Any of the "good" reviews are from years ago, and if you visit this shop youre going to quickly find out why. They have terrible service, a poor selection, and low quality care of any animal they posses. My husband and I went visited Aquarium World last week to purchase a saltwater fish to keep our other Clownfish company. BY AN EMPLOYEES RECOMMENDATION AND ASSURANCE we purchased another Clownfish. We took her home and she was beating the absolute crap out of the clown that was already in the tank. I IMMEDIATELY called Aquarium World and said, "Shes really giving him a run for his money, if this doesnt work out within the next few days, can I bring him back within the 7-day policy?" At the time, I didnt know I was speaking to the owner of the business. He jumped down my throat as soon as I finished speaking. Saying "my fish arent toys, I dont loan them out, etc." I explain that they always claimed that if within 7-days you could get a refund. He said, "I dont have to put it on anything if I dont want to. Its my business." He told me that if I wanted to bring it back, they would give me a fraction of what I paid, and I could take it or leave it. I began to speak, and he HUNG UP ON ME. I called back, and he handed the phone off to a different worker. My husband called on a different number and the owner answered again and said, "Im not budging. I dont loan out fish." Terrible establishment and a worthless business owner that falsely advertises--and is proud of it!

Unfortunately, this is the only place to get Saltwater fish in Lafayette; short of going Indy. I get all of my SW supplies at PetSmart, and now travel to Indy to avoid going to this store. I gave them multiple chances to prove me wrong, and they have yet to do so. I have been on their "list" to find me a fish (that is EASY to get) for the last six months. I did not want to order online, because Lafayette has had extreme weather this year, but that is exactly what Im going to do. The staff is fairly knowledgeable, but they spend most of their time talking amongst each other or looking at their phones. The tanks are FILTHY, and their fish walls look as though they were made with scrap wood. Their Cichlid selection is minimal, and their stock never changes. In comparison to their competitors, they tend to be a bit overpriced (e.g. their aquariums, reptile supplies, and food supplies). I will not be returning due to many problems that I have experienced here.

I have spent two yrs with this place to get my tank up to pair. Ive bought a good amount of fish from here. Service was good at times. But I went and bought fish last week (3 mollies) and now all my fish are died with ick from these mollies. As they tell me today 4-1-2017. They would replace the mollies but their tanks are fine. So then what killed my whole tank since I havent added anything to it in over a yr. This place is a joke and I will never go back. AND IF YOU VALUE YOUR TANK. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE... I can not believe you guys would treat people who buy from you this way. But then again most mom and pop fish places dont. Just money now days. Here is to cleaning my tank from ick a second time from aquarium world. And buying all new fish!!!smh

This place is my new favorite store. I thought the way of small business aquarium stores was a thing of the past. Not so!!!!! Amazing how the prices are so similar to AMAZON for the exact same products AND you get the bonus of real people! I will pay an extra 0.10 to deal with a human being! The fish are extremely healthy and the tank care is the best I have ever seen. The plants are amazing! The staff knows their stuff and you can find things that I thought were hard to find! I personally love the glass rocks and they are on my "list" for my next trip to the store. I was floored by how reasonable their tank and stand ensembles were, especially compared to the chain stores. Go ahead and visit. You wont regret it!

You know, I dont understand all the bad reviews. I TRULY love aquarium world. I live an hour away and 20 mins from Indy and I still like going to aquarium world better. When I started my first saltwater tank and bought everything new their very knowledgeable, friendly staff helped me get everything I needed. They even gave me like a quote for it all. I do not buy my fish anywhere else, I have never losted a fish I bought from them other than a few that were beat up. The only thing I could even think they could improve on is just the space, sometimes it gets to crowded in there... other than that though I love aquarium world, always have, always will, and will continue to buy my fish there.

Plain and simple, very great exotic fish/pet store. I have been going here for years and this place is awesome! The staff is very very greeting and inviting, always ready for any question you can throw at them. They do a great job training the staff to be knowledgable and have a good understanding of the fish. Store is also very clean and the prices are aight when compared to online, and great compared to other exotic fish stores close to it.

Great locally owned fish store. All of their staff have tanks themselves and are very knowledgeable in both freshwater and saltwater aquaria. Their fish are well cared for and always look happy. Their freshwater plant selection is decent, but they dont use CO2 so expect to deal with hair algae of BBA occasionally. Youll find better pricing online, but Id rather pay a bit more to help out a fantastic LFS.

These guys rock, they are more than happy to talk to you about all of your needs and are super helpful with whatever questions you have. I have been working with them since getting into the hobby and setting up 3 different fish tanks. They are happy to special order anything, including fish and can get whatever it is in stock pretty quickly. As long as i live in the area, i will always go here.

Aquarium world represents the epitome of a local fish store, with a variety of fish available and the option to special order (usually the same if not cheaper than ordering online independently) and a always amazing selection of rocks make aquarium world your number 1 stop for aquarium related supplies. They also have koi and koi accessories however Im not familiar with anything pond related.

The employees are always very friendly and willing to help. They welcome me by name when I come in and i constantly see them doing what they can to keep their fish happy and healthy.

Ive always been very impressed with Aquarium World. I LOVE how very helpful and knowledgeable every staff member is. If someone doesnt know the answer, that person takes the time to find out while you are waiting. The selection is awesome. Anytime my family is running errands, my son wants to know if we can stop by Aquarium World! Truly, a great place.
