What an addition to the area! We finally made the trip up to this gem and were seriously blown away by the entire evening. Parking is plentiful in the lot across the street and on the streets surrounding the place. The building is phenomenal with a great set of fire pits outside. Upon entering through some spectacular doors that were reclaimed from a church, youre greeted by some wonderful decor - a great combination of warm and rustic. Four of us stopped in and shared a number of appetizers and a pizza - all of which were phenomenal. The White Sausage pizza was excellent. Solid thin crust and really good sauce. The appetizers were awesome! We shared an order of Korean BBQ wings and they may have been the best wings weve ever had. Crispy and with some excellent kick, but not so much that you dont go back for more. The ham and biscuits was a great shout out to the South. The biscuit was brilliant and the ham with pepper jelly was just right. A little different from what youre used to, but well worth trying. Next, we had the parm fries - not bad, but nothing to write home about. The potted pig was a throwback to the grandparents and was one of the more unique dishes weve had in a long time. Only way it would have been better is if it was served warm (rather than room temperature). Well worth trying either way. Finally, the tater-tot casserole was another dish reminiscent of midwest living. Nothing better than some crispy tots washed down with some good beer! The selection of beer was solid with plenty of good options brewed on site. Great variety ranging from IPAs to stouts. While we were there, we had a chance to chat with the owner and one of the chefs. Quality folks who are excited about bringing both familiar and new dishes to the area. The head chef is from an unreal restaurant in the Seattle area. The guy knows his stuff and will certainly be bringing some incredible culinary prowess to the area. At the end of the day, I cant sing high enough praise of Big Grove. The newest in a growing number of places in surrounding communities that are absolutely worth discovering! Im excited to see the dishes theyll be introducing in addition to those that are already available. Setting the bar high and on par with only a few places in the region, Big Grove is worth checking out and worth waiting for if its busy!

My wife and I came here for a special night out. Both of us love trying local brews, while supporting the local businesses in our area. When we first arrived, we were met at the door by quite a few people standing in line waiting for tables. This was understandable since it was a Friday night, at about 6:30-7pm. We waited and waited, which is fine; but theres really no place to wait other than standing right in front of the door. After about 15 minutes of standing, we were a bit annoyed. Enter the great staff of BGB. One of the servers noticed that we had been waiting for awhile, brought us over a drink menu and made sure that within a minute we were both now concentrating on the great beer that was in front of us and not the wait. Soon after we were able to be seated. From there the experience just went up and up. Service was fantastic, and the food was amazing, far past what we had expected. The pricing is also great, higher than standard pub food places; while at the same time, you get what you pay for at BGB. The food quality is up there for sure. I would highly recommend BGB to anyone looking to have a nice meal, good beer and good atmosphere. BRB turned a Friday night that started off going in the wrong direction, into a night that my wife and I still talk about as a great experience. Prost!

We made the trek from Iowa City up to Solon just to try this place out. The building is beautiful and they have a cool outside area that would be perfect in the spring/fall (there are little fire pits). Service was top notch and the food was excellent! We got a five appetizers and a pizza for four hungry adults. It was a bit much, three appetizers and a pizza would have been enough, but Im excited for these leftovers! The Korean BBQ wings are honestly some of the best wings that Ive ever had...and Im a wing guy! The ham and biscuits were delicious and I would highly recommend. The "potted pig" was also a pretty good. I had never had potted meat before - which is a little bit different, but very good. It is served with bread that was delish! The parm -garlic fries were good, but were our least favorite of the appetizers. The tater-tot casserole is a delicious tradition version of what you may have had before. They also have a good selection of beer. I had their stout, which was excellent! This is what a five star restaurant should be like! You need to try this place!!! You wont be disappointed!

We have been there twice and both times with lackluster service. I guess we arent from Solon. The latest time we stopped for some beer and appetizers after being at Lake Macbride. We were almost ready to leave due to no server coming to our table. Our server showed up right as we were deciding to leave. She had walked by no less than 2 times before that without a word. We ordered drinks and some food. Drinks were not fast and it took about 10 minutes to get a bottle of root beer for our son. The beer has been really good with a good selection, so it has that going for it. The food showed up pretty quickly: parm fries and a sausage pizza. The food was kind of meh. The pizza came out last and we had eaten half of it in a pretty short time, we ordered more drinks and then the server asked if we were ready for the bill and a box for the pizza. Wait, what? By this time we were pretty disappointed and said sure. She took our pizza and brought us the bill. We paid the bill and we never saw the pizza again since she never brought us the box. I think she did us a favor.

Had a group of 8 that went in for drinks, appetizers and dinner. Got our drinks and appetizer in a reasonable amount of time. We waited and waited for our dinner to come out. After about an hour of waiting, we asked our waitress for an update. She checked and said it would be another 10 minutes. We decided we had waited long enough and would just like to pay for what we had ordered thus far. She apologized and got our bills. She then told us that the next time we stopped in and have a time restraint to let them know ahead of time. There was no time restraint, but waiting an hour for food is not acceptable. Somehow the whole matter got turned around on us. On the way out we stopped and talked to the manager and he really didnt have a whole lot to say. Not even a sorry for the bad experience. Overall this place does not offer anything special to make any of us want to go back, especially with bad service.
