Just played a round at Bear Chase on July 5th, 2010 and it was as if we were playing on a little league infield. Even when we decided to allow a person to move their ball backward to find grass we were losing sometimes 10 and 20 yards just to make it work. Im willing to understand that its been dry and hot lately, but that course was roughly 65% grass and the rest was simply fairway dirt. It was awful and theres no doubt in my mind that Ill be looking for another course to meet between Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

Daves review is correct. However, Bear Chase is prone to flooding when rain is an issue and this is the reason the course is the way it is. Certainly not from lack of hard work on the crews part. I suggest getting out there in the spring, before the heavy rains and you will enjoy a serene environment with some challenging target golf. Or, when you call, ask if they have had any flooding recently.

Ugh, course is short, greens are very hard (ball bounced 3+ when hit on green), course is very qwerky. 9th hole boarders SR9, 3 trucks honked while in my swing, dont go left, you will be in road. 9th hole is first I used driver, all others were to short. 1st par 5 had 200 yards to end of fairway before a hard left turn. Would not recommend!!!

The guy in the pro shop was very rude and had extremely poor customer service skills. I drove 30 minutes to be treated so poorly. I will never return to bear chase...plenty of other courses to spend my hard earned money.

Beautiful little course. It does get busy though. Many hazards include a very busy highway 9 in Shelbyville. The entire western end of the course is an O.B., being bordered closely by Highway 9.

Very nice place. I just like a more open concept. It worked well for our class reunion dinner

Sporty course. Scenic, well-designed for the landscape.
