DO NOT USE THEIR VALET SERVICE UNLESS YOU WANT DAMAGES TO OUR CAR THAT THEY WON’T COVER!!! Our stay was fine at the Fairmont, it was our first time ever in Chicago so decided to use their valet parking option for $80 a night. We came in my brand new 2016 Ford Explorer. HOWEVER, check out time came.... It was raining. The check out process went fine. We headed outside with all of our baggage and waited and waited and waited. WE WAITED OUTSIDE FOR 30 MINUTES WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE TO COME!!! Finally my car came but did not go under the awning. Since it was raining we loaded the car up very quickly and all jumped into the car and left. When we arrived home it had stopped raining and we started to unload the car. My husband noticed a HUGE scratch all the way down the side of the car from one door all the way to the other (probably 3 1/2 feet long). There was also 5 deep scuff marks on the front bottom (like it rubbed against something) and one more deep scratch on the front side of the hood. I was sick to my stomach. My car is BRAND NEW. My husband immediately called the hotel and filed a claim & emailed pictures. 3 days went by and we heard not a word. He called back and was told that the person who settles these claims had been busy with other things and would get back to us as soon as he could. ANOTHER 3 days went by and we were told that they would not be offering anything for the damages they made. Someone did something to my car in their valet staff, and I unfortunately have to pay for both their valet costs AND the cost to fix the car. Makes me wonder if the damages happened while we were waiting 30 minutes for my car to arrive to us! Avoid the frustration and DO NOT GO HERE.

Great Basic Luxury Hotel. I stayed here for leisure on a weekend (Friday through Sunday) and was very pleased with everything. The locations is fantastic. The rooms are basic luxury hotel rooms with all the amenities expected of a hotel of this caliber. They have undergone a renovation but I found that the rooms are still a little rough around the edges. All the doors to the hallway on my floor had scuff marks and my door was a little cracked at the base. Also in the bathroom, the baseboards around the floor were scuffed and cracked a bit, but you really would have to nitpick to let these things bother you. The room was VERY clean and the bathroom was VERY clean and both were spacious. I opted for a lake view, and while I did get one, the hotel is situated as to where you have to peer between two buildings to see the lake. I only paid $USD 30 for the upgrade but the original upgrade price is $USD 100 and in my opinion not worth that. I also had a small issue with the bar in the hotel. I do not drink alcohol and went in to order a soft drink at a very un-busy and slow hour and the bartender was obviously upset I didnt order $USD 50 in alcohol. The rooms being clean and the bathroom being clean coupled with extremely comfortable beds means I would stay here again. I am a Fairmont Presidents Club member so I didnt have to pay for internet but if you become a Fairmont Presidents Club member (I think less than the price one day of internet) you can get free wifi access. I also had a single cup coffee maker in my room with very good coffee. I would definitely recommend staying here.

For such a massive hotel, service has been excellent. Lots of friendly helpful bell hops, concierge, housekeeping, even FedEx business office. Ive got a lot of health issues and some unique complications and took a little effort to get things straightened out but theyve been excellent. I stayed at the nearby Sheraton for a different event previously and had a disastrous time so I had been anxious to book another high end hotel for a conference but truly, the service is excellent. And the rooms are beautiful, very large. The bathroom is a bit odd with the toilet in a tiny room but theres a seperate shower and bath tub and multiple mirrors and countertops so probably one of the most spacious bathrooms Ive ever seen in a hotel and should make it easy for couples to get ready though I was traveling solo. Some great extra amenities are provided in room like an iPhone alarm clock, bathroom scale, lit makeup mirror, etc. Internet is free so long as you join the Presidents Club (their free rewards program). Location is excellent. Very easy to walk to the parks and Art Institute and business and shops around the Loop. Just north is Mag Mile and Navy Pier. Truthfully I booked for a conference and I paid much more than I usually do to stay in Chicago. Chicago is a city with so very much to offer that you wont be in your room much anyway so save your money on your stay and enjoy the shoes and museums and shops but should you be looking for luxury or to attend an event here, Fairmont is great. Better than previous higher end hotel experiences Ive had in the city.

Staff is 5 star! Views are awesome. Gold Lounge is worth every penny. Patarico (boy I hope that I remembered how to spell his name correctly) is the best part of the lounge experience. Food was excellent and the service was the best. The only thing that we didnt enjoy, was the furniture in the room. They could have some of the lounge chairs from the lounge or the waiting area/bar downstairs. The desk chair was terrible. The futon was stylish, but uncomfortable and the sitting bench? why? The TV was huge. The bed was not my comfort level, but okay. Wearing a CPAP, it was hard to sleep in the that bed. Whom ever stayed the night before left the damn alarm on. So it woke me up at 5 am and I couldnt get back to sleep. The service outweighed all the pains of the room and its furniture. The Columbus Tap. eh..expensive and the food was mediocre. The potato chips and pretzel appetizers were worth it.

I stayed here for business (so didnt have to pay!) and was thoroughly pleased with the service I received. The room was beautiful with the best en-suite Ive had for some time, and the staff were extremely helpful. The location could not be beaten - I had a lake view and could walk everywhere of interest in Chicago. The restaurant menu is very impressive. I found it disappointing that I didnt have provisions for making my own coffee in the room, and I also had no way of keeping staff out during the day when I was sleeping off my jetlag (no I dont want the room cleaned, no I dont want the minibar refilled and no I still dont want the room cleaned). I also begrudged having to pay for the WiFi. It does seem that the highest quality hotels are the most likely to neglect those basics that are so important to international business visitors.

The location was great...but we paid over $400 for one night and we had booked a smoking room well we didnt get that then house keeping attendants would only knock on our room door once and then just walk right in before I could get to the door to answer it. Then the next day they told us our checkout would be at 5:30 well we go a call at 1:oo pm telling us that they had more important guest that need our room so they told us to leave so they could have the room...and our train didnt leave till 4:30pm so we had to sit at the train station for over 3 hours just waiting! We could do anything else because we had all of our big suitcases with us. The only nice thing about that hotel as the bellboys they were so nice and extremely kind. So I wouldn’t recommend this hotel…this hotel was supposed to be amazing and all we got was a headache.
