First, I should say that after reading the previous reviews, I was really nervous about going to the Webster, but we had our tickets. The show was sold out.I was expecting to enter a really creepy neighborhood. It was not that at all. Dont get me wrong, as with all areas, you need to be vigilant. I didnt see any "unmentionables", but my main goal was to get inside the venue as quickly as possible. The main road leading to the venue was well lit with a lot of traffic. I turned on Crown St. to go to the parking lot for the Webster. There is a small sign on the corner that suggests you use their parking lot if space allows. The implication is that A. its safer, and B. there is a lot of permit only parking in the area. Of course the lot was full, so I had to go around the block. These side streets were very dark, but they were lined with parked cars. I chose to park at St Augustines church which was mentioned on the Websters site as overflow parking. It is a couple of blocks to walk, but the street was well lit. It is located at a major intersection. You are searched and lightly frisked upon arrival. From an interior design standpoint, this venue has probably seen better days, but it certainly serves the purpose now of the clients it attracts: kids, college students who just want to watch live music. Its dark, but not creepy dark. The inside is huge, general admission only. So if youre claustrophobic and under the age of 21, it might be difficult. There are two tiers. The lower tier is much more cramped. I stood back in the middle tier area to have breathing room and I was fine. There is a bar area. I did not go into it, but it might be another place to go if youre over 21 and claustrophobic. There is plenty of security within the venue - their presence was made known. A few items were thrown onto the stage (lovingly) and the band called out security for not catching it. When we were walking out, there were police cars in the area which also made me feel better. I got the feeling that management knows people need to feel safe in order to come out.It is an intimate venue, not much to look at. But if your kind of band is playing there, its a great place to see them. Downside, Parking stinks. If you live along the Merritt Pkwy/Wilbur Cross Pkwy it was incredibly easy to travel to. Rt 15 all the way to the front door.I would go to the Webster again although I would rather park in their parking lot (which was $10, btw).

(05/15/2013) Its an amazing place for concerts Ive been to three Rock Concerts and a Foam Party/Rave and had a blast each time I went!. The neighborhood IS NOT BAD!!!! People who arnt from Hartford doesnt know what their talking about I live 2 blocks away on Broad St. And even when theres no concert do I hear of violence in the area PLUS there is always a Police officer stationed at the venue just in case. I never had the food there so I can speak on that but the alcohol Drinks Im sure where they make their money lol. its pretty expensive for some jagerBombs or long island ice tees but hey its for a even better time so I cant complain!. The place was relativly clean when iv been there and the main stage holds A LOT of people which is good. One thing I dont like is the fact that they have signs that say "NO: moshing, crowd surfing and something else but when in reality they DONT CARE if you do those things yet they scare people with those signs!. But yeah over all I Love the venue its close to my house and some Big names pass thru there and they give a chance for some Local bands as well in the second smaller stage I believe called the Webster Underground. So yeah. Go to it!...

Webster always have good shows...the sound is average for a venue, and they have lights and a capacity of about 1000. The one big downside is they are in a really crappy part of town. My friends car got stolen at a show, another ones car got broken into. I once played there and a homeless lady demanded she carry my guitar into the venue. I was very hesitant, but luckily she didnt steal it. I offered her a dollar, and she snatched it out of my hand. They also frisk you and go through a metal detector for every show...which Is a small annoyance. Bottom line...good venue with good shows in a bad location.

Webster theater The venue… A heavy metal concert featuring 5 acts… Not the most luxurious place Ive ever been and for this event it was strictly general admission with standing room only… Security was good as they made sure no weapons were brought in which was a big plus and although the mosh pit seemed a bit un-ruly the crown was actually quite polite as people said excuse me when bumping into you. Id venture to say I was probably among the older minority in the crowd but a good time was had… Id go to another event here should the occasion arise…

I have been to the webster a bunch of times. I love it. They get really popular bands to play here but also are a good venue for small local bands. The place is pretty big but also intimate. I saw Mudvayne and KMFDM here and its so cool how close you are to the stage. Ive been to tons of concerts all over the country and this is my fav place. The Ct crowd sucks though... yall are boring. Everyone acts like they are too good for the webster but I think the webster is too good for this crappy city full of ingrates.

There will anyways be a soft spot in my heart for Webster Underground, however this venue has some major flaws-- AC is DRASTICALLY insufficient for warm summer weather. I recently saw a show where all 4 acts playing that night repeatedly complained about the heat... Yeah, not a good look, Webster. Worse, the bar area is separated from the stage front by a wood and plexiglass partition, making it just about impossible to watch your show while struggling to enjoy a cooling beverage.

I Recently Took my Teenagers To See Hale-storm The Band Was excellent A complete rock show They definitely are living proof Rock n Roll is here to stay from the first song to the ballads to The Drum solos to the Encore The webster itself not that good for teenagers no ventilation general admission with a no return policy no parking hard to believe they have no ongoing lawsuits I suggest they buy the old agora ballroom much better place

Not a fan of this venue. Idiot security guards and bad sound = no thank you! Also many car break-ins happen outside of the fenced parking lot. The neighborhood is really bad immediately surrounding this place. Avoid this venue, check out Toads Place in New Haven instead.

We flew out here twice to see Fates Warning and Arch/Matheos. Cool venue. Only thing I dont like is that I cant smoke and have my drink at the same time. Oh, and the neighborhood is a little shady.

Whats the point of having a parking lot when you dont use it never going back, park on the street in a bad looking neighborhood, they have rules that arent even enforced, audio wasnt that great
