Nevermind that Trillium has the best IPAs in Boston, but theyve also been ranked the number three brewery in the world. Their brews are generally hazy IPAs, almost orange-juice-looking, with a great head, powerful aromas of hops, and a balanced palette of wheat, hops, and sweetness. Every time Ive been theyve had a different lineup of beers on their menu. The Galaxy is my favorite, as recommended by a personal network of beer snobs from around the world. Recently I tried their Raspberry Sour Soak, and it rivals flavors from some of the best Belgian Krieks Ive ever had. People come to Boston from all over the world to try Trillium, it has that kind of pull in the brewing community. In fact, I only found out about the brewery from a friend of mine who lives in Sweden. Sure, there isnt much room inside the bar, and they dont have a tasting room in their South Boston location, and theres almost always a huge line outside the door. But you know a place is good when it says on the wall "limit one crate of beer per person". Trillium will forever change how you view IPAs. Its an experience all its own and a must-do for any beer enthusiast.

Trillium Brewing Company is on EVERY beer fans radar, from coast to coast and in many places throughout the WORLD. What theyve managed to do in this small space is incredible, and a testament to the talent and effort of the entire Trillium Crew. The tasting/growler bar is gorgeous (fashioned from reclaimed wood), but it can fill up quickly (the staff manages the chaos tremendously well even with lines out the door). Trillium was one of RateBeers 10 best new breweries of 2013, in large part because of their bright, citrusy, and incredibly drinkable Fort Point Pale Ale. But their flagship Trillium Farmhouse Ale is also fantastic, as is everything they make. Look for their beer on draft in select locations throughout the city. Congratulations, Trillium crew, on being only the third brewery to open in Boston Proper in the last 30-odd years!

One of my favorite breweries around the Boston area. Big lines out the door and around the corner around 5 pm and lunch time. Right around the corner from where I work which makes it so convenient. The beers can be a bit pricey but quality doesnt come cheap! If your into craft beer this is the place to go. I have yet to have a single beer here that I didnt care for. Sometimes you can get samples sometimes you cant. I know they have had liquor licensing issues in the past. Fort Point Pale Ale dry hopped with the galaxy hops is number 84 on Beer Advocates top 100 craft beers. Check it out for yourself! Side note, Im not that big of a stout fan but their Pot and Kettle is unbelievably good. Also check out the Congress Street IPA if your into those.

So this place brews some of the best beer in New England (or America? or the world?) but Im reviewing the place, not the beer, right? And as a brewery to visit, it falls short. First off, you have to come here. The beer is amazing and if youre ever nearby, youd be remiss not to pick some up. So head to this location, line up for a growler near the door and move further inside for bottles and merchandise. Act like youve been there before and dont ask for a tasting- they cant do it (note: theyre not being jerks here- they dont have a license from the city to pour). Not that youd want to anyway, this place is almost catastrophically small. No drinking here, no eating, no where to sit. Just get your beer and go. Oh, but how delicious the beer is!

Basically a tiny space selling cans and bottles of beer. Very claustrophobic when busy. As previous reviewers have noted, there is no tasting whatsoever available so if you dont know the difference between a double IPA and a saison then tough luck. I have been there twice and both times given a rude service. That said, if you are willing to put up with being treated like cattle and barked at by security to move along and away from the door then the beers are enjoyable. Unable to taste before purchase I got lucky with my choices! For a far superior experience go to Lamplighter Brewery over in Cambridge. The staff are friendly, experienced and you can try flights of beer too.

We drove 2 hours to purchase this beer. We literally walk in the door and a staff member looks at us and says rudely "line starts outside" its busy in here" like we were stupid. There was definitely standing room available- but this was a guy was a prick. He should have stood outside and asked people not to open the door if he was going to be pissed about people opening the door to get in. Made me not even want to try this brewery. Hire people who help you sell your product instead of make you NOT want to purchase it. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth even before I had the chance to try it. Its called people skills.

Its completely free to sample the beers and I wasnt aware of local laws, so I totally thought Id be spending my money on a full-size beer, so I neglected to purchase a tasting glass (who wants to travel with that) but would have if I realized I couldnt spend money in there as they only offer growlers to go. They have 4-5 beers on tap at a time and the staff explains each beer composition to you in between filling growlers for the never-ending stream of patrons. Super tiny, so dont plan to spend too much time in here (no seating) but do plan to bring a growler home if you can!

Lovely small brewery that I stumbled across the other day. It is super charming when compared to Harpoon which is just down the street. Everyone who works there seems really knowledgeable and friendly. I only had a chance to try a couple of their brews but they all seemed top notch. They dont do tours (theyre too small) and Im not quite a fan of their packaging and logo (though they have lots of ancillary products like hats and shirts with their branding!) I wish they had a more modern look but thats a bit logo snobby for me to say.

Great beer worth the venture! There is a reason why Trillium has some of the best rated beer in the world. There are not many places where you can drink their beer since supplies are limited. Best option is to show up early to fill growlers and buy cans at their Congress St location. The staff are friendly and helpful. If it is your first trip out there, it can be overwhelming to deal with all the options and the fluster of the crowds. They will be patient and help you make some decisions about their phenomenal beer!

Really disappointed with not being able to taste any beer. Im from out of state n never had any of their beer. There were several Ipas that interested me but had to go with the staffs suggestions. With that being said the Fort Point Pale ale Galaxy dry hopped is very tasty. So far enjoying the beer. I understand the place is small...but so disappointed no tasting available. No samples, pints, or flights!

I dont think Trillium makes a beer that I dont like. This location, however, is tiny. Consumption is not allowed on premises. (Not even tastes.) You can only stop in to fill a growler or buy bottles. So if youre a Trillium fan like me, then pop in here to get your fix to bring home. But if youve never had a chance to check them out, this is not the place to grab a flight, unfortunately.
