Truly a must !! It is imperative for all people of color to visit one of the most informative Black historical Museum of all times. Upon entering you see wax replicas of Hannibal Barca the greatest general of antiquity W.E.B. DuBois who started NAACP and Booker T Washington some of the most strong and brave African people. There stories are the same struggles we face today. There are detail and very graphic scenes of Africans slaves women, children and men shackled and packed like sardines in slave ships. Its heart wrenching but you still get a since of pride of how strong your ancestors were to survive the brutal atrocities during the trans atlantic slave trade . Atrocities that were and still are placed upon them by there cold heart white oppressors by totalitarianism. all to familiar. the struggles of a people broken nation stolen from the land, forgotten language and destroyed and misplaced by a race of people who are all to evil and unconscious to any one existence but there own.

You would think for what information and education the museum offers it would be in a nice building with proper structure lighting bathroom facilities and display racks. But no, thats definitely not the case. The building is ran down. The display stand and the lighting are terrible. No ease of access for disabled persons and the space is so tight and small that only a handful of people can view things at a time. It is just simply raggedy in that building. City of Baltimore you should be ashamed of yourself for not investing in a suitable and sophisticated venue for our people to Educate and celebrate the history and Legacy of African American culture.

It has do much to offer our community. It is te building bock and foundation to our future and our childrens. It is a historical place to learn about your African history and how our ancestors pave the way so we can have mych more than tbm. Dr. JoAnne Martin is keeping the legacy that she and her husband built together. I love e her dearly and what se us doing for the community. We had an awesome Street Festival today l. I held two identical all female pampering events in the Alberta Cason Room over the past three in the half years. Without any type of issues. I have a contract from The Great Blacks in Wax Museum. The authorized agent knew what type of event it was when contract was signed. They canceled my event on May 10th by Dr. Joann Martin CEO/Owner less then one week before my event to be held. Im asking for "Repayment of damages caused by Breach of contract" My event was to be held May 18th,2014 which has now expired. Causing expenditure losses to me.

This place is amazing, it tells a lot of details of what really happened during the struggle that gets glossed over in the so called history books. I was glad to see our new president there. I went 2 years ago, and again and I still get choked up. But someone please tell why, with all the wealthy African American people out here, why does this place still look like that. Something must be done to preserve our history, or else it will eventually fade away.

Interesting learning experience, however, the place is very dusty and has no air conditioner, so be prepared to sweat. Parking is not paved and the staff is not motivated to show the area at all. It is located in a difficult neighborhood so be aware of that. In my case I had traveled for a few hours just to go there so, I didnt have a choice of not to go in. I think $15.00 per person is overpriced ( I went with my whole family) for what it is.

This place is powerful. It informed me about people that I have never heard of that fought for our freedom and killed on our behalf. I also learned important facts about history that I was never taught. But if you are reading this, they are in need of donations for a new facility. I believe you can just go on the website to donate. The facility needs work to make it a more modernized and fresh environment. Definitely go visit.

What a wonderful experience! I loved the different exhibits showcased here. The showcases definitely provided insight the history of African Americans and the struggles they experienced as slaves. The slave ship and lynching exhibits were the most profound to me, providing great detail and explicit visuals to complement the stories of the African American ancestors. A must-see if youre in the Baltimore area.

This museum is off the beaten path. I have been visiting since I was a little girl. It is one of the only place I have seen a true story told. It is important to keep an open mind. The stories being told with tug on your heart and they should if you know your history. I will support this venue for the rest of my life by visiting and spreading the word in hopes that others will visit as well.

I love this place! The first time I visited this musuem was with my some of my co-workers. I left there in tears. I returned a year later with my husband and my children. Both times we droved from Pittsburgh PA to Battimore. The slave ship was what got me. I still hear James Earl Jones voice saying "Remember" Not only was I blessed, but my children were changed forever for the good.

More persons definitely should visit to support this institution. I havent been since a school trip and I got more out of it as an adult. I loved the exhibit documenting the histories of Egypt and Ethiopia. The museum does have its campy moments but I do find it to be a more nuanced and honest telling of the African diaspora than the Slavery+Martin Luther King=Obama narrative.

The wax figures and history of the museum is awesome and outstanding. However, conditions of the building is horrible, inside needs major repair. The bathrooms are unsanitary and run down. Peeling paint and lack of air upstairs causes a foul oder. This building is likely to be condemn A new building is greatly needed, if we are to reserve our history.

This is a phenomenal, realistic, and motivating exhibit of African Americans and how far they have journeyed and accomplished. This is a must see for anyone interested in learning and experiencing African American culture. Going to this museum is worth the time and the investment. Go and give to keep this museum open and running.

Mid-sized museum featuring many displays, including many wax figures of Blacks who have made significant contributions to Americas history. Also includes scenes depicting those enslaved during the voyage to America, and on plantations. Of significant interest to those interested in Black history.

I took my mom, daughter, neice and nephew to visit yesterday its a pretty great experience and a lot of untold history. The building thats attached are abandoned which makes the site unattractive. Its very unkept, quit dusty but the staff are friendly and helpful. A one time visit is all I need.

This is one of the most emotionally challenging experiences in life. Walking through the pages of time, seeing the struggles, as well as, the progression of Black people in spite of all obstacles, is very moving. This is something that should be experienced by all people, especially the youth.
