Great place to come dance, hang out with friends, and get your drink on! If you dont mind a few drunk fools, tobacco smoke, and the occasional outburst (which security does an amazing job at addressing.) Derek is one of the best bartenders that I have had the pleasure doing business with. He has a vast knowledge of the art of liquor and seamlessly remembers your drink, even with a packed bar! My girl and I come here religiously every Friday and Saturday and dont plan to stop! Ive only had one bad experience at the Waterin Trough and it was with one of the female bartenders. I was unable to get her name, but she was tending the bar on a Saturday night when Derek was out. I am one of the few patrons, possibly the only, that orders scotch from the well during Sink or Swim. I approached the bar, asked for a scotch and Pepsi and inquired where Derek was, and when I returned to my seat and took a sip I had received whiskey and Pepsi... So when I went to have my cup refilled I specifically requested Inver House Scotch, which Derek usually keeps in the cabinet on the bend in the bar. I was told by the bar tender that she couldnt serve me that because it wasnt a well . I then pointed to the cabinet and described the bottle to her and was again told that it wasnt on the well and that, "They are all basically the same."..... For a bartender to say that, "They (whiskey & scotch) are the same.", is beyond me and I stared at her for a second and settled for another whiskey. Again, this was my only negative experience here, otherwise the Trough is the place to be!

I would have given this a five-star review, however before I even got inside with my boyfriend and another friend I was reconsidering entry. We visited this place for the first time on a Saturday and were unfamiliar with their entry cost and specials (Sink or Swim). While waiting in line my female friend and I were chatting and enjoying our conversation when the girl working the counter reprimanded us. Yes, she pulled a librarian move and scolded us for talking and laughing. She gave us a stern, "Ladies!", followed by a dirty look. The group behind us was even louder and as far as I was concerned we were allowed to talk and enjoy our wait in line. Once we got up to the girl at the counter we asked what the Sink or Swim was as there were no signs explaining it other than the cost. It took the three of us a minute to decide what we wanted and again we were scolded by the other lady who hands out the wrist bands. She said, "You guys need to hurry up or get out of line." Sorry, I know there was a line behind us but we were unfamiliar with their specials and were trying to make an informed decision. The drinks for the Sink or Swim were pretty watered down and wasnt worth the $15. If it werent for the fact that we were meeting another group who was already inside I would have left and gone elsewhere. Aside from the rude staff in the front, the facility itself was a great size and the music was awesome.

I have been spoiled by going to the round up for years. Tonight was my first, and last visit to the watering trough. Horrible service, horrible bartenders, and horrible DJ and sound setup. First off i paid for sink or swim, and received this disappointment of a cup which costs a dollar to replace, and I was insulted to find out that there was a designated bartender for sink or swim ONE LONE BARTENDER! Who in turn wound up moving slower than molasses. And after the old folks left, the line for the lone sink or swim line, wound up just shy of out the door (about 60-75 people long) i then refused to stand in that line and chose to give in to their scam and pay for their joke of a whiskey and coke from their other bartender, number 2 of 3. Which charged me 5 dollars for a coke with a tiny little splash of alcohol. I for one very very rarely drink. But i enjoy having a couple drinks and doing some line dances. I was extremely disappointed in this establishments execution of a "country bar" theme. In my honest opinion i dont see how they keep the doors open. I will never ever return. The round up and their awesome bartenders will continue to get my business and feel like home when i choose to get out and have some fun with friends and loved ones.

I was cut off after 8 drinks on ladies drink free night the owner of the bar even came up to me and compliment me on my hair and was jealous that my hair was longer than hers and when she reads this Google review she will know exactly who I am just to let you know Miss owner lady that the girl that worked last night with the cowboy hat cut me off after 8 drinks I was counting exactly how many drinks I had..bc it was drink free... but I dont appreciate how she had an attitude towards me and was disrespectful about it I will make sure I never come back to the trough and I will make sure that if anybody ever wants to go there I will offer to pay for their drinks to go somewhere else and have a great time. Then afterwards I tell the bartender that Im going to the write a Google review about this because this is completely outrageous... I have a security guard come up to me telling me that I dont need to write a Google review that my opinion does not matter really really? Google review to the fullest cowboy!

I am new to the line dancing, and I moved to St. Pete not too long ago, where I learned about this bar and the line dancing lessons, so I decided to give it a try. I must say that I TOTALLY LOVED IT!!!!! I have been going on tuesdays, since its the beginners class, and so far I have been learning a lot! But I wanted to say that the teacher takes a lot of credit because she is very patient and she goes through all the steps very carefully making sure we all get it. Its been a great experience and Im not planning on stop any time soon : )

Cool idea, but bad execution. Visited this place on a saturday night. The place was standing room only, which was pretty cool. The problem was the fact that they had two bartenders for the whole place. Stood in line for over 45 minutes on three separate occasions just to get a beer. This place needs either more bars, or some beer tubs. Something to ease the wait.

Worst dance hall ever-- and the thing is people actually line dance to 80s techno. They seem to be missing class and brains. Came here to two step. Im from Texas though, maybe Florida just doesnt have it. I believe you can walk in here and lose brain cells

Really great atmosphere. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Dance instructor was really good and knowledgeable. Very patient with class. Drink specials were good, could taste the alcohol. Overall, really nice place and will continue going back.

Dont recommend going here after the experience Ive had. Dallas bull has a better atmosphere, better bartenders, and a better security team that will actually do their jobs.
