This is a minor battlefield site that is only lightly maintained in a more or less natural state. The site features a fairly short trail system with plaques describing the battle spread throughout. The old rail path cut through the ridge line is a point of interest, as are the memorials for the fallen of both sides. The site has free public parking (daylight hours only), but no other facilities ( i.e. no restrooms, no campsites, no water or concessions, etc.). This is a nice site to go for a quiet walk in the woods. Youll likely come across a few locals walking their dogs, but the place is never crowded. If you are walking for the exercise, you can cover the entire site in about half an hour; if you are taking time to read the historical markers and observe your surroundings you should allocate a couple of hours to take it all in.

This is a beautifully preserved battlefield maintained by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources via Red Top Mountain State Park. There are good interpretive panels throughout that explain the battle and the battlefield. Every October (usually around the 5th - the anniversary of the battle) a special event is held which includes tours of the battlefield, blackpowder demonstrations, and a Civil War camp. Its not really a reenactment because two sides arent fighting each other. The trails are very nice but can be steep at certain points. The only downside right now is that the parking lot is very small.

Not what I was expecting when I heard it was a battle field. I was surprised that this much park and good time spent walking the many quiet trails was free. There are a lot of educational battle info sign, no artifacts but you do see the trenches. This is a nice place to walk and spend about a hour or two. Could use some picnic tables. The cut for the train tracks is cool.

Nice place to walk and not too crowded. Ive been a few times and, for the most part, hardly see another soul there. The parking lot is small, say 20 cars at most, and normally, there are less than three there when I come (weekday afternoons). Paths are clearly marked and well maintained and the Civil War memorial is quaint. Good place for a nice walk or a short run.

We love this place for toddler/child friendly hiking. Its shaded, stroller friendly and beautiful. We usually stop at the lakeshore to skip rocks or play in the water before hiking back.

Nice hike and learning adventure, real neat that you can see the trenches they were fighting out of an the dirt walls of 5 points. They need to mow around the monuments.

This is a nice place to hike. You have the option of very flat and easy to some moderate stuff. It doesnt seem to be really busy during the week which is a plus to me.

I love this spot, needs a larger parking lot, though lots of good history. Trails could be more defined, maybe a good project for an Eagle Scout or HS student one day.

Nice , historic park. A good alternative to Kennesaw Mountain, without the crowds. Would be better if there were more parking.

You dont get the feel of bygone days and the notices on route are all there is. If your passing its worth a brief stop
