Went to Armin Van Buurens Freaky Deaky after party last Saturday and was a little nervous after reading all the bad reviews, but ended up having a great time. There was street parking available, but parking in the lot next to the venue was only 15$ and was well lit and watched by security. The security getting into the venue (checking IDs, taking tickets, etc.) was really nice in my opinion. They were courteous while checking my ID and ticket and the pat down was normal/not inappropriate at all. Id say they were a little friendlier than The Mid and about the same as The Aragon. The venue itself is like a cross between The Mid and The Aragon for those who are familiar. Id say its more of a bar than a music hall, but its still a great space. The dance floor is pretty big and theres seating scattered throughout the venue which was really nice. Theres a balcony that overlooks the floor/stage and is a little less crowded than the main floor. The sound was decent and then venue was clean. The only complaint I have is that Armin went on at 2 which is a little late even for an after party, but other than that I have no complaints. Planning on coming back at the end of the month for Seven Lions. Overall, Id say it was the same routine as any other EDM event in Chicago. Edit: Attended Seven Lions last weekend and had a very positive experience once again. The outside staff was very organized and there was no waiting outside like some other venues. Once we got inside there was plenty of room to move about and the upstairs balcony was completely open to general admission with abundant seating/room to dance which is a godsend in most venues in Chicago. The sound was clear and loud without being distorted or uncomfortable. Edit: Attended the Morgan Page/Borgeous concert last Friday and had a great time. We arrived there around 10 pm, parked, and walked in with no line. Coat check only took a few minutes and although it was a sold out show the dance floor wasnt overcrowded which was really nice.

Probably the best venue in town if you like a place with a no nonsense staff that does their job to the best of the ability and is friendly, and provides a safe environment. A few other places that host EDM events look upon your personal possessions as a way for the security guards to get free stuff and will try and confiscate anything on you for any reason, and then the security guard will pocket it. Not so with concord. They are fair and do things by a rule book. No cavity search on entrance but they will pat you down and do a quick drug search. They do so many shows that they have doing shows down to a science. They will tell you where you can and cant stop in the hallway but thats so they can get everyone in and out in an fast and orderly manner. inside the venue, they just upgraded the sound system and it is very good. The bass is suberb and crystal clear, although they dont always turn it up all the way. Openers tend to be played quieter then the main acts which kinda bothers me but seems to be fairly common. Security inside the venue has many eyes watching to make sure no fights break out and no one is engaging in open drug use or smoking. There is no smoking of any kind anywhere in the venue, so smoke up before you go in. The security team has many eyes and theres a very good chance they will see you if you just pull a pill out of your pocket and pop it. So dont just do it in the main venue area. Every time I go there i see people get taken away for it, and it happens all night long. If you have to do drugs, do them before you go in preferably or theres a very good chance your night will end badly. So yeah good venue, great sound, looks great inside, almost like a nightclub, much better than a warehouse. multiple levels usually are open. 3 bars main level 2 bars upstairs when theres big enough crowd to open the balconies. Leave anything with an LED at home as they try to avoid seeming like a drug fueled rave club. Same with masks an bandanas, not allowed.

I wanted to post this review because, contrary to a lot of the reviews on here, my friends and I had a great time at this place. We were there for Blind Guardian and it was amazing. I was a little worried after reading the reviews on this venue, but we went anyway because BG only gets to the states once every few years. Anyway. The place looked nice, was pretty clean and looked like it was well maintained. The staff checking IDs and pocket checks were direct, but not impolite. It seemed like they were just trying to keep people moving and not hold up the line, I didnt think they were rude at all. Drink wise, yeah they were a bit pricey, what concert hall isnt? On the plus side they had a bunch of bars spread through out the place. I literally never had to wait for a drink. The venue itself is not huge which I prefer personally, because you can pretty much be standing around anywhere in the place and not be far from stage. Some people like bigger places, but really I think it is just personal preference. Security and bouncers seemed cool. I didnt notice them jumping in to ruin any moshing and there was even some crowd surfing done that seemed to go without problems. I dont think anyone at the show felt like security was being over-zealous. Maybe it just has to do with the age/maturity of the fans, but I didnt see the problems people had listed here. On the way out the staff was courteous in managing the crowd. Keeping people moving and keeping the doors clear. I even saw a few people waving in taxis and such, they looked like staff, but I cant say for sure they were concord staff or part of a parking staff or something else. Either way it seemed to be going smooth. Overall the show was great, the staff worked well and certainly werent the assholes people had posted on these reviews. I would not hesitate to catch a show here again.

Went there yesterday for the Summer Slaughter Tour, which I take my son to for his birthday every year. The last 2 years it has been at The Rave in Milwaukee, so I was a bit apprehensive due to reviews and being in an unfamiliar place. Have to say it was a great experience! The staff were friendly...every last one of them. Never had an issue. You were given a green wrist band and a red ink check mark if you were over 21 and an orange wrist band to allow you to leave the venue twice and gain reentry. They just marked it when you left the first and second time, then entering back the second time they took the band off. They do have an outdoor smoking section so you didnt have to leave to have one. Beer was 8 bucks each. Expensive, but thats what you get at events and it wasnt a shocker. It was like 90 degrees outside, but inside was pleasantly cool....even with all those people. I didnt feel crowded in there at all and had a great view of the bands that played standing above the center bar on the platform located behind the bar. I could even get my beer while standing up there, not having to leave my spot. I parked behind a little Mexican restaurant across the street for 20 bucks, which is fine...Ill pay that to walk out the door and cross the street to my car any day. Security wasnt Nazi at all. In the day and age we live in, I would consider their security measures in line with any other sports event or concert. They had 2 lines for security, males to the right and females to the left and had gender appropriate security people. All in all, a very fun and great experience! I liked the place, as did my son. Id go back there in a heart beat. Easy to get to, parking was not a problem and the neighborhood was decent. I would recommend the venue to others.
