It is hard to believe that it will be almost a month since our wedding celebration at the Riverview. My husband and I took time in making sure we picked the right spot for our wedding ceremony and reception. As we explained to Tina the manager during our first meeting, this was a second wedding for the two of us and we were looking for a venue that would help us create a very unique event without compromising the details that are important in making a wedding reception a success. The challenge in the planning was that I was living in NYC full time and in CT only for the weekends. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff from the get go. Tina assigned us Alison as our wedding coordinator and she was terrific from the start. She was diligent in corresponding with us via telephone and email. As we met in person to plan out the small details and our menu, I was amazed at how accommodating The Riverview was. This was not a simple task since our wedding guest list was comprised of a diverse group of family and friends. Many vegetarians, people with gluten allergies, foodies with high food expectations and the folks who just like the good old fashion meat and potatoes kind menu. Ali assured me that there would be plenty of food during the cocktail hour and that the food in our stations would be plenty, hot and flavorful. I also wanted to ensure that there would be enough wait staff to accommodate the needs of the 125 guest we had attending. During the course of the planning, I was able to brainstorm on additional details on a new design for our cake, the set up of the ceremony space and other details and Alison was open to the new ideas and did not flinch at my many requests for implementing them. The Riverview and Alison brought our wedding vision to fruition. They executed every detail flawlessly and made us feel comfortable and at ease on our day that everything was going right on track. It is close to one month after our wedding…I am still hearing how spectacular the food was from all of our family and friends that attended, including all my NYC friends who sometimes could be very discerning when it comes to food at social functions. People keep raving about the mash potato station, the beautiful cake, the service from all the staff…I loved the fact that I had a waitress assigned to me for the day and she was at my side to ensure I had food and drinks any time during my special day. There is no way to properly review this venue and be brief. Over all, suffice it to say that I feel this is “THE PLACE” for any type of social function. I checked our other wedding venues, caterers and I am so happy I followed my instincts. Lastly, Katy the office manager was superb as well. On the two occasions that I called as a “frantic” bride she was professional, sweet, calming and very helpful. I commend the management of The Riverview for having all of their team be dedicated to the satisfaction of their clients and outstanding customer service.

My wife and I landed at this venue after much research, and also due to a strong recommendation from a mutual friend. There is no doubt that The Riverview is a beautiful venue, which is one of the main reason why we decided to host our reception there, however, I feel that their main and only selling point is the venue itself, which is quite disappointing. SERVICE or lack thereof: During our first visit to the venue we met with a Manager named Maureen, who was very pleasant, and who provided us all the financial information that we were looking for. After we decided to book the venue, we were appointed a “Wedding Coordinator” named Alyson, whom was supposed to help us answer any questions that we may have and to assist us during the wedding itself. From the moment we met with her, it was clear that to her, her job was just a job. She seemed detached and perhaps bothered every time we brought anything to her attention. On the wedding day itself she was of little help, and her approach was as if she was doing us a favor. A few of our guests also brought to our attention that Alyson was very short and uninformative with them. Her job was also to guide us through different stages of the wedding, and to help us with time management. I however, never felt so lost and disorganized in my life as I was at our wedding. If money is not a factor, do yourself a favor and hire a professional wedding coordinator for your wedding. The last thing you want to do is to play the role of coordinator at your own wedding. Ridiculous. Talking about ridiculous, there were two incidents that were very disappointing. First, one of the wedding assistants (Male) made a very rude and uncalled for comment regarding the appearance of one of our guests, to the point were she was in tears. Second, before the wedding started another assistant by the name of Andrew approached me and my groom’s men and kept offering refreshments yet would disappear just to come back 5 minutes later to offer refreshments and disappear again. I am not sure if he had a very short term memory but we came through with anything we asked for. FOOD: The apps during cocktail hour were great. Dinner however was a different story. The food was bland and the fish was frozen. Do not get Beef (Filet Mignon ). One of our guests has been to many weddings there and warned me about the Filet, yet we didn’t listen. It is bland and the quality is poor at best. It is a shame that such a nice place is poorly managed and that they employ rude/incompetent people. I wouldn’t recommend

I was a wedding guest on 8/9/2014 (Hankard wedding). Not only is the venue gorgeous, exceptionally clean and well kempt, but the staff is also well trained, courteous and genuinely pleasant. I have a food intolerance and the night of the wedding when pasta was served as a second course, I politely declined so another guest could enjoy the dish and mine not go to waste. The server was a young lady who promptly asked what I had ordered for dinner so they could accomodate my needs. I was very impressed and profusely thanked her. Most times at weddings Ill simply eat what I can as not to be a burden on the couple. Once guests began to receive slices of the wedding cake, the same server came up to me with a (delicious!) gluten free cupcake. The brother of the groom also has a gluten intolerance so I understand the kitchen was probably prepared with options ahead of time. Regardless, I was thoroughly impressed with the service of this young lady and her kindness. She simply could have shrugged it off, but instead she made my dining experience at this wedding very enjoyable without adding to the stress of the newlywed couple.

After seeing the facility when it first opened, and speaking with Maureen, we were very excited to have our wedding here. Maureen and Wendy were so nice and realistic that we were sure everything would go great and that we made the right choice of facility. Our wedding night was less than satisfactory. The appetizers were not warm, the dinner food was inedible (probably why you dont receive a taste-test before hand), it was approximately 80 degrees in the facility the entire night, the dessert buffet was small and dissapointing, and the staff was young and untrained (some were rude). The bartenders were very generous, and our guests certainly were not thirsty, but that is the only positive I can state. Id go out of my way to tell people about this experience so it doesnt happen to anyone else. The Riverview staff is not concerned, at all, that our guests were hungry and that my wedding was poor. Im sure that the nice people you meet at the beginning are there just as bait...once youve signed the contract, its all over!
