Really nice design by DeVries Designs, who is also responsible for Pilgrims Run, Kingsley Club, Greywalls up in Marquette, and Mines. I love the remote location, wooded entry, and unique clubhouse. Has a range and practice green, 18 holes. The ravine is utilized perfectly. Some elevated tee shots, some blind. Nice bunker usage, some water. Back 9 par 3s are classic, perhaps one on the front also. The negatives - barely acceptable maintenance. Tees are the same height as the rough on the front nine. No tee, fairway, rough definition? I suppose the deep grass could be rough, with the philosophy being huge fairways, but still the tees are not shorter. Sometimes the tees are setup pointing the wrong angle especially on number 3. I have been with other golfers who setup hitting down 10 because the tees are so badly placed. There are local youth golfers that run wild - they will drive past you during swings to "quick play" the hole in front of you or en route to another area. There are no holes cut in the practice green nor a practice sand bunker. Staff can be a bit rude - Bob (younger one, I think there are two) is nice but the older guys can be unpleasant. Also, they really need one more tee area. The white is 6000 and blue is 6800. There really needs to be a 6400 in there. The 6800 might seem low, but it is lower because the Par 3s are mostly short and there is no reason to lengthen all par 4s to 450-480 to increase the yardage. The whites are too low for me and inflate my score dramatically, but the blues are a bit long for me on some holes.

Diamond Springs has the potential to be an exceptional, tournament quality layout, but it is a budget course at best. Its a very interesting design with a couple blind tee-shots, nice sweeping dog-legs, tee-box "shoots" from the tips, and nice greens. The very disappointing thing about this course is that it is a single cut from tee to green. There is no difference in grass length until you get on the green. I believe this is where they are able to reduce costs considerably and offer budget prices for a very nice layout. I believe the course was designed by the same person that did Pilgrims Run (which I love and highly recommend). The course can also get extremely dry if they dont water it enough. There are some challenging features which include the giant ravine that borders 4 or 5 holes. If you hit a ball down there, its a goner unless you want to hurt yourself trying to find it. The clubhouse is beautiful, the range is very dry. What would make me come back again would be if they actually started mowing to multiple cuts from tees to greens and watered it more to bring out the consistency and softness expected in a fairway, teebox, and rough. It is certainly walkable, but you might enjoy a cart to move quickly in the summer time because shade can be quite sparse. I also enjoyed the back nine more than the front due to the natural features of the course winding around the ravine.

I booked a tee time on golf now for nine holes with 4 people. When we showed up I was rudely told that golf now was not supposed to make reservations for that time and that I should have called the golf course to confirm. Their reason was that "a guy" will be doing work on the fairways. They apparently have the ability to work on all 18 fairways at the same time. After we basically forced them to take our money, we finally made it on to the course. The layout is quite enjoyable and its much nicer than the majority of courses in the area. In order for me to go back again, though, they would need to either get a new manager/starter, lower green fees, or start allowing/selling beer. I would not recommend this course to people under 50 as I feel thats why we were treated poorly.

I consider Diamond my home course. I have played the course from the beginning. Dont let the wide open fairways lull you to sleep. I see so many players look down the fairway and I am sure they are thinking I can cream the ball and be in good shape. Big mistake! If you end up in the areas surrounding the fairway you are in deep trouble. This course continues to deliver a great balance of needing to think and the opportunity to be aggressive. The staff at Diamond has always treated my golf partner and myself like family. If you havent tried Diamond Springs you are missing out on something special. Diamond Springs is a great round of golf in a quiet corner of West Michigan. Reasonably priced rounds get you out onto a well maintained and rarely crowded course that offers good elevation changes and a challenging but fair test of your game. The mature greens are usually in good shape throughout the summer. *No alcohol allowed on the course, or served in the clubhouse so if you rely on a little "swing oil" to get through a round this may not be the best option for you.

Played this course, and was extremely impressed. The conditions were great, and the course was well kept. The course is definitely a challenge for any golfer, but also a lot of fun. I had never heard of the course until the day I played it. There werent too many people on the course the day I played, so I hope more people discover this wonderful course. This course is definitely a hidden gem that is not expensive.

Great fun course. It was extremely challenging for my skill level, a relatively new golfer, but some of the most fun Ive had this summer. Everything is beautifully maintained and the course feels open and relaxing surrounded the best of Michigans natural environment. I cant wait to return and hopefully improve my score!

Ive played the majority of course from holland to Grand Rapids, this is by far in my top 10 for quality of maintenance of the course for the price! Has a good variety of open holes and challenging holes. As well very visually appealing, I try to play this course around 3-4 time a year because I enjoy it so much!!

I golf at Diamond Springs yesterday for the first time. I never would have thought that there would be a course this nice in Hamilton. I loved the wide farways and the scenery was amazing. The price was a lot cheaper then i I expected and the staff were very friendly. Im definitely going back sometime soon.

I have been golfing for about 25 years and this is by far my favorite course in the Greater Grand Rapids area. We drive 25 minute weekly to golf here after work. The course is very well maintained and has a great layout. All their golf carts are like new. I highly recommended Diamond Springs!!!!!

Specifically called in advance for first tee time 2 weeks before the 4th of July. The pro shop said that we "got it". Showed up at 6:20am and found we were the 9th off. Bad communication on the staff. We really asked to be first off as we golf fast. A 3 hour round turned in to a 4.5 hour round.
