The Museum is both a museum and a cultural center of the Chumash. Besides the tours of this Native Chumash site, there are terrific displays and actual Chumash artifacts in the main building. The Museum also promotes Chumash culture and Chumash art through various events during the year. If you want to learn about the tribe with the largest land area in the state of California of native people and their rich history you have to visit.

The new exhibits are fabulous and so life-like. The family setting near the Tomol is such a wonderful reproduction of the lifestyle of the Coastal Chumash. The events there are such a wonderful family venue and the kids just love it! The school tours are so popular they are consistently booked. Really a good place to hike also.

Went here for a anthropology class field trip years ago. The man running the museum that day gave us a tour of a sacred area. Was an honor to be apart of. While he was touring us around, a massive snake showed itself going up between some boulders. That was a good day. I thank the museum for a wonderful experience.

I saw a big rattlesnake right here! After starting down the trail here, and riding in about a mile, I had to cross a dry stream bed to join up with the main trail (Lang Ranch Fire Road) its a tough climb to the top (China Flats) but the views are impressive and the ride back down is much quicker!

This Museum has really come a long way in the last two years or so. The interior exhibits have been expanded, the outside exhibits (full-size Chumash village) are magnificent, and the guided hikes through the 432 acres cannot be missed. The gift shop is also a worthwhile stop.

The Chumash Center is a stunning tribute to a once great civilization that thrived in Southern California. It is filled with amazing artifacts, art and other indigenous historical pieces. I love this place.

Beautiful place to wander. I was here for work so didnt get to see the land in its entirety, but there was lots of nature that I did see including a rattlesnake... not bothering anyone.

I have been to the Chumash Museum on Sunday and I really enjoyed it. I even made a YouTube video by their hut. It was really exiting!
