This is the best board and card game store I have ever seen, or frequented; and Ive been to many. The owners, who also staff the store, are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The selection is fantastic, and not at all focused on a certain single card-game like so many stores. They have it all: Miniature games (and painting supplies), RPGs, board games, family games and war games. All this in one of the most elegantly appointed retail spaces you might imagine. Its like a Hilton for board games! They also have several very well-appointed semi-private rooms to reserve for groups of friends (or strangers!) with common interests, to play games. The customers who frequent the store are generally very friendly and helpful, and create a familial atmosphere. The owners and patrons go out of their way to help one find games and related activities that delight, challenge and entertain. The store even helps organize movie-outings on occasion! The store is safe and very family-friendly. They sell snacks and have a menu with neighborhood food selections. The rewards program for frequent customers is generous, and helps to significantly offset the full retail price of their products. For my own part, I dont have a huge disposable income; but I am happy to pay a bit more (generally MSRP) to be able to help support what has become a place and a set of people who make me feel welcome, valued and at home. Sure, I can buy games cheaper elsewhere, but spending a couple of extra dollars to help support the community that is anchored by this store is an investment in a real and tangible quality of life enhancement for me. Wander by the Dragon, you will be enchanted!

Best game store around! Owners make it a point to get to know their clientele and their gaming interests and treat people more like friends, not just customers. The store is beautiful inside, and rooms are available for renting for private gaming sessions. They have an excellent selection of games to purchase and some open box games to play as well. And if they dont have a game in stock, theyll order it for you. Prices are a little higher than some other stores or Amazon, but its totally worth spending a few extra bucks to support a local, family-owned business, and they do run pricing specials periodically throughout the year. These folks have poured their heart and soul into this shop, and it shows. Great place to visit for your gaming needs.

excellent game store in downtown plainfield. most items are MSRP, but there is a loyalty program that gets you 10% back on your purchases (or 20% back on preorders). if they dont have something in stock, they can usually get it within 2 days (assuming its still in print). lots of private game rooms available for a small fee (all day or night for $5/person, or $3/person w/ use of dragons gold from loyalty program, or free with purchase that day). large library of demo copies of games for anyone to play. has a clearly posted no outside food or drink sign on the door, but has a great snack pantry (food & drinks) for reasonable prices, and each private game room has a list of local establishments that can deliver to the store.

A bit overpriced and owner charges $5 a head to game at his shop, which is unusual. I and my friends have had some issues with rudeness from the owner. The owners wife kicked me out of the store for bringing a cup of coffee to an auction, which was pretty amazing. Store consistently posts obviously fake positive (5 star) reviews on Yelp and Facebook, in which the language is similar, and over-the-top laudatory. You are better off going to other gaming stores that have a wider selection, better prices, dont charge you hefty fees to use the tables, are more friendly, and dont engage in deceptive reputation management.

Nerd Heaven!!! We host a tabletop game night for our friends every 2 weeks, so we are always looking for new or classic board games. We have never seen anything the likes of this amazing store, were talking total nerd-gasm as soon as we walked in kind of amazing. I lost count of how many times one of us said, "Wow!!" The selection is enormous, the private gaming rooms are decorated so well that I want to hire these people to decorate my house, and not only the owner but the regular customers also were so helpful that it seems like a family in there. This store is getting my gaming money from now on!

This is an absolutely wonderful game store. Whether you like board games, card games, role-playing games, miniatures games or any other type of game you can imagine, they probably have it and any supplies you might want for that game! They have separated rooms as well as a large, open gaming room and everyone from the owners to the people who come there to play games are friendly. Good for adults and kids alike. Its clean and well-lit, something that cant be said for many stores like this! I cant recommend this store enough. This is what every gaming store wishes it could be!

Not sure what Silke Peiper is talking about but I have bought several games from Wandering Dragon. (Cant comment on auctions or playing at the store). Yes you can find games cheaper online but where cant you find something cheaper online compared to a small town shop. I go there to get a game I really want now and to support our local community. They also have a rewards program which helps a little to offset the higher price. Store owner has always been friendly and has provided several good suggestions for what games to buy based upon other games we have enjoyed.

Definitely the premier board game shop in the Chicagoland area. Owners are friendly and knowledgeable, and the environment is great, its not a sterile and blank looking building. Board games literally cover the walls, but in such a way that it doesnt look cluttered. You can rent rooms for $5 a head for 4 hours, which isnt a bad deal. Prices for the games themselves are $5-10 higher than youll find online, but Im willing to pay that extra little bit to support local businesses, especially ones that have as much love put into them as this one. Highly recommended.

Amazing store. Every shelf, every wall is covered with multiple copies of boardgames. The staff is extremely friendly and is always willing to offer their recommendations on games if needed. I generally spend hours just walking around and hanging out because I love the experience of being in this store. I always make it a point to visit FLGS whenever I am out of town or on vacation but nothing ever compares to when I come home and visit the Wandering Dragon right down the street.

Great place with an amazing collection of games to purchase and small rooms you can rent to game in for the night for a small fee. The owners have never been anything but friendly each time Ive visited and its obvious that the store is a labor of love for them. Its location, selection of merchandise and store layout makes it a gem of a place for all manner of gamers -- be it board games, role-playing games or collectible card games. Glad to live near to such a unique business.

I stopped in once last summer while on vacation and was really impressed by the shop as well as the people. I even signed up for their email list despite being in the area maybe once every other year. I was very happy to see that the Unsale saved The Dragon and hope things only get better going forward. Looking forward to stopping into this lovely little shop again next year. If you are in the area and like games, be sure to stop in - you will not be disappointed! :)
