The Mt Airy Tavern is in an unassuming location that never fails to provide good food and service at a decent price. Food: It has a fairly diverse menu plus routine specials, so, like any restaurant, it will have some hits and some misses. I have tried many of the items and most have been very good. They have very surprisingly great burgers if youre looking for some less upscale fare. Beverages: Full bar (has Lagavulin) with some specialty drinks. Could use a larger beer selection, but this is not the taverns niche. Prices can be slightly expensive, mostly for spirits. Service: Service is often a little slow, but the servers have all been nice and gotten our orders correct. Atmosphere: Generally busy on weekend nights, but otherwise not that busy. The three seating areas (dining room, outside patio/sidewalk, and bar) are middling as far as noise; it is mostly dependent on how busy the place is. Best part about the place: The food.

Nice atmosphere, friendly, efficient service and delicious food. We did not have to wait for a table early Saturday evening (5:30) but most were occupied by the time we left (6:45). The butternut squash soup was beautifully presented in a baked acorn squash and was absolutely superb. The Caesar salad was large and fresh with just the right dressing and homemade croutons. My wifes shrimp and crab Chesapeake pasta was fabulous as was my sesame crusted salmon sandwich with fries. I only wish wed had room for desserts, which looked fantastic. Next time! Update: We have returned many times in the years since leaving the review above and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended!

OK, this place is great. The service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable (with the exception of glasses of wine which are pretty pricey). If you went to this place when they first opened several years ago, you might not have liked the food. I know I didnt. It was at least a couple of years before I ventured back in again. Well, theyve clearly worked out whatever issues they may have had. The food measures up to the great service now. If you live in Mount Airy, its the only bar to go to (although - given the competition in the area - that isnt a high bar to jump, no pun intended). Highly recommended!

The food is OK, nothing to go out of your way for, but not bad. The readon they only got 2 stars is the have NO CLUE how to deal with someone with a food allergy. I am allergic to Dairy & Citrus. I thought a burger would be safe, BUT... I could not believe that they had "no idea" what was in their bread/rolls. They get it from a bakery with NO ingredient list, REALLY?!? Who doesnt demand an ingredient list, we are in 2017 right? I ended up eating a pork BBQ sandwich (minus the bread). My 9 year old daughter got the chicken fingers. She was in total agreement that there was NO reason to even come here again

I absolutely love this place. The brick-oven pizza is the best in town. The crab balls are excellent. The craft beer selection is great. However, the prices are steep. We can only afford this place once in a while. Also, youll want to avoid the French Dip sandwich; I dont know what that was - it tasted like rubber. I wish they would bring back the old calamari coating and sauce. The new version is not as good.

I come here often because I know that Ill get a really good meal served by a friendly staff. Some of their standouts are the creamy crab bisque; juicy hamburger; and blackened steak tips appetizer accompanied by a bed of greens and very tasty tomatoes. On a nice day, one can sit outside on their patio. On those days, its easy to forget that the restaurant is in a strip shopping center.

I usually dont write reviews good or bad but the meal was the worst. The service was ok but the food was far from worth the price. I got the meatloaf and it looked and tasted like dog food. Even ketchup didnt help it. Tasteless and bland. I also got a ceaser salad and it would have been nice to have some salad with my dressing lol

Had a reuben sandwich there, my uncle had a sandwich as well, but not sure which. His sandwich was stacked. My sandwich was limited on meat and even less sauerkraut, and I paid more for my sandwich. It was the weakest reuben I have ever had.

Best crab cake in the region for me. Do have one complaint, price for one crab cake went from $10 to $14. Instead of going off special night like before I only come then. Thats a big jump. Also has the best drink and specials in Mount Airy.

I gave it 5 stars relative to what else is in Mt Airy in the way of taverns/bars. Nice atmosphere with friendly clientele. Food is good and wait staff very nice. The owner is often there. Its my go to place in Mt. Airy :)

The BLACK & BLUE BURGER was very yummy and the service was good. But the Tuna Martini was just okay; the wasabi sauce was great but the tuna was wanting. Though I imagine well be back for another whirl...

The food at the Mt. Airy Tavern is the best. I have never gotten something that wasnt delicious and the portions are huge. Rasonably priced. Well worth the money. Try the Cream of Crab soup!

Tuna on a roll with mayo does not qualify as a Tuna Salad. If it does not have anything chopped in it (i.e., celery, onion, etc.) it is not a Tuna Salad. First time customer.

Food is over priced and either over cooked or tastes terrible. Owner lurks around so you feel like youre being watched. Nice bar though. Gets loud & young at night though.

Food is fresh but only mediocre in taste. The place is clean. I do not care to go back to this place.
