I threw my youngest and oldest nieces two birthday parties at the same time yesterday evening and Natori(a) was our host. She was very polite, understanding, accommodating and EXTREMELY patient because I had 30+ guest, so I was trying to accommodate and entertain them all, so I was running/skating around like a chicken with my head cut off. If I said I would come back to her and then I got lead astray, she would just wait patiently. I apologized allllll evening and she would kindly say it was ok. Other than that, the price, I caught a major deal. The $119 package deal was on sale for $75 for each party and it came with a lot of things, my bday princesses were thrilled, especially when they allowed the children to turn in their skates during the last 15mins and opened the flor up for them to dance. All the children and their parents had an AWESOME TIME! A while back, I hosted a TeamTurneround group outting with my program kids there and we did a combo, skating and bowling, at a reasonable price and their were some major hiccups but Bre**** ( sorry cant remember her name, it was very unique), she was a manager, she took great care of us and made sure we were happy. Booking and the party sign-in process were a breeze. So the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5: 1.) When booking, they made me come into the facility to pay for the bday parties, but last time I was able to make a payment over the phone for my group outting. That was a HUGE inconvenience. I had to take a long lunch at work, which made me have to stay late. 2.) I think a party and their regular sessions hours should be at least 4 hours minimum, 3 hours is so my newt to have fun and party. 3.) LASTLY, I ASSUmed with the package my kiddos would get a FREE pass to come back, but they were passes for them and a friend to get in free, but in very small print it says skates are not included. How wonderful! I guess they have to make money somehow. But overall, great experience during the day, not to sure about the late evening hours. Considering doing a skate outting for my program childrens parents during adult skate night, but I havent heard too many good things to ensure I will plan it. Maybe... 2 thumbs up for our host and all of the staff, especially the young men dancing and working the floor picking up kids and adults that have fallen.

First of all I must say, this was by far the worst experience of my life. I have giving several parties for my children in the Chicago and surrounding suburb area over a 20 year period . My guest and I have never been treated as bad as we were at the MLK skating & bowling center. As a customer you expect the details of your party to be handled before you get there; especially when you’re required to pay a deposit before the party to insure your party’s space and availability. Without making this a long drawled out story (the story that I will be sending to MLK’S corporate office and general manager) the management staff was very unorganized, the security staff was disrespectful, and my party was rushed after their incompetence delayed my party in the first place. I scheduled a party for 4:00pm-7:00pm upon arriving at 4:05pm my child’s name was not on the list and neither could the staff find my contract. I waited around for 30 minutes before I was giving a table that was set and arranged for another child (that child’s name scratched out and replaced by my child’s name). I was giving two small tables for a guest list of 17-20 kids, oh yea and they still couldn’t find my contract until after I spoke with the manager which further delayed my party. The party host was nice but not attentive. My guests were not fed until 6:30pm which forced me to rush with the presentation of the cake and the happy birthday song. During the singing of happy birthday the security officer disrespected one of the male parents with my party which lead to a verbal altercation; that the management staff failed to deescalate. I will never spend another $300 dollars with MLK skating & bowling in Chicago, Il; neither will I recommend any one else to spend their money there either.

I didnt like anything about this place, it was overbooked, crowded and very expensive with a lack of professional services youre suppose to receive. When i got there for my party 15 minutes prior to decorate, i was assigned an inexperienced party host, who had no knowledge of decorating a simple table, or hosting a party. She appeared upset and throughout the duration of my party, she was pretty much out of sight the entire time, my party didnt receive anything i paid for until i finally put up a fuss and then came the cart of pizza that was served with major attitude and with only 45 minutes left to eat and sing Happy Birthday, my cotton candy tower and nacho platter was also served at the same time, so we had to stuff all that down with minutes to spare for cake and icecream, and when my baby made it home he threw up tremendously, im so sure it was because of how fast we had to eat everything then hurry and leave, we were literally shut down and thrown out, this is the last of my business this place will ever receive!!! I asked for a manager 3 times and never saw one, might i add the security guards were very rude, i mean we are dealing with 6 year old children, they were ready to tackle at any moment.....Needless to say as ive read other reviews, the owner only responds to the ones that say they liked this ghetto overrated, overcharged place!!! Ill be contacting corporate and the Better Business Bureau IMMEDIATELY, What did i pay almost $300 for????

I just think that just because you are located in the (hood) does not mean every ones attitude has to reflect. There is a way to inforce the rules without being so nasty. I use to take my daughter there for lessons, and one day I had my 11year old son with me. He was not skating however I had to pay for him to sit in with me. I dont have to pay for myself to sit but I had to pay for him. Greedy and overpriced. Needless to say we dont go any more. Its a shame when you have to leave your neighborhood for fun. I refuse to be overpriced and underappreciated trying to support the African-American community. And to the owner you need to take a minute and come undercover and check out your place.#wehurtourselves. Almost everyone in this area is trying to make a dollar out 15 cents. Businesses look out for your community.

I attended a birthday party for a 5yr old. This place has options to bowl and skate. The party started at 6pm, but after a certain time you can no longer rent skates I stood at the rental counter for like 10 min before someone actually approached and oh you can no longer rent skates the party ends in 30 mins. They also offer different games for kids and Im sorry to say but half of them have out of order signs on them. I have been to this venue several times and it was pretty kool, but unfortunately it appears that the upkeep/maintenance has gone down hill. So hopefully management sees this review and makes the necessary adjustments.
