Bouncer TRICKS people under 21 into paying full price by saying entrance is FREE before 10 PM. When I asked about price, all the bouncer said was $5 for people 21+, and $10 for people under 21, and free before 10 PM. The bouncer saw my friends ID (under 21), and he did not tell him he actually had to pay full price. He told me I could get entrance for free if I made it before 10 PM. So then I ran, and made it. I showed him my ID, he put those xs on my hands. I went down the stairs, and the cashier woman shows me 10 on her fingers. I tell her I made it before 10 PM, she tells me that I have to pay full price because Im under 21. I go up the stairs back to the bouncer asking why he didnt tell me its still $10. He said some BS that its the cashiers job. Wtf. So I kind of let him loose, forgive him, for the moment. I suggest to the woman the bouncer should be clearer about this. I give her my money, she barks off that I dont have to pay if I dont want to. I tell her Im going here only once just to see what its like, then Im going to find a place and roommates to host my own parties everyday so I dont support these deceitful businesses. (Note: Club Vinyl bouncers trick people under 21 by saying admission is $5, then when they actually get past the long line, it turns out its $20 for them. Ive also been ripped off and disrespected by Beta Nightclub, no better. Support small businesses, oh wait, there are no small clubs in Denver, its a monopoly. Host, promote, and attend house parties) So, she actually hands back my money and says they dont have to admit me. I see the bouncer kind of creeped up over me and threatens that they can kick me out if they want. The woman asks me if I want to enter, Im like yes and hand my money to her. She says "have a good night" in a sarcastic manner, I get in. The place opens at 9 PM, it had under 10 people until 11 PM. There was barely anyone to talk to, I actually passed some time by texting my friends on my phone. Place wasnt impressive at all, quite plain as a matter of fact. No great visual effects, only two small dancefloors. Upstairs was shutdown, as shown by the upside down trashcans lining the stairs. My friend who got in first left within twenty minutes, said the music is weird and he wants to go home, imagine that after paying $10! 11 PM came, and there was still barely anyone there. A little later, more people did come. I made a bunch of friends, saw the same people constantly throughout the night though. No "losing your friends" in this nightclub, not that many people to choose from. Sinks were idiotically designed, you had to hold a button down with one hand while you sprayed water on the other. There was urine on the floor near the urinals and nobody bothered to clean it up. The music sucked the whole night just like when my friend was there. I saw that about half of people hanged out outside, whats this club for anyway? I had a great night, because I had fun talking to people outside of the club. This is coming from a big music fan. Both rooms music sucked the whole night. A lot of people who I talked to have never been at this club before, or they last went a year ago or so. Apparently this club can continue to thrive even if nobody likes it, because there is constantly people trying it for the first time or trying it again after a while of not going. Population of Denver vs number of clubs in Denver (especially 18+ ones, about 4 I think), simple statistics. What if you want to have fun? Attend house parties, alcohol isnt marked up, no entry fee besides maybe your own contribution. You know where your money is going, if you support Vinyl or the Church, its going to California to a rich man who apparently cant pay a little more for more respectful staff. Beta, same deal with another jerk. Reminds me of Rockefeller and Vanderbilt from US history, same crap different generation. If you want to feel proud of yourself, dont support these jerks.

My two friends, one female one male, and I went here last night. Saturday nights for the month of February is "La Noche en La Catedral – 3 floors with the best Latin music" so at first we were a bit worried that we wouldnt fit in or find a good song to dance to, but The Church was open and so we went in. It has an amazing architecture to start with, many bars (at least 9) and a lot of dance space. The music was still a pretty good range of genre so it was very easy to find a beat to dance to. My female friend tried the sushi bar and thought it was pretty good and the bartender put up with me and my male friend being somewhat unfamiliar with most drinks with a good attitude. It got really really packed. But even then people were generally good. Some slight shoving to move around but that is to be expected. A guy that danced with my female friend left without a hassle when she told him she was done dancing with him. So the people were great. Good night out.

Maj is a very distinct hole-in-the-wall type of bar. Its fun, eclectic (aka weird in the best way) and different every night. When you walk up it looks like a blue shed with a couple of bouncers. It use to be free before midnight but now its supposedly free before 11:30 and $10 after. The price change mysteriously occurred when a new bouncer showed up. After you get in, you may be weirder out a little as you walk down a dark passage covered in graffiti. But then all of the sudden youre in a great bar with some of the best music. There are two rooms with separate Djs playing different genres. The bar is a cash bar but there is an ATM. Drinks are cheap between $5-$9. It usually doesnt get crowded till after 12:30. It is definitely one of my fave spots minus the new cover.

Went on a Friday. There were 3 dance floors playing different musical and a lounge area where the bar tender, Travis, was very nice and engaging. All-in-all not bad. One exception, I casually and *accidentally* grazed a bouncers ass while dancing when he stepped in front of me. No big deal, Im not in the habit of molesting bouncers, but he got up in my face about it. You work at a club where people dance, get over it. If your only power trip in life is threatening to throw someone out, probably need to re-assess.

Great for a quiet Goth theme night in the basement on Sunday nights. Same bartender on Sunday nights here is also at the club down the street called Milk. Hes awesome. Cheap drinks, great music. Went here for steampunk night a fee years back and loved the upstairs. Fun fact, while this building was once an actual church quite a long time ago, this building was also featured in a thriller flick during the late 90s/early 00s. That movie was called Strangeland. You should totes check it out.
