Thank God I did not pay money to get in to this place. I would have asked for a refund. Not much to do here except walk around and read. No interactive prescence at all; unless you believe in evolution then there is a 5 minute video you can watch on it. Not much for kids to do unless they like to read a lot. I would not go back. My advice.. skip this place its not worth the price to get in and go down the road to the Science Center. I had way more fun there.

Kind of a hidden gem! Been visiting Ithaca from Syracuse for years and didnt know this place existed until last year. Coolest place in upstate for fossils! My 4 year old love it and so did my husband and I. Wish we werent running through because there was a lot of information to read. Was kind of bummed that most of the fossils were only casts but still interesting none the least. Definitely make a stop here if you have not before. You wont be disappointed!

I like it much better when, years ago, it was the Paleontological Research Institute. The exhibits were many and the staff knowledgeable and friendly. I learned quite a bit about the geology of the Finger Lakes. I took my 6 year old grandson there, my first visit since its pretentious transformation. He was impressed, at first, by the whale, but quickly became bored and wanted to go for ice cream. I found nothing of interest.

Really pretty grounds in the summer! Also there is an exhibit of these weird prehistoric dioramas from the Smithsonian in the 50s where they point out all the inaccuracies, so if youre into weird science irony thats worth checking out. I think the exhibits overall need a little updating though.

We had our wedding reception here and it was so awesome!! Such a unique venue and all of our guests loved it. It was perfect for dancing and people had fun interacting with the exhibits too. The staff was also great to work with. It was the perfect venue for our event!

Interesting museum covering all geological time periods. Not super in depth but a good amount of information. Good educational videos as well. Recently renovated and it looks like theyre getting some new exhibits. A great way to spend the afternoon learning.

Nice museum, fairly empty the day I visited. Grandson enjoyed playing in the kid area with toy dinosaurs. The ice touching exhibit he also enjoyed. Aimed mainly at older kids, needs a bit more for youngest kids. Nice gift shop. Lovely bones.

This is an exceptional natural history museum. One of the best educational experiences on the various eras of earths history I have ever experienced. This is a museum that will stick with me. The paleontological specimens are also superb.

I was lucky enough to be able to stop here for the Ithaca Loves Teachers event. My colleague and I really enjoyed ourselves while walking through time. I will definitely visit again and will recommend my students visit as well!

Sure, its not the Natural History Museum, but for a town the size of Ithaca, Museum of the Earth is pretty great! Especially of note is the right whale skeleton, and the many small fossils from the Cambrian explosion.

What a cool museum. My wife and I visited there a few years ago and enjoyed our time. Not only did we learn about the area but about the geological history too. A very interesting place to spend a few hours!

Yes the Earth is more than 10,000 years old, and it fascinating. Highlight of our visit was our 8 year old daughter getting to actually touch a fossilized dinosaur bone that was being cleaned.

Excellent! The displays and videos, plus hands-on kids activities are very well done. There is much to learn here, including practical steps we can all take to address our changing climate.

Very cool place with A TON of information to absorb if youre into it and great visuals, audio and tactile attractions if youre a child or more of a casual visitor. Very nice family place.

My children and I adore this place. We love watching fossilized bones being chipped from the encasing rock. The walk-through glacier is nifty, but dont dare anyone to lick the ice wall.

Awesome place to walk through the different stages of earths history and see how they relate to earths present. Amazing fossil collection. A big city museum in the small city of Ithaca

Good way to pass an hour or two, it depends on how much your kids want to interact with the exhibits. Very educational so not ideal for smaller kids, great for older preteens.

It was a lot smaller than I had anticipated. A lot of the exhibits were casts and not actual fossils. It was still cool to see, but theres not much there

A neat place to visit, maybe 45 minutes to an hour to see all the exhibits, its a mixture of fossils, displays and currently an exhibit of paintings.
