Horrible experience. A sold out crowd to see one of my favorites Ben Nichols, and there was absolutely ZERO management/security, whatever you want to call it, stage side to oversee. If there were, they were nowhere to be seen. There was a group of 4 so drunk and acting like total asses, right smack in the middle of everyone and ruining for more than just me. I understand that this is a bar but I didnt realize you had to be drunk to be able to enjoy the place. As the DD, I wasnt drinking......I guess thats losing money in their eyes which is why I was given lukewarm water without ice, in a hot ass room with the air turned on sporadically. We left 3 songs in to Ben Nichols....so thanks for that! I was born and raised in Louisville and was looking forward to enjoying this venue. And because I love my city and its history I gave 2 stars instead of ZERO. Greatly disappointed to the point that this is my first time prompted to write a negative review of a place.

The Haymarket has a most excellent selection of whiskey and other beverages, served in a dive bar/club. It has a separate musical act venue, and fills up during set breaks. The bar has a great laid-back vibe, with very helpful barkeeps. There are also vintage pinball games (Doctor Who anyone) and a jukebox. In general, it feels like Chicago favorite Delilahs has been transported to Louisville. A great place to try several whiskeys and enjoy some tune., Very walkable from NuLu or downtown Louisville.

A total hipster haven in Louisville! So many whiskeys to chose from and owner Matthew Landan is your guide on the libation journey. Whiskey is tops, but hes got a curated selection of beers, absinthe and the like. From Chicago, to Asia to Europe, Matthew is well traveled and brings a opinionated but practical approach top goods recommendations. Decor is a hodge podge mix of Star Wars /80a flashback, day of the dead and eclectic music memorabilia. Come for the whisk, stay for the education.

Great local bar for those who want to enjoy some rare bourbons, 300 to be exact with knowledgeable bartenders who really know their stuff. They make handcrafted cocktail specializing in bourbon, of course. Stubbie and Matt are great and can help you explore some brown water you can only find at the Haymarket. Dont be intimidated by the look inside or out they are incredibly friendly and take their advice they know what theyre talking about. Oh and Stubbies Old Fashioned is ridiculous!

Credit card system is deceiving. The only tip options are 20-40% while you have to manually enter anything else (via a much smaller button). Also while manually entering your tip be aware of the 00 instead of 0 button, turns a 5$ tip into 50 real quick. Terrible system, bordering on shady business practice. Also $7 for very old Barton on special, huh ? This place does have a wide selection of bourbons, but thats about all.

Great bar with wonderful selection of bourbons, whiskey and craft beer. Show space in the back has pretty great sound and generally cheap covers. love the idea of water cooler with cups nearby to keep us all hydrated. My only knock is that I feel totally claustrophobic the whole time Im there, regardless of being in the main bar, show area or "patio" in between. Otherwise, bartenders are amazing and love going there!

Staff are great! Selection is amazing! Not a fan of how the owner treated his employees. Everyone was having a great time until the owner, Matt, showed up. Immediately everyone was walking on eggshells. Bartenders were pulled away from their customers to perform petty tasks. The owner continued to degrade the bartenders in front of patrons. I was very disappointed in the owners behavior.

Great bar with best selection of bourbons and whiskeys in town. If they dont have it, its going to be hard to find. Prices are also very good. Theyve got all of the Pappy Van winkles if you want to sample them in a flight for a reasonable price. Also, great selection of craft beers on tap and in the bottle. This is a laid back, unpretentious comfortable bar with an upscale selection.

Liked this bar initially with all the beer choices and such. Problem is that after some friend of mine "Jane Rose and the Deadend boys" were stiffed after playing all night I have chosen not to go there ever again. The owner gave Jane $ 50 bucks ! The owner said some drunk was with us and he had broke a mirror or something. We didnt even know the guy. Questionable business practices ??

Its a suave looking facade until you order a drink from the guy who says he owns the place. I write reviews on whiskey bars/distilleries from Bardstown to Barstow and Ive never experienced such unfriendly service with an attitude. This was on my list of places to review. But not anymore. If you go, order your drink, do not attempt to engage in smalltalk and stay out of the owners way.

Never mind the haters. This is a good place. The decor is eclectic. The Bourbon selection is expansive. They have single barrel exclusive selections when available. They also have $5 Bourbons. You want it they probably have it. Entertainment is a variety of music from radio to live music to vinyl nights. There are currently 5 pinball machines and 2 Skeeball.

been there twice.Never for a band,so cant comment about that. To me,its a joint, and I like that feel. Drinks are cheaper than anywhere in NuLu, and both the bartenders Ive met (including the owner) have been friendly.Last time I was in there, talked to one young lawyer and 2 guys my age(65) whose grandsons play high school football. Very pleasant.

Fantastic bourbon selection at decent prices in a dive-y atmosphere; cant go wrong. It is very small inside, so if you arrive late its a bit hard to find a seat. Got to enjoy some discontinued Ancient Ancient Age, which was a great experience as that was one of my favorites when it was still bottles and sold!

I enjoyed the bar itself and the owner was great. The drink was terrific and truly one of the best Ive had in a long time. The only bad thing-- the bathroom was filthy! I really liked this place but dont expect food or use the bathroom! Worth the stop for a great drink though...

Haymarket is a unique place to imbibe! Its got an amazing whiskey selection, vintage pinball, great DJs, a concert venue and the best atmosphere in town. A real crossroads where locals and out-of-Townes can hang together. No pretentious, not upscale. Come as you are!

Amazing service! The selection of bourbons would seem daunting if the bartender didnt take such care in making personalized recommendations based on pallet. Highly suggested when visiting Louisville. The Incredible Hulk pinball machine is cruel and and unforgiving.

This place is great if youre looking for a dive bar feel. Its kind of smaller so dont go looking for a big crowd. But the bartender was great and the alcohol was cheap. And they have a beer vending machine. Only downside is that there is only one bathroom

Terrible experience. Bartender was not pleasant. The 3 old fashioneds we ordered tasted like sprite mixed with water (best case). Disappointing, especially when the name includes "Whiskey Bar" and its in Louisville. $10 a piece for sprite water? Pass.
