If something you want to see is playing at the historic Senator theatre, youve got to see it here. Its not your local multi-plex, but even better. There is nothing quite like a full house at the Senator, having hundreds of people laughing at a joke or biting a tongue in fear. There is something that gets in to the atmosphere here that sucks you into the movie. Although Ive never seen it, I know there are rooms upstairs to rent for parties. I like the ladies lounge - a little peak into 1950s. Drinks and popcorn is good and lines are long. Seats have been renovated in the past decades, but lack of stadium seating means you need to be on edge for a tall person in front of you until the curtains part (yes, real, long, red velvet curtains) and Ive heard complaints from friends that seats are uncomfortable, but I dont find that to be the case. Belvedere square, cafe zen and the whole area is skyrocketing in popularity (could it be the starbucks as well?) which makes for easier and safer parking that has changed this scene in the last 10 years.

OK, so Im going back to doing SOMETHING on Fridays and I decided to go to the movies. I just saw Girl On The Train and it was perfect. I opted for a light snack bcuz I want to eat dinner & I couldnt be happier. This is far from White Marsh with loud teenagers and over priced snacks. Instead , I was able to get a small popcorn that was actually small and a small soda that was actually small. It was quiet during the movie. NOT ONE Person had a cell phone that went off! It was clean. Great location bcuz Im close to home. I will return, soon, and I would recommend this place to anyone. Other than one couple, I think I may have been the youngest in there but it didnt matter; I was amongst people who watched movie the way it should be - with respect of others in the quiet. I really enjoyed my first visit to the Senator Theatre.

We saw Marigold Hotel 2 there last night with some friends. It wasnt in the main theater but still pretty sizeable. Not like some where you might as well be at home. We really liked the renovations. The lobby and foyer were always grand, but needed some TLC. Now they sparkle. Plus, they have added a small bar and in the main theater there are some seats with tables in the back. We ducked into the main theater. It been a while and we had forgotten how large it is. They have replaced all the seats and they are very comfortable. It is nice with the extra theaters there now because you have more choices of movies to see. We live nearby, which makes it convenient and we dont have to wait as long to see a movie we are interested in since more are playing.

This is still one of the best movie theaters in Baltimore. The Senator is a historic Baltimore landmark and it is where I saw my first movie in a theater. The historic main theater is huge and the screen is framed by cloth curtains. It feels a little like stepping into the past. Outside the theater is Baltimores own little walk of fame that pays tribute to Baltimore-based entertainment. They have renovated and added several smaller theaters so they can show more than one movie at a time. They usually get the most popular movies so you are probably not going to see anything obscure here. The selection may be more limited but the location is definitely quality and worth a visit.

One of Baltimores true gems!! Classic art deco movie theater with a box office out front and a beautiful lobby. I took the family to see Hidden Figures last Saturday. We arrived just as the movie was starting and were still able to get good seats. The way the screen is , I would not be worried about ever having a bad seat or view from the main auditorium. The popcorn and soda was tasty, not over priced... And I was even able to get a glass of wine for me to enjoy. The ladies powder room is HUGE, much like a hotel with a nice seating area. I would highly recommended it for a date night as there are several lovely restaurants within walking distance of the theater!!!

I liked the fact that this used to be just one screen showing I think up to 400 people at a time and if you look at it now, they have four screens each with a comfortable sitting space and good food service. I heard they had brought back real butter for popcorn which they used to do but for some reason discontinued it. They have also opened up a burger shop called "Clark Burger" where you can order the best tasting burgers and then go eat while watching a movie. I have grown up with this theater, and to see the change is just amazing.

We had a wonderful time seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark (on the big screen, so cool). The staff were INCREDIBLY attentive and helpful. My 7 year old daughter had a bad cough, and they helped up find a pharmacy, volunteered to get her hot tea, and settled on allowing us to watch the film from a small room where we wouldnt disturb the other patrons. My hats off to the Senator Theatre staff and manager. Thank you for a fabulous experience and such a beautiful landmark.

Just the best place to see anything on the big screen. This restored Art-Deco theater has private balconies for parties, fresh made popcorn, beer for some showings, and a cool restaurant next door that serves poutine ! Keep an eye out for special showings of classic movies. Watching Back to the Future II" on the date that Marty goes to in the future was extra special, as was taking the kids to see the original Planet of the Apes in full 70mm glory!

I went to this theatre just days ago for my first time since it was showing a select film, "Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl." I didnt know what to expect and I fell in love! I should have started going to this theatre years ago! Not only is it beautiful inside and out, the prices were way more reasonable than any other chain. Besides, Id rather put my money into a local business and the staff was great! Keep it up Senator, Ill be skipping Regal next time!

I recently moved to this country from the Caribbean. .I love going to the movies alot but I dont have a car.The theatre was easily accessible via # 8 or # 48 bus.The ticket person was polite.Inside the theatre was clean and the seat comfy..I went to a 3:45 pm movie and there were few empty seats...Only issue I had was the concession stand (I dont remember the term) never had nachos/hot dog..and my popcorn wasnt warm...

A hidden gem. This is the local movie theater of choice. Great crowd, comfortable with an old timey feel. What most dont know is they have a private screening balcony where you can watch the main theater with a private group and order catering from Clark Burger next door. Makes for fantastic parties/events. We catch all the new releases here. Larger/newer theaters just dont have this type of charm.
