We had a great stay here -- 2/4/2012. I am leaving this review to contradict all the BAD reviews for this hotel, they are not giving it a fair review. I was nervous to book this one because of all the negative Google reviews, however I still put a bid on Priceline because this Holiday Inn was the only "modern looking" hotel in the whole town. Everything went SMOOTH, the checkin was fine and they didnt argue about my reservations, etc. Of course I didnt have any special requests at check-in, but the guy in line in front of me spent a long time with several special requests (extra rollaway bed, company discount, etc.) and the guy working the frontdesk handled us both politelly and professionally. My wife and 2 kids and I had a peaceful nights sleep, and my daughter enjoyed stretching her legs in the room which was quite large with 2 beds. it was a clean and quiet stay for us.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Sparta, IL. and had a wonderful stay. We checked in after midnight and Sara was so sweet and helpful, she even signed us up for the rewards program I was interested in signing up but was too tired to do it that night. Sara had signed us up and slipped the rewards card with a letter explaining it under our door before she went home. :) I was so please with the service we received from Sara. :) The next morning for breakfast was exceptional and we received top service and the lady working the breakfast was so helpful and got us anything we needed, and was so friendly! The room was nice and clean, we were very happy! We also enjoyed the cookies they have in the lobby for us for when we returned the next afternoon. Thank you all for the enjoyable hotel stay. We will be staying there next time we come back to visit family.

I have been staying in this hotel for the past three weeks and I must say this is by far one of the worst experiences I have ever been through. The staff does not help you at all, they are constantly rude, and when they screw up it takes several weeks and several phones calls to correct the issue. The rooms are new, but the walls are paper thin and you WILL hear everything the people on either side of you are doing. (right now I can hear the people next door talking about relationships and how men are suppose to treat women!!) As far as cleaning, rooms are only cleaned once every three days. When I first checked in, there was a broken light bulb in the bathroom still screwed into the socket and glass on the floor! I would recommend a different hotel, but there doesnt seem to be a newer one in the area.

The hotel was booked solid for the eclipse on August 21, but the staff rose to the occasion magnificently. The desk staff was friendly, courteous and helpful in answering any questions that we had. Elizabeth Brown and the rest of the housekeeping staff kept the rooms neat and clean, as well as dealing in a friendly, hepful way with any small requests made of them. Miss Diana provided us with good, fresh, warm breakfasts each morning, whether we came down late, in the middle of the breakfast period, or even a few minutes before it started! The food was always good, warm and fresh; and the coffee was never stale. All this, and the rates were reasonable into the bargain!

We took our Girlscout Troop "Camping In" at the Holiday Inn at Sparta, IL. It was a wonderful experience. We rented two adjoining suites which gave us plenty of room at a wonderful discounted rate. We took all of the girls swimming at the indoor pool which had plenty of room and was well maintained. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very accommodating as well. We were provided with a free breakfast that included a variety of choices and was very delicious. We plan to make this an annual event with our Troop. Thank you Holiday Inn for helping us to make lasting memories!

Ive stayed at this hotel on many occasions and always found the staff to be very helpful and the rooms to be clean. I stayed for work reasons and got a corporate discount when I booked the room. Overall my stays were always nice. The only issue I ever had was roomkeeping would knock on my door anytime after 11am (as that is checkout time) even if I had the sign on the door saying quiet please. However, I worked 3rd shift, so didnt get into the hotel until about 6am. Frustrating, but a simple word to the front desk staff solved the issue and it didnt happen again.

Stayed here for Valentines Weekend. 2 nights. Room was fine, breakfast was nice. But upon checkout they said I had already paid for my room through expedia, then proceeded to charge the credit card they took as "deposit" for the entire stay as well as charging the card I used to reserve through expedia! This is the second time I have had this issue with this location. I thought the first time was just a random error. Maybe a new employee making a mistake. I will not make the mistake of staying here EVER again.

I am a regular customer of the hotel for work. The facilities are great. Comfy beds, convenient hot tub and fitness equipment, and a good continental breakfast. Only thing wrong with building is thin walls. I have never stayed here without having some sort of reservation, billing, or other issue. They consistently fail to hold reservations or get the request wrong. One night they gave someone else the same room as I and the complete stranger walked in my room. The hotel is great but the staff is not.

Nice pool and hot tub. Not sure how you can call a small room with only three treadmills a "fitness room". No weight machine at all, just cardio. It is pretty obvious that nobody in this little town can even say the word fitness, let alone know how to train properly by a walk around the Walmart across the street. Oh, and they still have old cathode ray TVs that dont allow you to hook up a game console as the input and menu buttons are disabled. Usually Holiday Inn has better class than this.

No microwave, thin cheap towels, old showers, old TV,fridge has no controls only one temp,no premium cable channels. You come in from a long day and have to go from 3rd floor room on the end to the front office area to heat food and paying 116$ a night is truly ridiculous!!! This place sucks breakfast was the only thing ok

Decent hotel, very nice for Sparta. Room was clean and comfortable, the bed was a little firm for me. Theres a really nice pool/hot tub area, and the exercise room has the normal cardio equipment plus a couple benches and some dumbbells. There arent many options in Sparta, but this place is definitely worth staying at.
