I recently stayed at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel for a workshop and stayed at the hotel for four days. Below are my likes and more extensively my dislikes. Likes: -Some of the staff was friendly -The grounds are beautiful -The exterior is well kept for an over 100 year old hotel -There are plenty of activities including boat tours, biking, walking tours, historic tours, beach, croquet. -Transportation was provided to the beach, restaurants, activities at no charge - well except for the tip. Dislikes: -The room I was originally checked into was dirty and shabby. Dirty means pubic hair on the counter in the bathroom, food on the floor, sticky stuff on the tables and end tables, finger prints on the TV and mini bar, stains on the wall, dusty lamps, a pair of underwear (not mine) behind the headboard of the bed, dusty lamps, hair on the sheets, several bugs, a musty smell, and a duvet cover that looked like it had never been washed. Shabby means there was chipped paint on the baseboards and doors - it didnt look like it had been painted in a very long time. The furniture was old, stained and not well maintained, the attached porch had a leak, and the bathroom fixtures were old and damaged. -I requested a room change and the second room was only slightly better...this room also had chipped paint, mysterious stains and I killed three bugs while staying in that room - one of the bugs was a brown recluse spider. -The cleanliness in the ballroom and dining room where we ate catered meals was also sub par. Including food on the floor, stains, worn furniture. -The catered lunches and breakfasts were not impressive and while there was plenty of food the food was bland and either under cooked or over cooked. -I ordered room service twice and on both occasions the food (chicken) was undercooked and the prices were outlandish. -My last evening I went to a snack restaurant in the hotel and paid $15 for a turkey sandwich (which had old turkey in it)...which is outrageous! Also, this snack shop was filthy - a layer of dirt under the soda machine, dirt on the wainscoting, battered furniture, sticky counters. -One of the restaurants on the nearby pier had nightly bands that played very loud music well into the evening - loud enough that sleep was difficult. -The bed was like sleeping on a brick. The mattress was very old (no comfort top here) and the sheets were like sandpaper. -The bellmen/valet where very vocal about how you can tip...yes I get it you want a tip. It got to be annoying and did not say the place was quality. -I saw one of the housekeeping staff on the computer in the room next to mine that belonged to the guest not the housekeeper. I was outraged by this...to think staff was using your personal items. I wouldnt let them enter my room after that point. -The first night I was there it was raining heavily and the water on the stairs was not cleaned up...so I slipped and hurt my back when I fell on the stairs. When I told the staff (so no one else would get hurt) they were indifferent. -The hotel did not provide any premium channels like HBO...this is surprising considering the price. -The hotel gift shop was sad featuring tacky and expensive items that had layers of dust on them. -The hotel ATM machine charged a $3.75 usage fee (needed more cash for tipping...seriously I spent $100 on tips) -The hotel is not handicapped accessible...you have to walk up several flights of stairs before you event get to an elevator. I had to climb 5 flights of stairs to even get to my room. What was surprising about the condition of the hotel was the prices spoke of a quality hotel, but was outlandish considering the conditions. Also, this is the hotels 125th anniversary...you would think they would paint the place for the celebration. I have stayed in over 100 year old hotels before and have always enjoyed the character, but that was not the case at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel - this place had dirt, bugs, disrepair and NO CHARACTER! I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!

This was a great location for a weekend getaway. Well I made it a 4 day stay. My college buddy and I drove down to the island of Jekyll Club, and we had a room reserved in one of their houses, not the main hotel. It was a lovely room, with a beautiful corridor and the view of the marsh was superb. We were steps from the pool, which was rarely crowded. We love to drink on vacation, so in addition to their top of the line bar- we brought some of our own very fancy wine (and hennessy). I rate this hotel a 5 because it has all the amenities of a resort, and a 5 star staff. They are all so helpful and kind. The bike tour of the island is so fun. I loved taking the relaxing carriage ride too, but dont get a friendly tour guide otherwise your gonna get to know each other instead of the islands history- see how nice they are! Anyway- an unforgettable Georgia Resort- great destination for road trippers who need a weekend getaway spot- worth the drive!

Our whole family enjoys going to Jekyll Island for one week every summer. We have been playing one of these three courses, when we come. The Golf Course Staff is always friendly and helpful! The management tries really hard to keep the greens & fairways in good condition. You can usually see many forms of wildlife from Deer, to exotic birds on these courses! Also, try the restaurant at the Clubhouse for breakfast! The food is very good! Thanks again!

My husand and I had a fun, relaxing time at The Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Our room overlooked the garden and pool. The staff was top of the line (with exception to the Grand Dining Hall staff). We enjoyed lounging by the pool and the complimentary shuttle service to anywhere on the island. The rooms made us feel as if we were royalty. We will definitely visit again!

Well, I wasnt planning on golfing while I was on vacation here on Jekyll Island, but I had some free time so I decided to at least go and hit some balls. For $10 I was able to hit 2 buckets of balls, and they provided me with a couple of clubs. I had a great workout, and would like to thank Mason for his kindness and helpfulness.

One of the best 18 holes Ive played. Quiet and serene, we saw lots of wildlife. They really make sure the pace stays steady so you are not pushed. The course is in wonderful shape - any of the 18 hole courses will do. I am definitely coming back! The staff at the Pro Shop are super helpful as well. Cathy , Jacksonville, FL

Georgias largest public golf complex boasts 63 holes that are well maintained. Jekyll has already offered good golf at an affordable price point. Every hole is a walk in nature with no homes lining the golf courses.

Playing right now had a 9:44 tee time. Pull up to the first tee at 9:44 and there are 14 people on the box! Asked if I could start on 10 was told no. Poor management. Only can hope it gets better.

Our threesome had a great time, even in the rain. Spencer at the pro shop was friendly and even helped me get a new pair of shoes when mine blew out. Great service and and awesome course to play.
