First off, this place can get busy, but its L.A. so what public places arent busy? They do a good job of providing parking so its not too difficult to find a parking spot, but it can sometimes be a challenge. We rented a pedal boat while we there to putt around the little lake they have and it was a lot of fun. They also offer bike rentals, but we didnt take advantage of those although the bike trails looked very nice. We let the kids play at the playground and they enjoyed it. Even though there were a lot of kids there, it didnt feel overcrowded, just busy. They had a good time. There are also plenty of trees for shade which is nice on a hot summer day and plenty of benches for sitting throughout the park. Overall, this is a great place to visit for some outdoor fun

This is a very good and comfortable area. You can drive here, come by bike where you can go around the whole place following the bike path, plenty of places to park. There are several areas you can call ahead and reserve for birthday parties or groups. There are areas with BBQ grills around where you can make your carne asada and any other yummy treats for your time spending there with friends. There are pedal boats that you can rent for a few dollars for half hour and an hour as well but usually half hour is more than plenty. There is fishing available too but I never been able to catch anything there. Its very worth it visiting and enjoying the time there i highly recommend it

This is literally THE MOST DISGUSTING LAKE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!! How do people work here and be okay with this??? The park is nice but the lake is desiese central Im officially traumatized by how sick the water looked and smelled.. literally disguising. If you are brave enough to step into there paddle boats you will get to see dozens(not exaggerating) of dead fish floating at the top of the water. This has to be the most contaminated water I have ever seen. STAY AWAY. The city of Los Angeles should be ashamed for letting the animals suffer like this. My advice? Stay away from this junkyard!

just wanted to give some info on reserving the pavilions. they are a great spot to have a party but it does require work. you need to rent them 30 days in advance and have to go down to their office to pay. you dont have to rent but then you have to get there early to snag one. We had the problem of people being in our reserved space when we got there and had to call the lifeguards to have them leave. It was kind of a nightmare because the people were obviously mad and took forever to pack up leaving us barely any time to set up. Just something to know before you reserve!

I just love this park! Its packed on the weekends, but other than that i love riding bikes there, the paved road is fantastic, and the rental place is nice too. The lake is nice! Love sitting on the grass or on the designated benches to enjoy the view. You will see different birds walking around anf swimming in the lake. If u walk around you will find beautiful big trees the waterfall, and a little creek. You can fish, bbq, play sports, relax, walk, run, roller blade, read a book, and much more! Lake Balboa park is the whole package!

One thing I like about it (aside the other dozens of things that made me decide to give it 5 stars for) is that the lake is exactly one mile around, with a beautifully scenic path... I first started by walking around the lake path few times a week, and as my stamina increased, I was jogging at my own pace in no time, then (also getting the strength to jog faster and faster), I began to add one or two extra laps around every week or so... Well, before I knew it, jogging turned into running- which led to my first official marathon!

I frequently walk our dogs around the lake and on the dirt trails along the perimeter of the park. I enjoy the variety of people who share this space - you hear languages from around the globe, and see infants riding in strollers to older people hobbling with walkers. The weekends host bbqs, weddings, religious gatherings, organized running events and exercise groups. The park is well maintained and is peaceful gathering place for our entire community.

Gabe is awesome. This place is the best cocktail bar in DFW. When I want to hide out and not deal with all the pretentiousness of Dallas, Deep Ellum is always my hiding spot. The patio is chill, the drinks are more than industry exceptional, and yeah parking might be quirky bc you are in DE, but it is so worth a cruise over. Especially during the week. And it is walking distance from the future husbands dining establishment. Makes me happy.

A neighbor recommended Balboa Park for me as an alternative place to take my dog walking. Although its not an off the lead walk, its a lovely nature walk through to the park and then around the lake itself. Lots of trees, very family friendly and safe, with BBQ areas. Will have to go back for a picnic sometime. We did 2 laps of the lake - approx 30 mins. Definitely going back.

This park is gigantic! There are multiple themed playgrounds in the park and lots of accessible water fountains and restrooms. On most weekends, youll find 15 or 20 different family picnics with bbqs and balloons. The park has paddle boats and group bicycles to rent. BEWARE of parking. The lots are limited, but most people park along the narrow streets within the park.

One of the biggest and nicest parks here in LA. I always came here as a kid, and enjoyed riding my bike along the designated path all day long. They do rent 4-seater pedal vehicles, bikes, and pedaled watercraft for going out onto the lake, or pond as they call it. Theres also a soccer field, golf course, and skate park nearby. Awesome park.

Great place to go for a family picnic or just for a family together. The park gets crowded, obvious there are no big parks around the area so it is the only alternative. You can have boat rides in the lake, walk your dog around the park and well have a jog around. Perfect to kill time.
