Nice cource, VERY insulting staff. I have never played golf here before. The course layout was confusing at times (between the 3rd and 5th holes, especially). We had mistakenly skipped over a couple of holes, being informed by a couple of players of our error (they too had made this mistake when they first play this course due to it being poorly marked). After a couple of hours of play, we thought we were on the last hole. A staff member hurried out and yelled out our names, informing us that if we intended on playing another 9 holes, we had to pay for it first. I stared at this guy dumbfounded. I thought to myself: "we havent even finished the 9th hole. Why would he be accusing us of "stealing" another round." He then pointed out that we were on the 10th hole and that we had only paid for 9 holes. His tone was accusatory and condescending AND he acted this all out loudly in front of a dozen or so people waiting behind us. We felt publicly humiliated. The jerk could easily have come to us quietly and informed us of our error. Too say the least, we promptly left. I refuse to give my money to establishments that treat their customers this way. This guy should be fired. Im insuring I let others know of this incident. I wont return and my golfing friends have also scratched Topstone off their list.

I play this course twice a week almost every week from the time they open until they close for the season. I have always raved about Topstones condition to anyone that will listen. It rarely varies with the exception of when they aerate which even then seems to have minimal impact. For the money, you will not find a better or more consistently conditioned public course in the state of CT. This course drains extremely quickly from rain like no other course Ive ever seen. I have never seen a muddy condition anywhere on this course, even after torrential rains! Id give this course 6 stars if I could.

Good course, even though my ball seems to be a tree magnet, only complaint I have was the sarcastic smart a$$ course ranger, who needs to learn how to speak to people he doesnt know properly and politely, without the sarcasm. He pissed me off almost immediately and definitely messed the next couple holes up for me because I was all fired up and it took longer to get into a groove because of it. Besides that, everyone else seemed to be very polite and courteous, no other complaints.

Great place to play. The pro shop is one of the best in the area. Casey and his staff are always welcoming and very accommodating. Gary keeps the course in excellent shape all year round. Every year, this course becomes more challenging as it matures. The weekend Mens Club is the best around.

A beautifully maintained course with more sand traps than a star wars film. Carts are new and have plenty of zip. Beer cart was out and around often. Prices are a bit too high but they make up for some of it by offering a bar credit.

Love the course but I dont love having a ranger harassing me when the groups in front have caused us to play 5 holes in almost 2 hours....work on pace of play and not whether I was 15 or 20 yrds from the green.

Best public golf course in the area for the money. Only reason I dont five star it is they seem to have lots of events, making it hard to get on the course at times.

Great course, well maintained. Two large putting areas but no driving range. You can walk this course, not too hilly but it has a few severe up and down holes.
