We love Civic Center Park. Since Denver is such a young city in relation to places like New England, there is not as much of the historic architecture to look at. Civic Center Park makes up for that with its two Amphitheater areas. CCP is also a cultural hub when it comes to rallies and marches. It is located directly between the state and city capitol buildings making it a *must* visit when you are downtown. While you are down there check out the citys newly remodeled McNichols Building that has been revived to be used for all kinds of civic and social gatherings. THe only thing I will point out is that the park is heavily used by Denvers homeless population. Be prepared to be hollered at or find yourself involved in strange interactions. If it worries you, bring a friend.

Three stars as a park; Civic Center Park is more known as the site of every major cultural event from Cinco de Mayo to Gay Pride to protests to activism than it is as a traditional park. Facing the Colorado State Capitol on the east and the Denver City and County building on the west, with the downtown skyline to the north, the location had historical, political and cultural significance. With a stop by to anyone visiting Denver. Due to heavy for traffic and a constant homeless encampment, probably not the best choice for a weekend picnic on the grass. Go to the free your of the Capitol after.

I have been to Civic Center Park many times, and enjoy it thoroughly each time, but last Sunday I went to West words tacolandia event. This is a several-hour event in which you pay a fee to get in and then you have free samples of tacos from many many vendors I think there were possibly 40 or 50 vendors there. The quality was uneven but overall it was a great time. Unfortunately several of the taco vendors ran out of samples quickly so the number was cut down substantially before too long into the event. All in all a good time though.

One of my favorite places to just go hangout in the Spring and Summer time, to walk around, lay in the perfectly green grass, or people watch. Yes there are some homeless people but there are way less then there used to be 3-4 years ago. They dont bother me, they mind their own business. The firework show is very neat and its fun checking out the fairs and festivals they hold at the park throughout the year. Overall its a beautiful park year around, sun or snow. I have many cherished memories in this park.

Stay away from this area. Used to be a nice place at one time, but since voters legalized pot violent bums have infested it. Went downtown for Veterans day parade had to carry my pistol for protection. Even tho police presence has been increased since the last assaults on clean and sober folks on the 16th Street Mall awhile back. Still I would advise packing heat to protect yourself from the pot smoking homeless there as they are violent. You have been forewarned.

A wonderful eclectic park in the middle of downtown Denver. Various almost random architecture and beautiful flower beds. Home to odd squirrels that may or may not be under the influence. Great views and in walking distance to the Colorado State Capitol, the Denver County Court and the Denver Art Museum. Like the rest of downtown Denver there are lots of young seeming well off drug addicts / homeless here. This is a phenomenon quite unique to Denver.

Its actually not a bad park, it just happens to be crowded most of the time. When I go to a park Im trying to get away from people and things, not closer. Just a personal preference. As for the park itself well, theres public art, statues, gardens, columns and great views of both the City/County building and the state capitol building, as well as Denvers skyline. During the summer months Denver hosts a variety of events at this park.

Lovely park but there are definitely some sketchy characters hanging around here. The police were around so I didnt feel unsafe. There was some sort of soup kitchen set up, passing out food to the homeless people. Once when we passed through here, we were going to use the port a potties but they were overflowing with filth. Ive been afraid to check them again but on a recent visit they were being serviced so that was a relief to see.

There is usually a craft fair or a gathering here on the weekends in the spring and summer. Including the taste of colorado labor day weekend. Great place to walk around and see some of denvers city and federal buildings. The Capitol, the federal mint, both court houses, and lots of sculptures and beautiful marbled architecture. Unfortunately denvers homeless do frequent this park as its not far from one of the rescue missions.

Its a beautiful area with a lot of potential. However, due to Denvers struggle to deal with the housing/homelessness crisis, Civic Center Park appears to have become a spot of involuntary protest against this public inaction. So, be aware of this and take it with a grain of salt when visiting. Otherwise, there is beautiful architecture and history to observe in this area and it is a must see for visitors!

We went to a festival around the Civic Center and it was a ton of fun! After the festival we walked through the Civic Center and it was absolutely beautiful. Being a Peyton Manning fan, it was nice to take pictures of myself standing next to pictures that highlight his career. It was a very special experience that I would recommend to everyone! Beautiful architecture, very clean and very picturesque.

Civic Center is a historic and pretty park. The city tries to keep it clean but there are many homeless people and drug use is sometimes obvious. That said, for special events when police presence is higher than usual it can be a wonderful place to watch a concert, view fireworks or the lighting of the City and County building at Christmas, or attending one of fairs that takes up the space.

Really beautiful central park near the state capital. Hosts a ton of events in the heart of the city. Like any park in a major city, there are of course some homeless people minding their own business and also enjoying a public space. Denvers Civic Center Park is a great addition to already stellar city. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy.

Its a park ;). Located just south of Colfax and west of Broadway its a popular lunchtime destination for people who work downtown and is the site of numerous events in the summertime. Recent renovations have greatly improved the scenery. If all you remember is Civic Center from 5 years ago youll be amazed at what it looks like today.

Lots of events happen here, from a string of food trucks lined up for lunch hour, to 4th of July fireworks, to Christmas lights in the winter, to the Taste of Colorado. The architecture is pretty and the park is best enjoyed moving on foot. Hanging out may be less desirable as there seems to be a constant homeless presence.

Um basically a giant place for people to lie down and OD. Plenty of cops but still a filthy place. I wouldnt walk barefoot in the grass due to the uncontrolled release of various bodily fluids and the potential for needle sticks. Some people bring kids, I wouldnt. Who wants to explain to a little kid what a junkie is?
