Not the zoo I recall as a kid. The place was clean. But the animals looked kinda sad and pretty miserable. The black bears looked very aggravated as they were on the top of there habitat pacing and one was swinging his head almost hitting it off the wall. More animals and bugs and rodents and birds you could goto petco and see then real zoo animals. The habitats are in need of face lift some really need one. They dont look to good. I couldnt figure out why they dont have the habitat kinda similar to where the animal would live at? Like a polar bear would look kinda snowy and cold but no they have penguins standing in a fence on top a manhole cover surrounded by grass and weeds. A lot of the habitats were over grown with weeds. The tiger looked and look im not a tiger expert but it did look skinny and mad. Its habitat looked terrible. Weed all over a could card board boxes and it was just sad. The zoo was more of an upset because the way the habitats looked more then anything. But the kids of course liked it so i guess that counts for something. And it does beat sitting at home. I guess if your a city slicker then you probably wont mind it. But not being from the city I see most of the stuff on a pretty daily bases except for the obvious zoo animals. I guess that might have been the problem Idk. And after being to Disney i guess i may also be a little spoiled on what things look like and can be done.

Its a SMALL ZOO, but Its a 1st RATE ZOO. The "ERIE ZOO" does OFFER some GREAT RIDES including a SUPER Train Ride around the ZOO. Theres an OLD ADAGE that goes "LIONS, TIGERS & BEARS OH MY" that Applies here, EXCEPT for maybe, The Bear. My Aunt & Uncle brought me here when My COUSINS & I were SMALL FRYS. The "ERIE ZOO", back then, Competed w/ other ZOOS like the "PITTSBURGH ZOO" bc they had too. Alot of people drove down to PGH & MORE took the TREK up to the "CENTRAL PARK ZOO" in NEW YORK CITY. "CLEVELAND" has a "ZOO" thats getting ATTENTION Now too. My Oldest Daughter & Her Husband went to the "ERIE ZOO" a few years ago w/ their kids & ALL 4 really ENJOYED their VISIT & My Grandkids told me about the GREAT ATTRACTIONS that they saw. Theres ALOT of GREAT THINGS that do HAPPEN at the "ERIE ZOO" & knowing that its there, Makes it a GREAT Idea to VISIT there. 1 More Thing, What I love is that the MAIN ENTRANCE looks like, (to me anyways), "THE ALAMO" in "SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS". Not a BAD thing, Is it?

The erie zoo is getting boreing they need to get a new attraction. Then i was standing at the tiger cage and seen it was very skiny and then a worker walked by and they had 3 bags of dog food for the animals which i find pretty sad and if u look at a tigers diet it needs real food to stay healthy its not normal to change an animals diet. Also both rinos were hot and they only had a little bit of water to bath in and were trying to go inside. I suggest you take better care of your animals. Also you guys need more staff. We werent able to go see kangeroos because of it. One thing i found unreasonable you guys had a lot of animals inside because it was cold which i understand but panguins are meant for cold so plz let ur visitors know why your animals are inside. We spent a lot of money and went there and you guys didnt have any bears, male lions, or elephants, you guys need more animals. If you cant take care of your animals then dont have them.

Hey all zooers, First of all walking into the zoo, you get hit by the smell of gorillas and other animal species. They have many attractions for any age that your child could possible be, or if your an adult, you can look at many cool animals. The whole park isnt that bad, if your tried of the zoo, you can walk by a nearby park. Than if the zoo isnt your cup of tea, buckle up and get on the fun train ride, toot toot. The train ride is about 15 mintues of pure fun, go through a spoopy tunnel m, through a dam, then back to the zoo. Not many exciting animals are at the zoo, but the marakarts steal my heart, truly the most fun is during zoo boo. All the families gather around in their costumes and walk are the zoo. If you have some spare money, visit the sovineer shop to wrap up your day at Erie Zoo, many fun toys. Ok bye.

Now before I say anything, let me just say Im not one of those animal right nutjobs and I love zoos as much as the next person. However, this zoo was horrible! The animals were in tiny cages. The cages that the tiger and jaguar were in was smaller than my living room. Thats just not right! The jaguar was pacing back and forth along the perimeter of the cage, and it definitely didnt have room to run. They had a decent monkey exhibit, but there were no elephants. Not really the important part of this review, but really. What kind of a zoo doesnt have elephants? I was very disappointed in this zoo and I think it either needs to be shut down or they need to get bigger cages for the animals.

The Erie Zoo is a special place for our family. Its always fun to see the animals. I love the special events and all the kids camps and classes. They have some pretty amazing adult programs also. No visit is complete without stopping by the carousel. It is a true work of art featuring endangered animals! No two animals are alike. Right now, the playground is being renovated. It looks like the new one is going to be a real treat for the kids! Be sure to stop and see the siamangs and orangutans on your way to the train ride. The Erie Zoo is a great place to spend some time with your family!

The exhibits are EXTREMELY out of date and terrible for the animals! Small, overgrown, and non compatible to the animals living in them. More concrete than dirt, which is always sad and is why most zoos no longer have it that way. The grounds themselves were dirty and unkept and the facilities werent clean either. Im SO surprised to see such good reviews on this place but being the only zoo around and the next closest 2 hours away I can understand people being use to the poor conditions and not being able to compare them to other zoos. Very sad situation over all. Renovate please!
