Ive been to this place a few times now and Ill list my likes first: the old-world atmosphere is great. I am fond of funky, not overly sleek but not divey watering holes. They also do have good happy hour prices and happy hour starts and ends later than at most places, so you dont have to rush out of the office at five to get there by 5:30. I also appreciate that they are a venue for local musicians. I may nor may not like all of the music, but hey, if I dont like it, there is a whole other side of the bar. But now for what I dont like. The service. Ill give my experience yesterday as a typical example: I get in line to order. The only place to get a menu is right by the well, so you either have to push your way to the bar to get one or wait until youre AT the bar and slow things down while you decide, and the impatient bar tender drums her fingers impatiently like YOURE a moron for not knowing what you want! The board with the daily specials says that the soup is chicken & dumpling, which I havent had in years so I order it. I go to sit and listen to the live show. I wait for my soup. I wait. I wait. One bowl of soup takes half an hour to come up! But hey, good food is worth the wait. But this looks odd. I take a spoon full. Whats that? Broccoli? I take another spoon full. This is CREAM OF BROCCOLI. Not at ALL what I wanted! A friend who ordered after me went back to the bar and canceled his soup order and pointed out to her that the board was wrong. Do I go back into the huge line to tell her and miss the a big chunk of the show I came to see? I eat the soup. But Im still hungry, so I decide to go back. The board still read "Chicken and Dumpling", though the error had been pointed out 15 minutes earlier. I tell the bar tender, "You may want to change the board, it was kind of a surprise to get cream of broccoli when I thought I was getting chicken dumpling. Does she apologize? Does she even say, "Oh, Ill do that when I can"? NO, she looks up at me and grunts. I did NOT tip her that time, and I ALWAYS tip well. Unfortunately, this is not atypical for the Alberta Pub and the only reason I go back is some of the music. I would never go there otherwise.

We came here for Portland Burger week 2013 to try the $5 Elk Burger and we LOVED it! First of all, even though they were crazy slammed, our waiters were super nice and accomodating, ensuring we always had a nice frosty beverage while we waited for our food. Second, the burger was a slam dunk! Definitely my favorite burger Ive tried during all of Portland Burger Week. Elk is a really different flavor of beef, and I dont know if its my favorite, but the sheer artistry of this burger was super impressive and I loved the flavor profiles and how juicy everything was. They have a super beautiful outdoor patio where we got to listen to live music while we drank and dined. It was a fabulous evening, a fabulous burger, and they even crafted a Portland Burger week menu with other featured items including some amazing looking corn on the cob, salads, fries, etc. Cheers to Alberta Street Pub for handling a promotion the right way and making me want to come back for more!! Yum I recently came back here and I gotta say - this is one of my new favorite places. I got the BLT which was DELICIOUS - this place has super yummy fries and a tap list that is nearly unmatched! And can you IMAGINE how stoked I was when they had Guinness on tap and I could get my annual Irish car bomb? Yes!!! Super friendly staff, low key place, delicious food, good live music, patio....yeah, Im gonna be a regular here!

Went in hoping to sample Alberta Street Pubs Wing Week offerings. Walked in at 10 pm to a mostly empty bar, sat down, looked around, thought about what I wanted to pair with my order...and 5 minutes later without any acknowledgement from the bartender walked out to go to my local burrito joint because I was famished, and at least there, the bartender bothered to look my way even when he/she is swamped with customers. The curry butter burbon wings at least sounded interesting and the draft menu looked extensive.

Poor service, not friendly, food was below average. Real nice patio, but the service was nothing to brag about. None of the food had much flavor at all. We sent back one dish because it was so bad and the server never apologized for it or said anything about taking it off the bill. Visiting from out of town and would not come back again. I dont like giving poor reviews bit this one deserved it. Fish was rubbery and no taste, tacos were bland, stir fry was way too salty and not edible.

Good space in the back for small shows or events, outside was small but not cramped. The bartenders were all very nice and not in a rush to get to the next customer. I tried some great new beers I hadnt seen elsewhere in town and they let you sample them. Im definitely going to make this a regular place whenever the taps change.

Im in the middle about alberta pub. The layout of the space is a bit awkward, and the live music is usually not my style. That being said I like the pew seating in the concert room, there are a ton of beers on tap, and the bartenders are just what youd expect for an alberta st. staple.

I recently took in an intimate concert at the venue here and really enjoyed the ambiance. They have a nice covered, green patio with smoking and non-smoking sections, and a delightful draft selection with something for everyone. Id love to see another show sometime and try the food.

One of the best places to see a live show in Portland. Intimate little space in the back sounds great, and has a bunch of high tables for small groups to gather around while checking out the music. The burger is legendary too. Try the reuben roll appetizer, its delicious.

Very cozy place with modern "vintage chic" look inside. It was unexpectedly nice inside judging from what it looks like on the outside. Staff was very friendly. Food was good, and it looked like they have a decent bar menu, though I didnt order anything from that part.

Incredibly rude staff. Avoid the lady donned in kimono. The condescension was so thick you could cut it, nor could they lift a finger to provide an ounce of service. The stage space is adequate for two - bands: avoid this venue at all costs.

Went there during burger week, it was a little crazy but everyone kept a great attitude about it. Food was really good and so were the drinks, had a good selection of beer & cider. Really nice, comfortable patio.

Monday karaoke is the best part. Great singers and I like how the retire the top songs every few months. Keeps the songs new and interesting. Food was good and drinks were fairly priced. Staff is wonderful.
