Beautiful land with nicely-groomed trails. My only concern is that the trails would often have multiple forks in the road without any markings. I wasnt sure which path was the one I wanted to stay on. Otherwise I liked the swampy areas. Saw a couple of Herons and lots of frogs! Of course, carry plenty of bug spray or whatever you use for the bugs. Cant stop walking for too long or theyll eat you alive. The information house and the train set were nice. Great diaramas depicting Illinois history. Especially loved the scene with the train that transported Lincolns body back to Illinois after his assassination. There were a pair of beautiful American Goldfinches bathing in a stream of the set, which was awesome to see. Id recommend a visit. Maybe in the Autumn when the leaves are changing and the bugs are less plentiful!

Place is a scam. Worst place to have a wedding. Wasnt happy with the wedding coordinator and all the changes they kept making so cancled one year and half in advance..yet they still kept our money and said if they book our date we will get a full refund..but every attempt to see if our date has been booked has been a run around. Once we finally got ahold of someone they said we are still booked for that day. The manager even told us he was going to push others for our date so we would be refunded. YET OUR NAMES ARE STILL BOOKED ON THAT DAY. Do yourself a favor look anywhere but here. Coming from a young couple who are struggling to get by yet a million dollar company thinks its okay to rip us off. Luckly having a family member work at channels 7 news (abc) is investigating and will bring truth from a horrible company.

Very pretty area. A lot of quiet, peaceful trails to hike, and lots of information about the different types of plants featured there. Has a cool railroad-themed garden that kids and train enthusiasts would enjoy. There are also trails for horseback riding, if you bring your horse. Had a kids adventure area with some animals to look at and some interactive stuff. Enjoyed the experience, but thought the admission price was a little high for what they offered. I would probably go back for some of the special events they hold here, or go back in spring to see everything in bloom.

If you ware wanting to get married there, do not waste your time! They are impossible to get a hold have - I have been trying for the last four months. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because people from the area (who had never had or been to a wedding there) continue to recommend it. I wish I would have read their Facebook reviews. Almost all of the 1 star reviews are from other brides. Seriously, do not waste your time!

A very Beautiful place to visit. It makes you feel like a Kid again with All the skillful designed Trains and the History that goes with it! It also has very nice trails to walk for hiking or just to be out in nature and you can also bring your horse they have horse trails! If you have kids bring them its is worth the price to get in.

The point of our trip to Chesterton, IN was to see the Arboretum and its train display. So glad we accidentally learned of Rileys Railhouse for accommodtions or our trip would have been much less enjoyable. The Taltree will be in time a preservationists pride and joy. The train people were very hospitable and friendly.

Its a wonderful place for a family or by yourself. A person can destress, get educated about nature (animals,soil,woodlands,wetlands,prairies) As the spring season begins in April at Taltree, they is so much to learn and relax as you stroll, run or sit thru out the property there. Has greatly opened my eyes.

A beautiful place to go for a relaxing hike. The identification placards near the trees are especially helpful for those seeking landscaping ideas. They also do a large, outdoor model train exhibit during the warmer months which is pretty unique. Check this hidden gem out!

Family Fun! My boys love the model train garden and they very much enjoy seeing Thomas on the tracks along with the other trains. There is also a bunch of trails for hiking and some animals (goats, turkeys and chickens) which they like to see.

This was a great safe place for my year and a half old daughter to run around and let off her toddler energy. She loved the goats and chickens. Her favorite thing though was playing in the giant sandbox.

We have been members of Taltree for years now and are so pleased by its growth and offerings. We hike, cross country ski, view wildlife, do yoga, admire the train set... one of the hidden gems of NWI.

Its awesome. The train set is a lot of fun, and dont forget to get the scavenger hunt targets. The frogs were cool too! The trees are cool. Even though my kids thought they were stupid and boring.
