The quality of their beer is phenomenal. The Oval Beach Blonde Ale is one of the best light beers Ive ever had the pleasure of imbibing. For as light, well balanced, and drinkable as this beer is—probably quite tolerable enough to be enjoyed by those whose experience with beer has seldom gone deeper than Coors, Miller, Bud— its flavor is also pleasantly and surprisingly complex, and is not at all lacking the character in which craft beer aficionados revel. The Neopolitan Milk Stout is dessert in a beer. Though it is indeed a sweeter beer being a milk stout, this treat is not as syrupy sweet as some other heavy milk stouts out there. The vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors, very present and in good balance with each other and overall, combined with a bit of sour to balance the subtle sweetness, make for a richly delectable beer that—most importantly—still feels and tastes like beer and doesnt make you feel as if youre drinking a milkshake. Lined up along one wall nside the bar area are the original kettles used by the brewery in their earlier years before they upgraded to bigger, better equipment. Now those kettles are used for group reservations where, along with the owner and brewmaster, the groups each have their own kettle and brew any style of beer they so choose whilst learning about the process of the craft. Other bargoers can just spectate from their tables, or mingle and converse. All can delight in the aroma of freshly made wort. We did this for a friends bachelor party and it was a great experience, and actually quite affordable, too, if you can wrangle up ten people or so; that is, if they can all decide on just what style of beer theyd like brew. Come back in a few weeks when its ready and bottle it in bottles they provide, and affix labels you helped to design, and take all your handcrafted half barrel of beer with you.

The service here seems to be consistently bad. The only thing that stands out is the beer. The food was not horrible but it was less than impressive. When we first walked in the door one hostess was very rude and the other hostess actually apologized with a very shocked look on her face. It is probably not a good idea to greet customers like that when they first walk in, a bad first impression is never a good thing. We ordered drinks and waited for a seat to free up at the bar. When a couple seats were open at the bar we moved in and the bartender picks up the money left by the other patrons but leaves the dirty dishes sitting right in front of us. I then had to move the dirty dishes to the side out of our way and even then it took them awhile before they decided to start cleaning things up. Hospitality means a lot at places like this and these are the kind of experiences that make me never want to come back. So if our business was that bothersome for the staff here they should be happy that I will not plan on returning.

We didnt have any brews so I cant speak on that, however we did have a great dinner. We started with the Twice Baked Potato bites, they were good, but not quite what we expected. It is a quartered potato loaded with cheese, there wasnt a lot of potato left on the inside. I had the Fish and Chips which were very lightly breaded and not greasy which is great. The breading didnt stick to the fish real well, but it tasted pretty good and the side of fries were very well done. My son also had fish and chips, and he knocked those out in time, this was his first time having non-fish stick fish. My wife had chicken Zangara which she liked so much we will be attempting to recreate at home. Everything came out quickly, and tasted great.

beer was good- my friends burgers were fine- the $14 dollar 9" Lobster Pie I ordered was way overpriced for what showed up. A 9" pie with an abundance of cheese and 8( count em,one per slice) of lobster meat pieces literally the size of a nickel in diameter showed up after quite a wait period. It looked like they took half of a lobster tail and cut it into 8 tiny pieces and called it good. I never complain to a server and left a nice tip but not sure i will try food at this place again.

I go to a lot of breweries. Great beer (standard brown is awesome), food was timely and very good. The staff went above and beyond when my wife and 2 1/2 yr old were eating, there was tornado warning, took us to the back away from Windows and continued our service (including another beer !). Well done and thank you. I will make a point to continue supporting this great service when I am in town and out as much as I can. -A

Jun. 2016 - ordered a Barrel Aged Strong Ale. It came in a bottle. Not really a summer beer. I enjoyed it, but it gained a bit of "bitter bourbon barrel funk" as it warmed. I recommend it in small quantities. Jan. 2016 - Good appetizer and good beer. Samples are reasonably priced. A great way to quickly familiarise yourself with the available specialties. Really enjoyed the barrel aged strong ale.

Stopped on our way out of Saugatuck for beer and some munchies. Had a few appetizers and all were satisfying. Had a flight of beers across their spectrum of available styles and not a bad one in the bunch, either. Some I liked more than others and a few I questioned the stated style, but I was happy with all of my choices in the flight. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.

This place is authentic. I went there with a group of 7 people to make our own beer. This option is expensive (~80 buck) but boy it is a lot of fun. Its a full day activity. The brewing export gave an entire tour of the place and explained how to make and etc. These guys are very friendly and funny. I no longer live in Michigan but I ever visit Michigan will definitely go back.

Beer was good service was horrible. Waitress came over took our beer order brought them then never came back to take a food order or get us another beer. She walked by us several times. We got up to leave said have a nice day we had to go to the bar to get our tab & pay we could have just walked out without even paying. I wish I would have asked for a manager.

Good beer, with tasting flights available. Interesting selection of varieties. Good food, somewhat upscaled pub food. Burgers especially good, and fairly large portions served. Nice atmosphere, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. There are some events there, and you can arrange to do your own brew. Nice stop when in SW Michigan.

A wonderful brewery! The beers are delicious (which is sometimes a sacrifice for small local breweries). Try the Maggies Irish ale and the vanilla pumpkin porter. We had an appetizer, two entrees, a flight of 6 beers and two pints for less than $50! The service was excellent, as was the food. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

Im not a fan of stout beers, but this place has two great ones that are making me rethink my position. Food was good, fish was nice and moist while the fries were great. Service was quite good as well, overall Im disappointed that Im only passing through and will likely not be visiting again any time soon.
