I am a native Mobilian and grew up respecting the Saenger. However, after going to an event there recently, Im having second thoughts. The show was an extremely popular one and was crowded. We wandered around before the show and looked at the building. The hallways were water stained and carpet needed repair. Building looked its age, Not the great venue Mobile deserves. Old musty carpet that looked from the 80s. Our seats were way up top. I didnt have a problem with that, other than they were child seats. I mean they were small, very small. After a few minutes in the seat, I realized they were painfully uncomfortable. We (my wife and I) went to find management and not ask for better seats, but more physically comfortable seats. Joe DeLaronde, the director of Operations was rude and basically said that was all that was available. I asked if we could stand in back, was told no. No other seats available. No refund was available either. We left without seeing the show with tickets in hand. I will never return to the Saegner and wish Mobile would demo the place and build something nicer. Mobile deserves something nicer, not a water damaged run down building with bad management.

Visited here to see Robert Plant perform. Its a lovely old theater with a tad under 2000 seats. Acoustics arent bad, but also not great. At least not necessarily for loud rock music. Our seats were above an exit and midway through the show the exit walkway was getting crowded with people preferring to stand there to watch the show rather than sit in their seats. With the angle of the seating, this crowd of about 12 obstructed our view of the stage. There was no usher or security to clear the area. Aside from an inconvenience it was probably a hazard. Management should work to improve this.

This is a beautiful venue. The acoustics are not perfect, but it is not going to be a problem with most acts. The people of Mobile kept me from giving it a fifth star, however. Why would someone spend good money on a ticket to see John Prine and Shovels and Rope, and then talk loudly to their friends about the grocery list or which airline has a better points system, or even worse, shout out the lyrics while the legendary John Prine was trying to sing them? Security should have put an end to this, as it bothered not only everyone else in the house, but also disrespected a musical legend.

I took my wife to see Mutiny on the Bounty and was very disappointing that after about 20-minutes into the movie I had to tell them there was a problem with the movie freezing up about every 2-minutes since the beginning, then they decided to clean the CD after another 5-minutes of the same - but only after I got up again and requested a refund. The worst part is there was someone at the projector the whole time who should have had the common sense (decency) to stop the movie and clean the CD earlier in the movie when it was obviously a continuing problem.

I have been to the Saenger theatre several times for dance competitions and recitals, we have never had any issues. However; the recital on June 18, 2016 was not as we are use too. The manager and deckhand were great, but sound guy made several mistakes and was very rude to the dance staff. His performance and attitude was definitely unprofessional. He didnt seem equipped to handle several cds nor did he seem to care. Im sure we will be back but I thought you guys should know about this to avoid future complaints.

We were there for a recital on June 18. The music was a mess. My daughter competes at numerous competitons and I have never had this type of bad experience. The wrong music was played numerous times. The dancers would be onstage and continuously have to sit and wait until their correct song was played. The music would cut off during dances, etc. very disappointing knowing how hard these dancers have worked all year. The recital is supposed to be fun, but instead it was frustrating.

This theatre takes you back to a different time period. from the elegant chandelier that hangs in the middle of the theatre to the velvet curtains that hang from the sides, this place is elegant, tasteful and the entertainment they book will not disappoint.

Great theatre. Beautifully decorated. Great sound. All seats we good. Seating a bit cramped. Cash only bars. Bathrooms and bars in balcony lobby as well. Dont try downstairs if you have to go up anyway.

Beautiful inside - they sell drinks which is a plus - my biggest negative is that the balcony seats a horribly small. My boyfriends 64 and his legs had to fold 3 times to fit. The floor seats are much larger

Been here twice, great music or comedy venue. The sound system is updated and seats are comfortable. Long ass lines for the two bars and not a designated parking lot, besides that, great!
