Been a homeowner at the Orchards for 8 years, and have tried to remain a loyal customer of my home course over all that time...but today is the last day Ill play there. Over the years, different owners and less than favorable weather have contributed to less than stellar course conditions...but thought with the renovation of holes 16 and 17...the organization was finally turning the corner. The course is in terrible shape, and the greens on #8 and #14 have died. The greens on #3, #9, and 18 are very stressed, and even the new holes at #16 and #17 are very close to being brown all over. While easy to blame the 100 degree heat...local courses such as Tamarack, Clinton Hills, Stonewolf, and even Cardinal Creek at Scott AFB have none of these problems. Worst part is the Orchards is still charging premium rates for a less than satisfactory playing experience. I was part of a 12 player group today, and not one will return. I moved to the Orchards because of the course, and its disappointing to see the decline. I see many favorable comments, but think anyone who has played the course recently would agree. The staff is indeed friendly...just wish the course was just as friendly.

Greens in excellent shape, fairways not so much. Ive played here many times over the course of the last 4 years and they continue to make small improvements. The greens are in excellent shape and well maintained. The fairways on the front 9 are in poor shape and in need of some reseeding. The fairways on the back 9 are better except 18 which is in horrible shape and in the process of being repaired. Finally, the carts and cart paths are in poor condition. They needed to change the carts several years ago and the paths are all falling apart with lots of pot holes. This course remind me of a place that does the best they can with a limited budget. Its in the best shape that Ive ever played, but it needs lots and lots of improvements. It was a great value and if you havent played it in several years, you should try it again.

Staff is friendly and greens have improved tremendously over past four years. Have been playing there for 20 plus years and it has changed ownership a few times. Current ownership has continued to invest back into course and make improvements. More than anything, the current ownership inheirited a course that needed a lot of work and they seem committed to getting it done. The fairways as noted in other reviews need a lot of work on five or six holes and my bet is that this will get done over the next two years. Its a tough business to be in and I give the owners a big thumbs up for reinvesting.

The fairways were in very rough shape in some places. About 1/2 of the holes had an unmarked drainage ditch across the fairway (often hidden behind a hill). The course is in a somewhat beautiful setting and the service from the staff was good. This was a challenging course. Most holes are straight but narrow corridors without another hole on either side. Instead there are houses on one or both sides of most holes. If you slice or hook badly, be prepared to hit some houses.

It is a nice layout and when I was there the staff was very friendly. The fairways were in horrible shape. Very dry and tons of dirt spots. Price were $20/18 holes w/cart at noon. I think if the greens and fairways were in better shape I would have enjoyed it better. Oh and other golfers there, wether they were residents or visitors, were friendly and considerate beings my game does drag a bit at times.

The course is nice but is way over priced. For being $30+ during the week and $40+ one the weekends the course isnt in the best shape. There are several fairways are eroded and greens are just ok. Dont plan on playing this course after it rains. It does not hold rain well at all, and can be a swamp after the rain. I only play this course if I have a discounted or free greens fee.

I enjoy playing here, but the course has been in rough shape for the past several years. Several of the fairways are in poor condition and are mainly dirt. The fairways on holes #1, #4, #5, and #18 especially are in very poor condition. You are better being in the rough then hitting out of the dirt on those fairways. How hard is it to spread grass seed and water to repair these?

I really like the layout of this course. The fairways are in MUCH better shape than in the past. The staff is very friendly and the prices are excellent. Dale David, the head pro, is great. If you tried it in the past and didnt love it then Id recommend giving it another shot. Youll be pleasantly surprised.

I enjoy playing golf at the Orchards. The course winds through a neighborhood, sits on a hill overlooking Bellville/Shiloh area. Great views, and fairly easy course to play. The greens are not the best kept, lots of divits and sand. Its a little over-priced, but not a bad course if you play the twilight hours.

This Course is in absolutely horrible condition at least 6 of the greens were completely dead....the fairways are not much better. I agree that the weather has not been favorable but the other courses in the area have been able to maintain playable golf courses.

I am lucky enough to have a friend in Belleville that is a member of your course. He and I played 18 and I am so looking forward to playing again this year, The course is excellent. When I left Belleville the course was not there. 1953.

Good experience overall. Needs some better deals regularly to make it worth dealing with some of the poor dirt-like "fairways". With a little better upkeep or a better price Id give it 5 stars.

Most the greens were good, the atmosphere is great, course needs a lot of work before I golf it again. Fairways are in terrible condition! Overall maintenance i thought was poor.
