The food was great and the service was ok. The food tasted fresh and with great flavor. I had the cheese sticks (though they are more like a little cakes). Wish they had cooked longer for a more crispy outside. Sadly they were placed on a lettuce leaf and the moisture made the bottom of the breading on the cheese stick soggy, and the sauce was cold. Next time skip the green (maybe sprinkle some garnish instead), cook them a tad longer, and have the sauce served hot. Bam, winning. Orderer a large pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese pie. DELICIOUS! This pizza was one of the best Ive had in Florida. Nice thin crispy crust, big round pepperonis, nice chunks of sausage, although it could have used more cheese (as I was not sure if it was extra cheese), the cheese was nice and stringy as you pulled the slices apart. Oh and the sauce was very good. It had nice small chunks of tomatoes and it sure appeared fresh made. The service was just ok. We made the trip hoping to enjoy some of the wine that it is advertised, but it was not even mentioned by the waiter, nor listed in the menu. Lots of wine around the restaurant, but no wine list. We looked around some of the bottles, but that was it. The place has the potential to be a cool wine and pizza place, but it just ends up being just another pizza joint without the whole experience. There was only one person on the front of the house, and I am sure if there was any way to have another person to help around and better engage the patrons, it could be even a better place where a nice meal with wine, appetizers, main entree, dessert, and coffee to make a nice whole experience. If I am down in Sarasota again, will give this place another try.

Update 2/2/13 - I am pleased to say that I have returned to Goodfellas Cafe twice since my initial review was posted here and that I have been welcomed warmly, enjoyed excellent food, and that the service was excellent on both occasions. It appears that my first visit was, in fact, just an "off" night. Give this place a try, youll be glad you did. Ambiance was very good - warm and friendly, food was excellent - but the service was not impressive. We came on a recommendation from a coworker who told us how amazing the fresh, homemade pasta was - he was right. Great wines, balsamic. The large crowd demonstrated how delicious the food was. Very affordable menu, perfect portions. Unfortunately, they were busy and the waitresses were clearly completely overwhelmed. Waited a long time for initial service, order was taken wrong, ordered items were never brought to table, tiramisu arrived at table completely frozen and was sent back and returned still in unacceptable condition after long delay. Manager apologized but made no offer to compensate us for additional wait, unsatisfactory service. The failed dessert should really have been complimentary, but we were charged for it anyway. Will probably return and give them another chance, however, because of the high quality of the food but truly hope next time service improves. It was the only failing in what would have been a spectacular meal.

We ordered as a delivery, and as we got it, everything seemed hot, so we were hoping it would be okay. Well, wrong.. the pasta was very mushy, the sauce tasted like jar sauce. The eggplant tasted like just breading. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was like a brick, and the garlic bread was like eating soggy bread. It was the first and last time we are ever ordering from this place again. And the final thing that really got to me, was that this disgusting food costs us $55. DEFINITELY not worth it. I would rather eat Burger King.

The pizza is so delicious. It is made with fresh ingredients and coal fired with a spectacular crust. I attended a fundraiser recently at Calusa Brewing and the Goodfellas food truck was scheduled to be there. I told Dave the owner about the fundraiser and he offered to donate a percentage of profits to the campaign. It turned out to be a great day in part to the Goodfellas team. They are always giving back to the community. I have heard great things about their food and wine and cant wait to try more.

The Best Italian Food in Florida!! Just like mama made in her own kitchen. Im from up north and moved here a year ago, miss that North End Italian flavor until Mothers Day this year. My son took me for lunch and it was awesome, I was back at home when I walked in. My son and I could not believe how fresh everything is. Thank You to my son for taking me here and thank you to Goodfellas for the best home made Italian food since Mama made!!!

We are from St. Louis and we stopped in and so glad we did. The 18" pizza and garlic cheese bread was awesome. The carrot cake is to die for. I will definitely bring family and friends here. Everyone makes sure you are happy and our waiter was great. He kept up on our drinks and taking plates when finished. If you are in the neighborhood stop by you will be happy you did.

This was the worst pizza I have ever had. The onions and green peppers were close to raw. They dont warn you that they put red pepper flakes on the pizza prior to serving when other restaurants make it optional by leaving a jar on the table. The dressing on my Caesars salad was way too overwhelming with anchovy taste. If you enjoy good pizza, go somewhere else.

Apparently an off night. No tea, no lemonade or any drinks for children, no bud light in bottle, no ranch dressing, most importantly NO bathrooms! I had to leave, take my daughter who is 5 to McDonalds to go to the bathroom and get her a lemonade and go back to meet our party. Thank God the pizza was good!

This is a small little family winery and pizzeria with some of the best pizza i have ever had. The decor is great with an Italian deli and wine shop. For $20 you can get a very excellent pizza and bottle of homemade wine. Much more pleasurable dining experience than Ricos. Would recommend to everybody

Great Quality, the Food is Authentic and Fresh. They make their own pepperoni, sausage and pastas. They infuse their own olive oils, balsamic vinegars and wines as well. They have a brick oven for pizzas. If you get the chance to visit this place you will keep coming back again and again.

One of the best pizzas Ive ever had here in Florida. Closely reminds me of the Pizza I used to eat in Sao Paulo Brazil. Cheap menu prices as well. And their fusion wines are delicious. I highly recommend! The owner is very charismatic and is always greeting and speaking to the guests.

Went to Goodfellas this past Friday for the first time. We had the mussels in tomato sauce and a pizza. He said it brought back memories from his childhood having pizza from Marios in Clifton, NJ.! Enjoyed it very much! Service was good as well.

Great pizza, our server was amazing and very friendly. Great atmosphere relaxing. Wine is a little on the sweet side and wasnt a fan. You could sample before you buy which is a plus. Free olive oil tasting with bread.
