I would like to start this off by saying that I have worked in several museums in guest relations, customer service, and docent positions. I love museums, and have visited them all over the world. I have never seen or heard of the kind of treatment we received when we attempted to visit this museum. I had heard about Rosemount from another docent at a museum I used to work at and had been wanting to visit. Since it was a two hour drive from where I live I waited over a year before finally planning the trip down on my birthday. I checked the website to make sure they would be open, and brought the flyer my friend had given me. All said the last tour left at 3:30pm, pretty standard. Since it was such a long drive down, I thought to call ahead to ensure that they were indeed open. The person who answered explained that they had a car show outside, which meant half price tours without guides, but that docents would be in each room to answer questions. It sounded great! So we made our way down and arrived a little before 2:30pm with plenty of time to see the museum. To our utter shock it was closed, but we could see people inside. We immediately called and were told that they closed early due to the special event (something that we were not informed of when we called ahead!). We explained that we had called ahead and made a long drive just to see the museum. The person on the other end just kept saying “There is nothing I can do. I don’t know who you talked to.” So we asked to talk to a supervisor, which she refused. We then asked what her position was, and she hung up on us!!!! Unbelievable! People visit from out of town, and come from far away to visit these historic places. If we do everything in our power to get the correct information and the staff make a mistake, the least they could do is apologize! I would caution strongly against visiting this museum, as there is no way to ensure that whatever information you get regarding their operations is correct, and the staff, or at least the person we talked to, are extremely rude!

Rosemount Museum in Pueblo, CO was a fabulous adventure for my wife and I. We both love all things Victorian, and this house had it all! The multiple rooms, each decked in their own exotic wood were perfectly preserved, and a beauty for the eye to behold. Among the more memorable items in the house besides the tremendous woodwork and architecture was the intercom system that connected each room of the house with the kitchen. No electricity was used to keep the connections open, they were a series of pipes and caps. To talk to a specific room of the house, open the cap and speak into the horn. Your voice was carried through the piping to the room you had selected. The mixture of gas and electric lighting in the house was intriguing also. Its hard to imagine a time when electricity was only available a few hours a day, and you had to decide whether to use gas lighting or electric. The staff on hand was quite knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. I highly recommend this stop in Pueblo to anyone who is a fan of extensively detailed woodwork and Victorian homes.

The volunteers know so much history, and are very fun to talk to. I cant believe Im from Pueblo and after 30 years, I finally made it to the museum. Absolutely stunning, rich history, A MUMMY for Egypt! And if youre from southern Colorado, Pueblo especially, the history of the family is fascinating and relatable one. Sense considering they were a huge contribution in making Pueblo the city it has become. I will definitely be back around Christmas to see the one of a kind decor.

Im sorry to say it, but I did not enjoy our visit. My husband is basically deaf and could not hear the tour guide. We were kept under a tight leash; any questions, conversations, jokes, observations etc., were discouraged. You could not even linger to read the material posted by an exhibit. Why do they even have it there? Who gets to take the time to read it? The tour guide was rude to me and my sweet husband. I am upset with the way he was treated. Its not okay.

Love this home! The people of Pueblo have worked very hard in keeping this home intact. The 90% of the furnishings are original. Take a step back in time - and seriously - I want that stove. Lovely
