The decor is old and grungy, I would only sit on one of the 60s era fabric couches if it was on threat of life or limb. In broad daylight you can see the accumulated stain from 50 years worth of half-inebriated asses. However, that grungy decor is part of The Starlights charm, its a Mad Men era lounge. And the "gross" factor is no worse then most the other bars Ive been in. There are lots of seating options, so sit someplace you feel comfortable. The only reason youll hear someone notice enough to complain is the fact that its the only bar theyve arrived to sober. Thats the other part of The Starlights charm, you can go there sober. The food is good, with or without a beer in hand. The crowd is usually involved in their own conversations and the music is rarely to loud, Its a bar that you can get a drink at, have a meal, and usually wont have to shout over the din. Bonus, if you go during happy hour the prices are more than reasonable.

This gross old decor that is suppose to remind you of the 1950s when women were women and men were men. They serve martinis till you vomit, wont cut off anyone, or provide a decent menu, they refuse receipts, and say, check tax. One of the bartenders would get me drunk, after which her boyfriend raped me. They have to wear these horrible uniforms, there isnt a single sustainable option, everything is sugared up alcohol no human was suppose to smell a mile radius from--it also has that la crosse stank of mold and mildew, wisconsin is a wet state, and they never air out, this bar use to allow smoking, and really isnt inhabitable unless they decide to completely redo it. all laws were broken here, and a health inspector should have been in every night.

Work for this company for the better part of my adult life in restaurants and was treated like crap because I grabbed a martini glass to look at it. Hadnt had one drop of alcohol yet. I happened to run a China and find elegant stemware shop. How effing rude. This used to be one of my favorite places to come when my wife was still alive now I will never return here. And rest be assured I will spread the news that it is not a welcome place. Or friendly. Or hospitable.

Starlite is an enigma to me. Its a great atmosphere. There is a 1960s feel that reminds me of Mad Men. They occasionally have live jazz that really enhance the experience. However, there is always an overzealous guy at the door really scrutinizes your ID, which is annoying. Their happy hour is nuts. It is incredibly affordable. After that though, the prices seem to quickly climb. I do an enjoy a decent gin martini, and Starlite can provide. Its worth a visit.

It is truly garbage..Theyll ignore you! I attribute this to La Crosse attitude. Customer Service, unfortunately has never been a priority in this town..sad, because it eventually will effect the bottom line. Crappy cust service at Hackberrys and a number of other joints. Yep, Starlite sux and they dont give a crap, either!! Welcome!

Very cool, 1950s atmosphere. Excellent service! The drinks were not very good in my opinion and were pretty pricey. A cool place though, and worth checking out.

Don Draper might feel at home here. Shabby chic 1950s decor located above Buzzard Billys. Great martini selection and jazz combos every so often.

Happy hour is the best time to go for value. Great Atmosphere. You almost feel like Frank Sinatra will walk on stage at any minute.

Great atmosphere, great service, great cocktails. Go during the starlite hour 4-7 to make it worth the trip as far as price goes.

This is another of the best bars in town. Live jazz music, a huge cocktail menu, and the appetizers are great.

I love the atmosphere but a few neat chairs is not enough to justify the price of drinks
