The rudest service Ive experienced in a long time. We walked in from the back parking lot. As you enter the beer garden there is a sign right at the gate saying see the hostess for seating . Farther in we came to a sign that said we were entering a self seating area. We sat down and talked about what we wanted to eat. No less than 4 servers were walking around us none of whom would even acknowledge our presence. I recalled the self seating sign saying to order at the bar but we noticed that the servers were taking orders. Finally my wife spoke directly to one of the three servers within 4 feet of us," Excuse me?" Repeated half a dozen times without a single server acknowledging. So I went inside to ask why were being ignored. "Oh, you were supposed to come and speak to me" By this time I was beyond talking about it. What ever happened to simple human communication? "Oh,Im sorry did you talk to the hostess". "Oh, Im sorry, this isnt self seating". Or, "Oh Im sorry, Ive been told to completely ignore you". Just freaking SAY something. I will never go back or recommend it to anyone. Whatever misunderstanding derstanding led to the situation does not excuse that treatment.

This venue has been through so many incarnations over the last two decades. Finally, this one seems to have it right. The food is definitely passable, in some cases quite good. The house-made beer is tasty, but its the MANY other fine brews on tap that make this place shine. You must try "The Dutchess" for a unique and luscious taste experience. Enjoy is outside; theyve even installed a clear plastic tent to cover the entire outdoor seating area. Too hot on a winters sunny day, but great in the rain! Now lets talk about the music. While I dont claim to know all of the acts that come through, I am almost certainly guaranteed to enjoy it. Even the local open mic is OK! Downside: wanna-be cops who handle their security. They suck, but Ive never seen them become a buzz crunch.

what did i like about it? Nothing. We showed up today. Open tables all over. Sign said ask the host - she said there was a ten minute wait. Walked outside and my family had sat down at an empty table. Talked to the server she said we were fine and she would take care of us. A few minutes later the host came back and rudely asked us to move as the table was reserved. Insinuating that we were out of line for sitting at an empty table. There were reserved signs on other tables but not this one. We had already waited for 15 minutes. Waited another ten and left. Wont be back - there are to many other great options to waste any more time with this place.

Go for the atmosphere and the beer, but dont go for the food. Weve been here a number of times, and sometimes the food is good, as far as bar food goes. Other times its been really disappointing. Like having a Rueben sandwich with all the meat on one side, so that I had to rearrange the meat to have a uniform sandwich. (No Im not a perfectionist, a 60/40 split mightve been acceptable.) Come on, at 14.50 for sandwich, you think they could try to center the meat on the bread? Not to mention, that its not exactly the best quality corned beef Ive ever had. And Ive been disappointed before. But The indoor booths are fun, and the garden is great.

My partner and I went for a quick lunch after a great bike ride, hours before the Super Bowl. Well, it was at least 5 min to get seated...even though the place was EMPTY, after we were seated,a very surly waitress took our order...1 beer, 1 ice tea and we split the Grilled Cheese sandwich and tomato soup... 40 min later, our order arrived... the Grilled cheese was good, but the Tomato soup was like someone dumped an entire bottle of tobasco and a handfull of chili flakes, spicy is fine...but give me a break!. It was another 30min to get the check. I only gave it 1 star, but it certainly deserves less!

The service was horrible and the venue was really bad. The food was bad. All the servers were high. We were from out of town and were treated really bad. Thank god we dont treat out of Towners that way here in Sacramento. The bartenders were slow and high. The concert was really bad and the venue was small and hot. While there I watched a man abuse an elderly woman while security was smoking pot. Really!! This place is a joke. The food is over priced and I have had better at a fast food joint. Some of us work without being stoned out of your mind. Go anywhere but here.

This is hard for me. I have seen several shows here and the shows are GREAT! Love the venue and how close you can feel to the performers. Sound has been great and the atmosphere fun! The food service however has been very mixed. Service at the bar was ok but the table service was slow and the food was mediocre. It could have just been how busy the night was but we had to ask three times for the check so we could go get our spots for the concert. If they can improve on that or be aware that food patrons might need to get going that would be a big improvement.

Only $4.00 for a big imperial pint of local micro-brew is about as good a deal as can be found (if you enjoy a good lager try their Kellerbier). They also host an ever changing beer list with a hefty selection of craft brews, both domestic and imported. The food at Hopmonk is great. The grilled cheese and ham sandwich is delicious, they also make a really good Reuben. However, if there is a show or event you just may want to come in early because Ive seen this place can get a little crazy when theres a big crowd and/or lots of reservations.

The Hopmonk Tavern is where its at. We love to go there and have absolutely delicious local beers that are indigenous to our particular area of Northern California that we humbly referred to as Santa Rosa. What Hopmonk is Hopmonk is the bomb. Great local beer as well as delicious vittles that tantalize your your appetite and induce you into surrendering your soul to their delicious varietals. If you run into me at Hopmonk Tavern I will buy you a beer, I promise. Please ask nicely

Prompt seating in a place of our choice. Excellent selection of beers and very attentive waiter. The ambience is great and being run by a member of the Biersch family, Hopmonk, the current incarnation of this great Sebastopol pub and microbrewery is better run than this location has ever been. If you like great beer, good food, great service and ample parking, then you really ought to make a visit to this happy place. Love live music? They have that in spades too.
