate arrived, the chicken was heavily coated with some sort of breading. It was so thick, when you picked it off to locate the meat, it come off in large clumps and hard as a rock. The yukon fries were not even done. They were chewy (yuck!). I didnt finish them. We never got any cornbread. The braised greens were by far the worst part of the entire dinner. Super sour and terrible. I tried 3 times to give them a chance, and each time it was awful. I left that too. The chicken, when you actually located it under all the breading, was a bit rubbery. My husband had one piece that was dried out. I have no idea what happened in their kitchen! And how the waitress didnt notice all the food on our plates after is beyond me. Didnt eat the greens or the yukon fries. The breading from the chicken (once peeled off) covered the entire plate, there was so much. It was stunning... and probably one of the worst meals weve had as adults. Our bill was close to $70 and we left hungry. Ideally we should of said something right away but was hoping something on the plate would make up for the other items. That was our mistake. We could of both had something decent to eat and actually finished what was on our plates. And Im not one to complain...but this was bad! Worthy of a complaint. What a waste of money. Hotel still nice. Beds comfy. Breakfast was also good.

5-star outdoor seating on the bay, 4-star food quality, 2-star service. Long wait to get any acknowledgment that we were even there. Waitstaff was confused about the menu offerings, side items, and beer selection; forgot to give us the basics like water and silverware. Even though the food we received wasnt as described by the waitstaff, it was still good quality and tasty. But it is a great deck right on the bay with nice views and live music. So it really comes down to what your expectations are.

This is a place with two personalities. Skip the nighclub. The summer beach vibe is the real winner here. If you get the chance to hang out on the patio. Do it!
