When its date day with your guy and you enjoy seeing him happy.....you agree to make a trip to Fredrick MD to check out a Brewery with his favorite beers. Flying Dog is nestled in an industrial area with an outdoor and indoor seating area big enough for large groups. The great news is that most of the beers can be found in the DMV area in local stores, so if you dont live in Fredrick no worries. The atmosphere is laid back and low key but if you feel the urge and start raging, you have the opportunity to take a picture with your favorite raging bi*$h face, which is one of their most popular IPAs that is enjoyable and goes down smooth. Although I dont drink beer I enjoyed the conversation and great music playing in the background. Afterwards a quick stop at the near by Clarksburg Premium Outlets for shopping didnt hurt either. Ive been to a few brewery tours, flying dog being the latest one. It was, to say the least, extremely underwhelming. The tour guide was the best part of the experience. He was lively, fun, and seemed excited about his job. The tour itself though, had little to no amenities. That being, I drove 40 minutes for the tour to get a 4 ounce sample of beer. Where all other tours Ive been on, I have gotten at least 3-5 free drinks. For a company as successful as flying dog, it was pretty abysmal. The tour guide said at the beginning, "One thing Ill be saying a lot this tour, you can get it at the gift shop." After the childs sample of beer during the tour, all the other tourists lined up like cattle at the bar since they were desperate to have some kind of buzz. I wasnt having it, so I went to buy a six pack to go. Turned out, it was 15 dollars. I could get the same thing for 9 or 10 down the road. Not falling for your bait and switch, flying dog. No thanks.

Visited on Saturday afternoon Labor Day weekend. The tour w/ Justin was amazing. Great time! Unfortunately, that was as good as it got. I stayed for lunch and a couple of beers. The service by the food truck and the bar staff was horrible. I never got called for my food. When I went to the food truck after 25 mins, I was simply told, "your food has been sitting there for 10 mins." To make matters worse, I didnt even get what I ordered! The bar was busy but when the bartender asks you, what can I get you?, you sort of expect to get it. There were 5 bartenders (4 guys/1 girl), yet I still had to ask twice for my first beer and had to ask three times for my second beer while other people were walking up to the bar and getting drinks left and right. Ive been a Flying Dog fan for years, which is why I visited brewery, but after today, I may never drink that brand again!

This was my second tour with Flying Dog - the first time, a couple years ago, was really fun: $5 for the tour, a free engraved wine glass, and 5 complimentary drinks at the bar... Dont expect anything like that today. Although the tour was free, and the tour guide was knowledgable and fun, it was brief in comparison and included zero free drinks and no free glass. By the end of the tour, my friend and I had little motivation to spend money at the bar for drinks but still wanted to bring some beer home with us. We picked up a six-pack from the gift store and brought it to the front counter- the cashier read to us "thatll be $15." Really Flying Dog? I can drive to the GetGo down the street and pick up the same sixer for $9! Both of our eyes widened and our jaw-dropped. For the cashier who may have noticed, thats the countenance of "we wont be back."

No taproom, and you can only have beer if you are on the tour. The place opens at 12, we got there at 1 and all the tours were booked. Even the one at 5. Who shows up at noon for a tour at 5? They should organize the tours better or have reservations possible ahead of time. I realize they probably dont sell beer because they dont have a liquor license to sell for consumption on premises, but Ive been to plenty of breweries that sell "tours" and then give me my "free" samples, even though I didnt do the actual tour, but they wouldnt do that. Overall, very disappointing. Also, the website clearly says no one under 21, even babies, which is dumb. My friends have the chillest baby that should be allowed to tour strapped to his mom. I wouldnt try to go back unless I was in Frederick for other reasons, maybe Id pop by because Im obsessed with beer.

I love this brewery and their beers. Then brewery tour is a lot of fun, but tends to book up quickly so plan in advance. This is a great place to have a beer, get a growler/crowler fill, and just hang out. They recently began serving a few food items, but i havent tried anything yet. In addition to the widely available varieties you can find in stores, the brewery always has a few rare brews on tap. I would recommend following the brewery on Twitter to find out about events and special beer releases. There is a nice indoor bar as well as an outdoor patio. I just wish Flying Dog were closer to the beltway.

Although many of the reviews on Google and Yelp! suggested that we needed a reservation to visit Flying Dog’s tap house, we managed to make it in on a chilly and blustery day in February. No matter, though, as the Cold Press Coffee Porter on Nitro immediately warmed every bone in my body to the core. Easily my favorite coffee-flavored beer I have ever tasted, and I bought a growler of it on the spot to take it home to further enjoy as dessert. Flying Dog is easily the most established brewery in the Frederick, MD area and deserves a visit if you’re nearby, passing through, or just want a quick road trip!

My wife and I drove three hours from near Morgantown, WV, to the birthplace of some of our favorite beer in the World. What a great experience it was for us! The staff was humorous, the Tour was top-notch and the beer was..........FANTASTIC. My new favorite is "The Truth". You can send some free to me if you like!! I can be bought!!!! I am sharing my experience with my nearly 600,000 Twitter followers today. Thank you for a good time - and - we didnt leave naked. DAMN. I STILL will take free beer. I NEED "The Truth"!

Maybe the best brewery in the USA. Lots of cool merchandise, a food truck, and sitting out on the patio. Life is good. The reason I love Flying Dog beers is they have lots of seasonals, and most beers are strong. Great IPAs. And the artwork on their beers is the best in the industry. BTW, the employee that came up with Naughty and Nice beers, hopefully got a huge Christmas bonus. Genius marketing!!

As a craft beer geek I typically skip brewery tours and head straight for the tasting room, however, Im so glad that I didnt follow my standard routine at Flying Dog and opted to do the tour on Saturday. My tour guide, Serina, was wonderful and it was clear that she loves her job, her coworkers, and Flying Dog beer. Ive always been a fan of their beers, but love them even more now!
