After reading reviews on Yelp about some problems with the condition of the course, I called ahead to ensure that it was worth playing here. I am very disappointed in the exuberant "yes, the course is in great shape!" response that I was given. As of 8/26/2013, the greens are in terrible shape for a course that aspires to host an NCAA Championship. Lets hope the flood didnt bring them more problems. Ive consistently heard people complain about the course overbooking tee times and cramming too many people onto it and this was definitely an issue for every round I have played here. In my last round, the front nine played smoothly, but then the back nine took 3+ hours after they stuffed a bunch of extra groups on the 10th tee. If you charge $80 for a round, that better pay the salary of a marshal that knows how to do the job. There was no marshal on the course all day. The layout is interesting. If the course was in decent shape, at all, I would have given it 4 stars. 5 isnt out of the question if its in exceptional shape. Dont be a coward - get out your driver and take a run at driving the 17th. The par 3s all play long and two of the par 5s are just not reachable (unless youre playing from the wrong tees). The course will make you use every club in the bag. Colorado National is the antithesis of Coal Creek. Theres tons of room to blast driver off of the tee and hitting it long is a definite advantage. I look forward to the course conditions improving and it being in truly good shape. Once its greened up, it will be worth the big prices they want to charge. Also, if youre looking for a good discount, I encountered many problems in booking a tee time through Golfnow. The attendant in the clubhouse tried to re-charge me for the time that was already purchased through Golfnow.

I hesitated to write this review because I do not want the secret getting out, but this is the best golf course in the entire Denver area for many reasons. First and foremost, the course is top notch. Plays to 75.5 from the tips, but there are about 5 sets of tees for all levels. Always extremely well maintained in all aspects. Any condition issues others noted are all resolved as of Summer 2014. Great views on many holes, especially the home stretch on the back nine. Generous fairways for the most part and a true second shot golf course. No slow play problems in my experience. Secondly, the value. You can play this course for a very reasonable price at the right time of day, and that price includes a cart with GPS. You will get exact yardages to that days pin location, front of green, back of green, and all other landmarks on every yard of the hole. Just tap the screen and it will give you an exact yardage. Finally, the staff, members, and general feel. The staff are as helpful as anyone could want. The grounds have the feel of an exclusive club, but the attitude is very relaxed, friendly, and welcoming. Very down to earth and not snobby in any way. Oh, and every member I have had the pleasure of playing with was not only very friendly, but also some damn good players. You will not be disappointed if you come here, and youll probably be back many times.

Im really disappointed that you chose Extraction Oil and Gas to sponsor your 3rd of July celebration . Are you aware of their planned 40 well pad that will cause an incredible amount of safety/health and nuisance problems for the residents of Vista Ridge? Are you aware of the 100 wells that are being imposed on your neighbor, Anthems Ranch? More importantly, are you aware that hundreds of people have been filing complaints because theyre feeling sick, losing sleep and not experiencing enjoyment in their own homes because of the fumes spewing out of of the Crestone Peak Resources drill site? If youre desperate enough to ask or accept Extractions donation, that probably means youre hurting financially. I know a dozen people personally who say they wont golf at your facility because its simply not pleasing to have to look at the WC monstrosity and they dont want to pay money to smell fumes that are most likely harming them. Adding Extraction O&G as a sponsor was a slap in the face to all those who support you. Like · Reply · Just now

Beautiful Course, well maintained. The people who work there act as if they work at Pebble Beach instead of a standard course in Erie, Colorado. I have never seen a congregation of such snobs in my life. The first question on the application must be "Are you an A-hole?" If yes... You begin work tomorrow at 6am.Way overpriced if you want to walk... 40 bucks to walk 9 holes!!!! Also, took lessons there about two years ago. The "head pro" was probably the worst teacher I have ever been around. The guy would literally hit his own bucket of balls during my lessons. Teaching was so bad I left with lessons still remaining...glad to never take another lesson there. Will not be returning. Sad that a wonderful University attaches their name to this place.

This is a high priced public course with a attitude and class problem. The cart GPS systems plays commercials no really not snake bar or lunch commercials but whos your plume commrrcial. Not just one or two but all the time we ended up turning it off. The members think thier sh- dont stink . We were practice putting and one guy started chipping at the hole we were putting on with no one else on the green. Said he was a member and in a hurry. Someone needs to tell this course it is a public couse just like a hundred other couse in th e metro area. Nothing special nothing unique just a golf course. Just overpriced attitudes.

Just played today Aug 1st 2015. The greens here are without doubt the worst I have ever been on. By this I mean there is almost as much dirt as grass on the putting surface. They are not only missing grass( a key element to greens) they extremely bumpy. I have putted on greens a few days after they have been punched and sanded that were much better than these. The course layout is great and it used to be a very nice course. The views are amazing! Hopefully someone new takes over the course and brings it back to what it should be. For now I suggest playing anywhere but here.

Awful place. Treated rude from the moment we arrived. I usually dont write bad reviews but the place was exceptional in their awfulness. Continually told to hurry up. To the point of being followed by a ranger. I play golf weekly and this course by far has the worst staff attitude. Its a sad fact because the course itself is beautiful and very fun and challenging to play. Skip this place. Its not worth the stress given to you by the annoying and pretentious employees. Cart girls were the coolest, as usual.

I played Colo Natl for the first time on Sat 6/18. The course was very busy, seemingly with many father/son combos, which was the case for me. It couldnt have been a better experience! The staff I had contact with were all very friendly and helpful and the course was in great shape. We played 18 with another father/son twosome that we were paired with. For such a busy day, pace of play was great...a 4.5 hr round. I will definitely plan on playing the course again.
